TESTAMENT VS. EXODUS
Yeah yeah yeah, another thread where two bands are pitted against each other. Whatever.
Well, i pick Testament. I've heard more of Testament than Exodus, so my vote goes to Testament. I think Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson kicks ass at the guitar and Chuck Billy is a badass vocalist. Exodus kicks ass too though.
What do you guys think?

I dig Testament, but Exodus gets teh nod for this one. Testament kind of delved into death metal, and although the Gathering's pretty good, Tempo of the Damned blows it out of the water.

next we should have a "Gamera vs. Mothdra" thread, then a "King Kong vs. Elton John" thread, to finish off we can have a "Giant Evil Penguins vs. The Intergalactic Sea Monkeys" thread.

I heard em both on the same festival last summer, and I must say that Exodus was unbelievable. Kicked everyone's ass. Though there were many other awesome bands like Testament, Hypocrisy, Meshuggah... But Exodus is probably one of the best live bands ever. Unbelievable.
Tough choice!

Ahh, I dont know if I can tell. Exodus= pure non-commercial Bay Area fucking Thrash. Testament= technical guitars and great vocals, but some commercial material. Exodus, bitches.

Hmm comparing my favorite songs by them, "Toxic Waltz" and "Practice What You Preach", I'd say Exodus but not by all that much. They seem to have the more appropriate attitude for the style though.

Testament. Why?
Testament produced more quality albums. Exodus had some real classics, but also had a couple of mediocre albums. Testament have stayed constistently good throughout their careers. Exodus only have 3 great albums that I know of (the first three), the albums after that were just about average. I can't comment on Tempo of the Damned because I haven't heard it. Oddly enough, I actually have owned the album for like 6 months, I just haven't listened to it yet.

I'm sorry sir, but The Ritual did, in fact, suck ass.

The Ritual did not, in fact, suck ass. But, even if it did, would you argue that they continued to suck ass or rather went right back to kicking it?
Testament.

I haven't heard anything from either bands except a song from Exodus called "War is my Shepard". I don't the lead guitarist's name, but he is badass so Exodus gets my vote.

I agree with Credit to Dementia. They did go straight back to kicking ass, but then Demonic came out ..... The Ritual and Demonic were to Testament, as Load and Reload were to Metallica .
Overall, they did recover with Low and The Gathering, which indeed, they kicked ass.

I'm not sayng that they continued to suck ass. I'm saying that album sucked ass. Demonic was really different, and it seemed forced, but it wasn't the utter crap that The Ritual was. Exodus had a sort of half and half album, with Force of Habit, but other than that, they've never realy had that problem. They really haven't gone straight for the throat like Exodus have.
And Low was between The Ritual and Demonic.

I like Testament more. They are who got me into thrash. The new order will allways be one of my favorite albums.
