It would be cool if that was actually HIM playing. Did anyone notice that that was a Marshall 15 watt practice amp he is playing out of? And he is in his living room, i.e., exhibit B. It sounds too clean to be played by him, and a band. No, no, no, he is just bullshitting over someone else's recording.

I saw that guy live!!!
about a year ago, he played in a band that covered loads of classic rock songs, black sabbath stuff and so. the band was called 'Stormrider' I remember his name because I talked to the guy, he played a Ibanez universe but I don't remember his amp. I walked up to him because I needed some tips to play 'mr crowley', they played that as their last song and it was a pretty small venue (JC Escape, Veenendaal) nice guy to drink a beer with, he doesn't have his own nose up his ass either from what I could tell.
I'm going to check out his website now, kinda cool to see his name come up here! he's fucking great though, he played mr crowley like it was his second nature, not even looking down on the frets or anything, just chilling out and playing it ALL. one of the best guitar players I've seen live, only topped by the guys from Fear My Thoughts.
Marcel gave me one tip that evening... 'practise' so the treath title is pretty appropiate!!! |

he started doing gigs in '83 I see... shit, I was born that year man, just think about how much this guy has been playing if you take his 'practise' advise seriously. the guy has probably been doing nothing less than practising his ass off.
I've seen him live and I must say, the guy has great skill. skill I couldn't even dream of, I mean everyone can play a song after heaps of practise, hell it might take a year, but you'll get there eventually. but the way this guy played it just defied logic!

i have to say, as tho the guy is skilled to the point of absurdity, i didnt like the way its sounded, its chessy. it reminds me of watching alot of drummers in bands who can do insane rudiments and drumfills, heel toe shit but the beats suck and the sound in general is not interesting. that song could be video game musak, its totally forgettable.
so yeah, i agree the guy is amazing skillwise but the song itself i didnt like at all

I like his style, playes with more emotion and he takes time to do vibratos, bends, and squeals intead of just using the neck pickup and shredding like 200 notes per second. He had some cool rhythm stuff too. It was just kinda weird w/ him just standing in his living room w/ the lights all dim and he's like headbanging in all . |

I love this guy, And for a few of you questioning his song structure/style you should check out some other videos on his site, they arent as Neo classical as this and have a more loose feel. Plus, he still shits all over alot of other shredders imo.

i like that rhythm riff he has...reminds me of helloween or stormwarrior...very speed metalish...I'm not huge into shredding but it wasn't as boring as fucking malmstein or however you fucking say his goofy name. I wish there was more rhythm in the song...

Haha, ol' tubby is pretty fuckin good! He does it so effortlessly. Great technique and articulation, and props to him for not sounding as monotonous as other shredders out there like Malmsteen(I don't like him). He's really great but frankly I don't like music that's so melodiously happy, but it was nice.
The last bit where he shows the horns, that made me instantly think of Karl Sanders.

plus how he adds more than major and minor scales,I heard some whole tone and augmented shit.

I've known about this guy for a while, Anthem is so fucking awesome. It's the best thing anyone has ever done with our anthem. Marcel should play at the olympics or something. It's good to see he's getting some recognition... spread the word \m/
