Actives + Afterburner = rip out AB?

i've read that Afterburners are for passives or actives. but i also read that actives are always on so having an AB is pointless.
i got passive HZ's that came standard with my guitar. it also came with the AB. i want to switch to actives but if its true about Actives and AB's then i need to rip my AB out and replace it with a rpc, spc, or pa2 or watever.
anyoen that has actives with AB gimmie some input?

I thought it was ok to use a AB with active EMG, but I also hear that spc is nice to. I just use the actives pups myself.

It's not pointless. Many artist use actives with the AB, but I myself don't. I think King from Slayer uses that setup sometimes and also I think James Hatfield uses it to. Give it a try to see if you like it first. You can always exchange it with something else if you don't like it.
