moldy symbols?
hey can symbols mold? my freinds hi hat has this green rust type shit on it, is there anyway to get rid of it or does he just have to go get a new hihat?

yes, they can get moldy. if you have "grooved" cymbals you should use: SHINE ON CYMBAL POLISH. it comes in a gold can. it takes some elbow grease but its worth it. dont rub on print, it WILL take it off in time. if you have a flat, shiney cymbal i recommend zildjian a custom polish/cleaner in a tube. both run anywhere from 7-10 bucks. oh, it may not totally come off the first time.

Don't use power tools!
They will heat up the cymbals and temper it.

a good clean of your cymbals is always a good idea, but my local crum shop has run out of cymbal cleaner......

He's right you know, but it's not mold it's oxydation it's the same reason why the Statue of Liberty is green. Your mate's sweat gets on the cymbals and it doesn't get wiped off, then oxygen has it's way with it and then BAM, green cymbals. I wouldn't say he needs new cymbals unless it has affected the sound of them, other wise just give it a good cleaning if they bother him that much.
