Best cheap gear.
As we all know tubes are the best. Of course they are more expensive as well.
If you want something that sounds "ok" but is cheap as well.
I say RANDALL......best solid state I think.my RANDALL sounds good but is kinda fucked up at the moment I unplugged the speakers and I am having it run through my brand new MARSHALL 1960 A cab. I like it but soon enough I will have a JCM 900. Then My RANDALL will be a practice amp.

mm.
guitar : Cort
bass : Aria
ss-amp : Randall
Tube-amp : peavey
I agree on Randall G2 series tops, those sound good for ss-tops. peavey tube amps are priced good too, but I just miss a lot of clarity and punch in those amps. plus the stock clean on 5150's stinks.

It's probably gonna end up costing you more in time to buy the EMG used though (I'm thinking ebaywise) unless it's already instaleld in what you are getting.

that doesnt make anysense.... not all guitars can come stock with emgs....
a used emg will cost less than a new one.... and either way they'll cost the same for installation...
but who pays to have pickups installed these days? if you do then don't complain about the price.... a 15w soldering iron and a couple other simple house hold tools like a screw driver + like an hour( give or take a little depending on how good you are) of work and you get it done yourself for free.

I meant that it'll be more work to bid for it than to just by the freaking thing at the store. Ebay they go for about 80 it seems. New they are only about 100. Not really worth bidding on if you ask me.

Emg's for me new were 150 with tax. I live in Canada, and the CAN$ is close to $.80 US, so there not a big difference, but I have seen EMG 81s go for 50 US.

you waste your money on new stuff for the convienience then... if i was on the market for an emg and i could choose between the $80 used emg or the $100 new one... fuck, $20 more in my pocket... and they do go for cheaper than that... i see them on there all the time for like $50-60...
