Yeah it's bullshit. A pack of domestic cigarettes here is about $8.95 now
A decent 26 ounce bottle of whiskey is about $25.00 And minimum wage in this province is $8.00 an hour, but it might be raised to $10.00 an hour in the near future.
How big is a 0,5l bottle Gomli?
EDIT : Just found this

fuck yeah it's expensive here, 6-pack of coors light is 9$ and imported beers are 12$ and up BUT wine cost nothing!!! probably because we are french!! so i buy 2 fucking bottles, drink them down, have same amount of water and no headache after that and it costs me 17$
In bars, shooters are 2 or 3$ depends of were you go and beers are 5$ the glass, 15 to 18$ the pitcher....
of course when you know where to buy it's cheaper but other than that, you got poor, maybe they want to prevent alcoholism, they got wrong...we are in canada, its well known, we drink like fucking pigs

As of late, my preference for alcohol has shrunk to anything that gets me drunk
But that's going to change... I'm going to change. This is the last of that sort of thing. I'm cleaning up and moving on, going straight and choosing life. I'm looking forward to it already!

I've a book titled "Memoirs of the Wife and Mother of George Washington" published in 1859 and Sam Adams was a tavern owner in it. It's kind of neat to read about the man behind the brew.
Joe, good luck with that. Some people have lived most of their lives before they realize they need to change something like that.

I've been drinking such shitty beer lately that this Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout tastes like heaven!
I love dark beers
At, or around this time, Joe made a healthy, informed, democratic decision to get back on beer as soon as possible. Took about twelve hours.

Haha I bet you'll drink those the other way around next time!
That's shitty though, I hate it when the taste of drinks interfere with each other. I had 3 pints of Guinness on my birthday, and after that an ounce of straight scotch, and the scotch tasted like shit because of the Guinness I had just finished a few minutes before that

hey, knock budweiser and like beers all you want, but that's the shit i grew up drinking. Sure, i enjoy the more expensive microbrews, but only for casual drinking. When i want to pound down a good 20 beers, nothing beats Miller or Bud.

Actually I wasn't insulting the cheaper mass-produced beers in general, and I didn't mean to insult your tastes at all Truth, I'm no beer snob I also drink the cheaper beers when I want to get pissed off my head, usually Wildcat (8%) and sometimes Dude, but that's only 5%, so when I want to get really hammered I'll buy the former. For some reason I've never liked Bud though, mostly due to the aftertaste and phlegmy feeling I get in my throat after drinking a few, but maybe that's just me. Unfortunately I can't get drunk with beer anymore because my tolerance has been pretty high lately
I agree though, commercial beer is for getting hammered, and expensive beers are meant to be enjoyed, not poured down the throat and pissed out fifteen minutes later

aye aye on the tolerance issue
Mine isn't really high, but its way higher than it used to be. That's why I'm buying Jagermeister now
But seriously I'm not in that 20 beer range, 'cause that's pretty intense.

Exactly! and i know you weren't knocking my taste, no worries.
I don't like getting drunk off just beer, because of the tolerance issues. If i'm not taking shots with my beers, i can easily put down over 20 in a night, and that's not even fun to consume that much liquid haha. I'd much rather keep it to a twelve pack, with a good amount of liquor consumed in the mean time.

i would also agree, if the night is just for partying and having fun, ill usually pick up some heineken or something, not a 10$ bottle of St bernardus

Christ, the last time I drank Jagermeister was about 2 years ago on New Years Eve, I ended up having 34 shots (I kept a tally on my arm with a pen) and I was drinking beer and champagne in between those shots
I had to crawl up the stairs to bed every time I tried to stand I'd just topple over haha. I don't get that drunk anymore, I hate the feeling of not being able to control my balance.

After you`ve eaten something really fat: DRINK IT!

