Diffrent Tremolos

This topic has been touched upon but i searched the forum and could not find exact answers. So, what is the diffrence in quality between various floyd rose manufacturers such as Schaller, and what are the pros and cons in contrast to Kahler tremolos.

Kahler vs Floyd. I might go into this in detail later but I only have a few moments right now.

Both are nice but Kahler, imo, are better than floyd because of added stablity, tuning, and material quality. Unfortunatly they are also a bitch to find and cost more than floyd, but the good news is they are supposed to start production again which will help lower prices.

Diffrence in quality is big...

well the orginal floyd has a steel base plate, the later immitation ones don't. and therefor are les sturdy. and ofcourse the overall quality is less good in most cases, like korean floyds they have on cheaper jacksons and ibanez's, they just suck! they don't stay in tune well after some trem-abuse and they don't pitch like they're supposed too (they don't 'come back' fast enough either) and ofcourse they're less sturdy then the original one.

theres some good copies though, Ibanez has the Edge, Edge II and thats about it.. the TRS tremolo is worthless... and don't get me started about the stuff they have on the low end guitars.. Back in the day they used to have better quality axes and thus also the trems, I've got an original Edge in my ibanez rg750rr, its great, its allmost as sturdy as a floyd and its fast in the 'come back' motion.
A floyd offers the same kind of feel, but it feels a bit less sturdy IMO, but the Edge is what comes closest to the original.

Kahlers can raise and lower pitch just like a Floyd, but there is a cam set for the Kahler that has the option to only lower pitch if you want it to. Schaller are who make the original Floyd today, but I could be wrong. Either way, I hear the Schaller Floyds are pretty good though. Kahler I know much about but Floyds are something I don't use so I don't know as much about them. Thanks for the congrads too.

Schaller makes all the Original Floyds, and their own licensed copy (which is basically a high wuality floyd rose II)

good, hard german steel.

Is there a big difference in staying in tune between tremolos and non tremolos? Because the Custom Ran I am getting is going to have a tune-o-matic. Will getting a Floyd be worth it for better staying in tune? Will it cost much more than the tune-o-matic?

A Floyd will cost lots more than a TOM bridge, plus non-trem bridges tend to stay in tune better anyway. If I can't get a Kahler then I don't get a trem bridge. As for non-trem bridges, I go for TOM bridges myself. They are solid as a rock.
