Hit up the store today since I have no work tomorrow. Got a bunch of good or at least potentially good beer (seeing as how I have never had most of what I bought) Did come across some 12th Anniversary Old Rasputin in a larger corked bottle. Grabbed that...it was expensive though. Should be pretty damn good...I guess it's the same beer only aged in oak barrels. Also grabbed a few IPAs, a couple porters, and imperial stouts. One of each of those styles is from the same brewery which is out of Norway. Haven't had any Norwegian beer before, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that stuff is. |

Sorry to hear that blitz. If it makes you feel any better or worse, I'm drinking that bottle of Old Rasputin XII. This shit is great! They just aged OR in some bourbon barrels and the alcohol is up to 11.2%. It is delicious! It was expensive though, the store I got it at isn't cheap either...they get a lot of random stuff through non distributors or at least random weird ones. They just have all kinds of beers I don't see anywhere else around here, so I assume they go through non traditional methods of stocking their shelves compared to places like total wine and more. I think I'll buy some more of it..some to age, some to drink. They only have 3 cases at that store, and only so many cases made it into VA.  |

I've only seen it on sale here in VA..wasn't available down in FL. Only three varieties are available here also...that I've seen at least. Porter, Imperial Stout, and an IPA. Grabbed all three of them though. I love porters..maybe even more than stouts, not sure. Even though they are almost the same thing..and were the same thing.. Probably should've cracked that one open instead, but I grabbed this IS first.  |

I finally found a way to get rid of the spiced rum my son can't drink because of his meds. I put a shot in some ginger ale and, lo, and behold, it actually is palatable. Even good. I'm not telling though so I can keep it for me! It should last me about 2 years the way I drink. There's less than half a good sized bottle in the fridge.

That's how son drank it and I didn't like that at all. The combination of the spice and ginger ale gave it a hint of vanilla which make it taste a bit like cream soda now that I think about it.

A great stout I had recently is called Mikkeller - Beer Geek Breakfast from Nřgne Ř of Norway. Damn that is a good stout. If you see it and like stouts, you must try it. |

Rogue has some pretty good ones. They aren't one of my top breweries though... They do have a few solid brews on the other hand.
Lately I haven't been drinking a whole lot compared to the olden days. On non work nights, I tend to drink mostly clear rum with a few beers here and there, and try to have a beer or two on work nights. Doesn't always work out like that, but I try. |

bushmills, and jamesons are my presonal fav.
rye:
wiser's (i rather black label [special blend] then the white, but i know some that think the the other way), and alberta premium!!! (cheap but FUCK! the flavour!!!! it is the only canadian whiskey that is 100% rye.
of course this is just my tastes, but if you see these kickin' around, try'em out!

Bushmills and Jameson are Irish whiskies, not Scotch. For a whiskey to be considered Scotch, it must be distilled in Scotland.
Alberta Premium isn't the only 100% Canadian rye whiskey. Alberta Springs is another 100% rye whiskey, but it's rubbish, so I certainly wouldn't recommend trying it.

Myeeaaah not a big fan of Hoegaarden myself. In fact I don't like it at all. Not many people here in Belgium do as far as I know actually.

It's a bit of a small brand, but if you ever find it, try Kempisch Vuur. One of the heavier Belgian beers, comparable to Duvel in some ways but way more flavour. Goes down real easy.

I had a Helles Doppelbock for the first time yesterday. It was pretty good and an little citrus flavored. I am going to now look up what the fuck a Helles Doppelbock actually is.

Not a bad beer, but definitely not one of the better witbiers I've had. It was a little inconsistent (watery at the top and quite grimey at the bottom)....but I still drank every drop. 3/5 |

Expensive as shit. This was my first experience with a Bičre de Champagne and I think the beer should have been served a little colder...but still very good. Quite a complex body and a nice buzz. I love belgian beer mouthfeel (lulz).
