I am buying parts to start making my own Star shaped (Ironbird/Stealth) body via Warmoth and i was wondering what are the positives and negatives of a Scalloped fretboard i realize lots of shredders like that and i was wondering if it would be good for Death metal (i like to shred too, but i play Death metal and i wondered if it got in the way of my rhythm playing?) is it easier to Sweep or what ?

scalloped fretboards make bending strings easier. its supposed to be smooth and fluid when bending once u get used to it. some say the neck's faster.
u coudl stretch the string with simple pressure chagnes. in single notes and in chords. the neck's faster when sliding up and down the string since there's nothing but string underneath your fingers.

I've played a custom guitar with scalloped frets from the 12th and up. I didn't like the feel much but maybe its better once you get used to it...

I don't feel like having it done to any of my axes though. if I'de loved the feel I would have considered it. (if you do, make sure you do it right or let a pro handle it.)

yeah it'd suck to fork out a few more bills for a new neck.

I like frets 19=14 scalloped

NOT the whole board.. that just makes chords and such sound like shit. Warmoth does GREAT scallop jobs. I think you'll be safe getting maybe frets 21 - 24 scalloped like Vai.
