Ok to possibly cut down on the amount of new thread of which the topic has already been discussed I have an idea.
Before someone makes a new thread there should be a pop up that says "have you used the search function? If you are making a new thread about something that has already been discussed, then it will be deleted and you will be made fun of for being an ignorant noob."
Or something along those lines.
Or maybe adding "Are you sure you are making this thread in the right forum?" in with it.
I get tired of seeing the same threads over and over.
And after a person has posted a certain number of times, (enough to not be considered a noob) it wont pop up with this message.

No those cannot be blocked at all, but still I say people who make threads that allready exist should just be temp banned. The pop-up isn't going to solve much. I mean the rules are in each forum, if they don't read the rules, that's their own fualt. Temp ban is my vote.

Exactly, people don't read the "stickies" but they should be, because they are there for a reason. If people aren't going to read those, why would they read the pop-up? I know when I get pop-ups I just exit out of them myself thinking they are some type of spyware, which most are. The ban doesn't have to be long, just like a day or so, so that the person understands that you guys don't want a bunch of the same threads being made over and over again.

I think this subject is a double edged sword. Of course, if there is already a thread on the same page that was made only a couple of weeks ago, it is very annoying. However, even when the search function is used and an old thread revived, all we get from some folk is, "Why did you bring this old thread back from the dead you stupid faggot?" There needs to be some give and take, I feel.

Looks like someone spoke too soon. I haven't seen a mod abuse their power, and you guys are all complaining about people bringing new threads up, well this would stop it. Just making some little lame pop-up reminds me of the U.S. and the way they treat the death penalty. A guy can kill 5 people and get 5 life sentances, and still get off with parol... if you're going to make some rule, enforce it. Otherwise nobody is going to follow it, and like I said before, just because it pops up doesn't mean everyone will read it. If nobody likes my idea why don't the mods just close down the stupid threads that keep coming up like 3 times in a row and if the same person keeps doing it, THEN temp ban them or something.

EDIT: And if Nomad doesn't want to put up with shutting them all down or doesn't have the time he can find someone he trusts to help him out with that or something. I just don't see the pop-up enforcing anything.

Just to explain myself here: I closed that thread solely because he said "I wanted to see what you guys would do". Would have been fine by me, if not for that. I only close them and add a few derogatory comments when the thread has been resurrected for no particular reason, except to get a rise out of people. Otherwise, I don't see a problem with it!

Some may have noticed that Ive been away a while. And if you didn't - I've been away a while. So I'm a little late on all my posts, and I feel my opinion really matters to you guys so i posted anyway.

Reading the very first post in this thread brought pretty much every con of the situation which have been raised by John and Chris and Transient. It just wouldn't work. This has been said, but if someone dosnt read the sticky's thats their fault. I mean, I can't go and kill a guy and say "Oh sorry, iI never read the book of Law" or whatever that fucken thing is. Def put it best, if not a little harsh ^^^.

alright, if its for a legitimate reason a n00b shouldnt be flamed. but yes, he did deserve every bit of flaming for the messugah thread.
