florida and death metal
does anyone miss the old-school death metal from florida?
i love brutal death metal and the more technical stuff but damn, it feels great to pop in some Deicide or Malevolent Creation just for the "straight forward" stuff they were doing.
Obituary, Deicide, Death, Morbid Angel, Monstrosity, etc...
i miss them.

Yeah, they did, Malevolent Creation also started out in NY and moved to FL shortly thereafter. I don't really miss those bands because most of them are still around. Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity, Cannibal Corpse, they're still coming out with high quality stuff.
Morbid Angel are still around, but I haven't heard Heretic yet. Deicide's last album was pretty good, no Legion, but pretty good.
Death were great too, I miss them. I haven't heard Control Denied, either. Cynic are Atheist are two bands that I wish were still around, they were nothing short of phenomenal.
Obituary were mediocre and I'm glad they're gone. Massacre were mediocre.
Nasty Savage were a great technical thrash band for their middle albums, their first album was decent (but stereotypical and pretty standard) power thrash, their latest album was good, but nothing to write home about. Their albums Indulgence, Penetration Point, and Abstract Reality were all way above average, just superb.

yeah, i know some of these bands are still around but i wish there were some new ones capturing that old florida feeling.
maybe it was production back then, made things more raw, more in-your-face.

control denied rules the first 10 times you hear that album then you get sick of it. i havnet touched it in a few months. unlike one of the greatest albums of all time ,atheist's unquestionable presence. that album is just so awesome
actually nihilist i continued my trend of not reading, i only skimmed it and didnt see MC in there

Has anyone heard Brutality? I read about them and they were from Florida. They were supposedly one of the first bands from there, along the lines of Morbid Angel, Death, Deicide and Obituary.

I've been listening to a lot of the Obituary songs I downloaded lately. "Buried Alive" is awesome, possibly one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. I want to buy a CD of there's but I don't know which one to get. What do you guys think??

cause of death the gold disc version rules. if youre a completist like me, get that. if not , get the double set of cause of death and slowly we rot. murphy's solos make CoD worth having, but overall obituary gets tiresome. they have a few great tracks on world demise, dont care is a great song. the best thing they have ever done is on the bonus track infested, its live. you hear john tardy (no insturments, just him) come on and holler in his death vocals "DYNAMO, HOW THE HELL ARE YA!?!?!?" but hes sounds wicked pissed
