Canada is turning into a miniture America more and more everyday. Yesterday at my school there was a massive fight which resulted in people going to the hospital...blacks vs. whites...there was about 15 people involved, and all the white guys are my friends...the school was put on lock down(no one allowed out of the classrooms) and there was about 30 cops there...now you have to have a signed hall pass from the teacher to go to the bathroom or to get a drink and there are cops at every entrance until tomorrow.(it might be like this permenantly)

During my first years of secondry school (yrs 7-9)the school i went to had a really bad reputation for drugs nad fighting, i know one of my friends went to a private school, and he herd stuff about people eye-gouging eachother with locker keys. There were constant brawls amoungst the typical kids, as well as some people who set the oval on fire (it was actually some of my friends, im glad i needed to go to the toilet at the time I did ). There was also some scrub next to the oval that was set on fire one day too, the flames reached the top of the power poles that were next to the scrub. There was never a constant police presence at the school though (nor any problems with racism, since we basically done have any black people around here).
The most "obscure" time though was when i went to a different school for my final 2 years of high school, towards the end of the second last year, some kid had a nervous breakdown, snaped, stole a fuckload of guns and a ute and dissapeared. After that happened, we had plain clothed security guards wandering the school, that kept me ammused. As the school was situated at the back of a park, most of the kinds went down into the park during recesses and lunchtimes, my friends and i stayed on school grounds down a side were hardly any people frequented. But the poit is, that on one of the 2 or 3 days before the kid was found (miles away from the school i might add) a couple of the security guys wandered past were we were sitting, they looked like typical security guards, they were huge guys, buy since they were "plain-clothed" they had on really bright hawian shirts, and they stood out like sore thumbs, it was kind of ammusing.

Well, the Uncertainty Principle basically says that the more we know about one physical attribute of a particle, the less we know about another. For example, the more precisely we know a particle's momentum (how hard it is to make something stop), the more imprecisely we know the particle's position. This is because in order to measure momentum we need to measure a change in position hence we cannot say with absolute certainty where the particle was when we made our measurements (of mass and velocity for momentum). Therefore we have uncertainty in the system.

Now, General Relativity deals with large objects such as planets, stars and galaxies whereas Quantum Mechanics deals with very small objects such as atoms, electrons, etc. Another difference is that GR is formulated in continous space, ie you can keep making something smaller indefintely. Quantum Mechanics is formulated in discrete space, ie there is a limit as to how far something can decrease in size (this limit is about 10^-35 metres).

The Uncertainty Principle takes into account this discrete nature of space and so it is remarkable how it has been derived from a theory based on continous space. Also, the Uncertainty Principle has Planck's constant as an intrinsic part of it. [If Planck's constant is set to zero, then Quantum Mechanics reduces to a classical system that obeys Newtonian Mechanics] This becomes important because General Relativity does not incorporate Planck's constant.

How he did it, I just don't know! Even if I did know, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to follow and understand his proof. Pretty remarkable stuff.
