Mic Problemo
I just got a new mic and the sound quality is excellent but I need the volume to be increased when I record. I've got the mic volume all the way up and the mic boost on. I use cool edit to record and i can kick up alittle bit but if I do too much then it kills the quality. I also tried taking the wind gaurd off the mic, turning the amp up to 11, and smashing the mic against the speaker. Is their some kind of double mic boost I could put on somehow? If so, that would definatly do the trick seeing what it does when its not on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know what soundcard you're using, but if your card has both a mic in and a line in, try the other one, as there usually is a difference in gain/level between the two. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

Hmmm. When I record I have the mic go into a 4 track and then into my computer. I use the 4 track for just that. Volume. That would probably fix it but I doubt you want to go out and spend $100 on a 4 track. Theres probably an easier way to do it.

The mic is a DR-VX1 Vocal mic by audio-technica..and then it says digital reference on the box too. I have a 4 track around here somewhere...

Why are you using a vocal mic to mic your cab?

is he using it to mic his cab??? it doesn't say up there.
anyways, if its a condenser mic, it needs a 12v feed from a pa system to be up to volume, but if it isn't, its just not a really loud mic, I guess. I have an old samson that's like that too, it sounds good but it needs to be turned up all the way.