If anyone hasn't tried Tripel Karmeliet. You need to! Now! Brought some with me to hang out with my parents, brother and his gf this weekend. So far I have not met anyone that didn't think it was anything less than "very good" Drinking some Delierium Nocturnum right now..also very good. Wish I didn't have work and PT tomorrow morning so early..

never heard of that Graf. I wonder if they sell it at all up here in PA. How much does it cost?
On another note, I absolutely fucking love quality red wine. Not only does it taste great, but the buzz is amazing. A wine drunk is the best kind of drunk. I had maybe 6 glasses or so and i'm feeling pretty fuckin happy, dudes.

Yea, the general public tends to drink some swill..
Bob_Ze_Nu Metal...I found some of that beer from Quebec you were talking about. I didn't find that stout, but found the one with the honey suckles or whatever other flower it was.. Also grabbed an IPA they make and another beer. The IPA is the only one I've had so far. It was pretty good, I'll be sure to look at the name.

With some people it might be due to lack of money... but from what I've seen, most people just don't know any better. I know some people with damn good jobs who have alot of money to throw around, yet they still buy cheap wine and whiskey that could strip paint

Where the fuck do you get those beers? Where I'm from the most unknown beer is probably Shiner Bock or Harvest Moon. Yeah.

cant speak for the other guys but i get my stuff at a place called bootleggers http://www.bootleggersmaine.com/ its just a beer/wine shop, which if your looking for good micro/import brews is what you need to find not a a big commercial grocery store but a smaller beer/alchohol only store. try a search for your town and/or surrounding towns and beer shop/store or something similar

Too often, I drink probably a case/case and a half a week. I need to cut back to one good drinking session a week.

a case a week isn't that bad at all, mtm. that averages to only like 3.5 beers a day or so.

gd- I've had a few of those. The Lion Stout is probably one of the best higher percentage stouts I've ever had.

How much percent got it?
I know some kind of beer that got an alcohol level of about 9. Too much for beer in my opinion

No way! There are countless of amazing, high-percentage beers. It's all about how well the beer is balanced. A well-balanced 9%-12% beer can mask much of an unwanted, harsh alcohol taste with a good blend of select malt/hops/yeast. This can't be said for an unbalanced 5%abv or what have you. Big beers offer so much flavour due to the amount of ingredients in them, and of course, less water than say a 5%abv beer. The highest percentage so far are around 27%abv with Sam Adam Utopia..anyone try this?
Big beers are the shit. They are not to chug, but to enjoy.

There's only one that I know of. It's alright. A nice and drinkable dark ale. Medium body, kinda malty and lightly sweet.

Indeed. Fairly enjoyable, but nothing overwhelmingly amazing.
Anyone going to any beer festivals this summer? The 3rd Annual Halifax Seapoprt Beer Fest is going on again this year, so I'll have to go. I went last year and had fun, although there weren't many beers there I hadn't already tried, apart from those beers from Maine. Still a fun time though. I remember trying this there, made by my old brewmaster when i was at Garrison. It was freaking awesome.

Since our beer selection is probably very different, just buy some random stuff or find out what brands a store carries, and read reviews on beeradvocate.com for reference.
gd - Thanks for the heads-up man! I'll be looking into that for sure. This year I'm going to take more pictures as well.
I think this was the only picture I took last year..a crap view from the line to get in. haha.

I'd probably choose the Arrogant Bastard, though. But I enjoyed the Oatmeal Stout.

Yea, Old Rasputin is the awesome! Try drinking one, then having a Guinness. It's like having a bud light.
I've had that Sam Adams Imperial Stout and the White...they were both decent (as I remember..might've had a bit much to drink at the time)..neither of them struck me as amazing beers though. I think I still like some of their winter offerings more...like Old Feziwig.

Drinking a Natureland Organic Amber Ale right now. It's brewed in my city, so it's alright, but nothing special. Much better than their other piss though

yea, once you pop the top you can smell it and it comes through in the flavor. maine produces around 95% of the countries blueberries ( if i remember right) so blueberry ale is kind of a specialty around here. most of the local maine breweries have a version of it

Sounds good I certainly wouldn't mind trying some. I haven't had many fruity beers. The only one I didn't like was Cannery Brewing Blackberry Porter... the blackberry was just WAY too strong
