power tabs and guitar pro tabs

whats the difference between power tabs and guitar pro tabs, besides which ones free and which one isn't?

is it worth it to buy guitar pro?

Powertab is free and, in my opinion, much better than Guitar Pro. The only good thing about GP4 is that you can add drums to your score, but other than that I wouldn't use it over powertab. Actually, I wouldn't use it over powertab full stop: drums or no drums.

I agree. Powertab is much less of a hastle to use than Guitar Pro. All that you can do with GP you can do with PT minus the drums and PT is free, and a drum score will be included in the next version of PT anyway. Hopefully it remains free.

Except that guitar pro is like 75 times or so easier to program.

it is a pain in the arse in relation to bar lengths though, especially since i dont know shit about music theory

Nope, no date has been set, nor any estimate given. Whenever it does come out it'll be on http://www.power-tab.net though
