compared to the 80's Kramers... they suck in build quality. but hell, the newer ones are build in the czech republic, I don't even trust beer that comes from that place, plus the people there smell funny.
the neck/fretjob was pretty crap on the one I played (Pacer model) though it might be a rotten apple, they're hard to find here. A friend of mine has an 80's Baretta, its neat.
and yea, they are cheap for what you get, if you have the version with the all schaller hardware that is. so what did you change on yours?

Had Stainless Steel frets installed, Kahler installed, scalloped neck, better pickups.
Its a player now. The neck feels great to me. Of course it was pretty shitty stock though.

From what i've heard, and experienced, kramers are better now than they were in the 90's but both pale in comparison to their products from the 80's.

ahright, there you go, the bad part where the frets on the one I played, so I bet a decent fretjob would definetly benefit the guitar!
what pu's did you get in it? and till what fret did you scallop the neck? oh and pics!!!
Viking Power, Kramers from these days are pretty lame stock, but like BLS has fixed it up, it's a good guitar for an even better price.
I don't know which Kramer's from the 90's you're referring too though, because the MusicYo Kramers where made when the whole shit moved to the Czech republic.
And ofcourse the american made Kramers from the 80's rocked hard, though some looked kinda funny, like the 5150 guitar.
I'de kill for a stagemaster though. especially the rare carved tops.

I know a store that had a Vanguard on its for sale list, it was used though.
sounds like a deluxe kinda version, if it has the nice tuners, trem and sd's. the high-end kramers are all decent, I allmost bought a one-off custom made in the US, it was one of the early Stagemasters, build by ESP with Kramer parts, sort of a prototype, with a carved body and all, the seller decided not to sell it though. (it would be a great investment, though I could barely afford it, and it needed shipping+insurance too) they made only a handfull of those and they don't carry serial numbers, the one I was looking at was a blueburst kinda thing, funny thing is it was made by ESP and not in the Kramer factory, that was before they asked ESP to build stuff for them because they loved their bodies etc.
That was the guitar I was ranting about in the other thread, but I'm not getting it, so I'm back out hunting for a stagemaster... or maybe a nightswan...

cool, i ve always wanted a mid 80's barreta sustainer with the kickass fretboard binding (fairly hard to get hold of) and also a custom pacer, there just sweet. I saw one on ebay and it looked real nice. Was about $400, a real good investment. Anyways Def, are you still looking for another guitar?

Yup, just looking around, I was tracking an lawsuit ibanez les paul but I decided against les pauls. I had an epi in the past and got bored of it quickly.
PacerII custom's, well I saw one on the german ebay but it was czech made, if I'de get one it has to be american made. sounds like a good investment btw.
Kramer's are hard to get here though, I'm probably going to have to get one shipped from the us, theres a stagemaster on ebay now, the one I was trying to buy (the custom) would set me back more then a grand, but hey, it would be a good investment. Sustainers are fun to mess about with, you can get them in any guitar (the sustainiac is like 300 bucks) but its pretty cool to have endless sustain when you want it, not like you're gonna use it much...
Haven't had my hands on PAcer's yet though. I've played one of those focus v's but wasn't impressed, played some other Kramer Baretta (musicyo) and it was ok, though bad fretwork etc. but if you customize it like BLS did, I bet it plays great, they kinda remind me of RG's but less thin and with more balls.

kramers are very hard to get where i'm from especially non musicyo ones, if i were to get one it would probly end up being off ebay or somet and costing me shit loads in shipping but it'd be worth it if it was a 80's barreta sustainer. I ve always wanted a crazy ass sustainer, it'd be fun. I also heard old kramers had real comfortable thin necks, which sounds hella cool. Anyways why dont u just save some money and get a custom guitar, that'd be well worth it.

Custom guitar? I don't think I can afford those... I'de probably go fucking crazy with ideas an end out with a fucking expensive piece I wouldn't be able to use anyways, I mean I do want to 'use' it one stage and shit, I wouldn't dare and bring a 5000 bucks guitar to a gig, I allready got one Jackson stolen off me man.

Ha, very true man. I think if i had a guitar nicked i would go extremely crazy and track down the dude and probly kill him if it was my fave guitar. If not i'd just beat him up, get my guitar back and claim of insurance and say my guitar got stolen and get some money . Did you find out who nicked ure guitar?

No... It was stolen at a gig, gone... I got a 400 bucks from the club owner though, so that was cool, he didn't have any insurance for crap like that but it was his mistake for not posting security at the back exit I guess. or well, the security guy wasn't at the place where he was supossed to be at that moment.
it was a Jackson Dinky with emg 81's, though only a dkmg, I did kinda like it, but I've got a better guitar now, man. come to think of it I had like 6 guitars allready :S
