what kind of heavy? i like pickups with more tone than gain.... but i find myself addicted to the dimarzio super distortion lately, it's pretty hot, but soo clear and it sounds really sharp/dynamic.

I like to get a crunch sound and massive gain out of my bridge pickups. I have an EMG-81 installed in and Ibanez and a Bill Lawerence L-500XL (Might be just an L, but it seems way too hot for that) installed in a Godin. The Bill Lawerence far better suits me, although for bridge cleans, the EMG is better. For the necks, I just keep stock pickups. They are usually mid-level output and sound pretty jazzy which I like since I usually use that as my clean pickup. I find single coils to be far better sounding clean pickups and humbuckers to be far better distorted.
