Jim Bean is terrible and not worth the money.
Evan Williams is Jack Daniels disturbed cousin and well worth the price. Also, I just put in my application to a liquor store. Hopefully, it will be my summer job.

Yes, their private reserve is pretty decent. I've got a quart of Canadian whiskey my friend gave me for my birthday but I forget the name right now.
My dad got back from Mexico and bought me a quart of Cabo Wabo Blanco..not huge on fine tequila but I do know it's not aged(distilled and then immediately bottled) but it should make a nice tequila sunrise. Bought some grenadine tonight for Saturday's UFC.
I had a Rogue Shakespeare Stout the other night; good as always.
...and Jack Daniels is garbage!

Well worth the price? You are talking like its something valuable. haha Its on the bottom shelf at the abc store. Like 20 bucks a 5th. Its not even in a glass bottle but a plastic jug.
And in agreement with BassB. Jim beam is 10x smoother than jack daniels which is pretty nasty all together.

shocktop is made by AB...if that's the one with the orange slice with the sunglasses and mohawk? it's one of their better beers but a little sweet for me and not as balanced tasting as blue moon i'd say.
i haven't had any beer since checking in at OCS, but before i checked in, i had a few out in town. my favorite of them was smuttynose IPA. i had heard of them several times but never seen their beers on sale, so i ordered it instantly once i saw it on the menu. very tasty stuff that is worth a try. if you don't like IPAs, try one of their other beers..i think they are supposed to have a really good porter also.

Yes it's an excellent brew indeed. Definitely try it out. Anything from Rogue really is a very safe bet..not sure how many of their beers I've had but probably in the range of fifteen.

Holy fuck, that stuff is expensive... I still want to try it though. The high/buzz depends on the quality of the stuff I think

Absinthe isn't really worth the $65-69 for a quart..It does give you a strange buzz, but nothing phenomenal.
In other news I have so much free beer from work I don't know what to do with it...I have about 10-15 bombers of 6.9% IPA just sitting around. Maybe I'll get around to drinking it at some point.

Right on Blitz. The only bad thing is shipping can be pretty expensive..however since we're in Canada it shouldn't be too too bad. I know BC has some hidden gems up there.

It tastes really, really bad though... if you don't like an aniseed flavour, then it's disgusting.
In other news, my favourite place to drink, Beer Circus, that served loads of good bottled beers from around Europe, as well as a few good cask ales.... has closed and turned into a trendy bar! Rubbish, so it's back to the cheap and cheerful Weatherspoons pubs, which fortunately cater to us ale-lovers, so it's not all bad. Had a pint of Tokyo Black a week or so ago, was very nice. Thick and dark, the way i like my pints
If any UK (London-ish area), tabbers know of any pubs that serve good stout, then do say, i'm on a quest for stout, and there's not enough going round!
BassB: i'd love to get a job at a brewery, would be really cool to actually be part of the brewing process Unforunately, i really don't have the time to start brewing my own, which sucks because i was looking forward to it.... perhaps after i've finished my degree and have a bit of a career What kinda beers does your workplace brew?
And finally, for the rest of the English, if you hadn't seen the thread, check out the Great British Beer Festival 2008 thread

I've had this beer yesterday.
http://snoro.com/snoreau.jpg
dude...REALLY GOOD, it has a taste of cranberries and a taste of a strong beer.
hard to describe, i suck at it.
The name of the beer means: we say ''snoreau'' when a kid do something like...take the wig out of someone...stupid shit like that...

Yesterday I bought a bottle of Phillips Longboat Double Chocolate Porter and two cases of Nelson Blackheart Oatmeal Stout (5.7%) Drank it all in about 5 hours and got pretty pissed. Then my friend started giving me bottle after bottle of Molson and I got really pissed. It was a really fun night. It was me, my gf, and a few friends with their gf's all getting drunk in my friends garage

It probably doesn't mean spicy in the traditional since of a hot a pepper. It probably means more like cinnamon or something of that nature.
Anyways, the Pale Ale with warrior hops came out glorious. I'm brewing another batch today.

pure cranberry juice actually has quite a punch to it. i don't know if i'd call it spicy, but most certainly there's a lot of flavor.

The spicy thing in that beer...is the taste of the cereals they took for the beer. the cranberry taste is just the fruitty taste...you know you can make a spicy/fruitty beer heh

There we go. That was the answer i think he was looking for earlier.
I've had a cranberry beer before. Wasn't too keen on it, but it was alright. As much as i like cranberry juice there are alot of things that are made with cranberries that just don't sit with me right.

nice haul bassb. i can't wait to get some liberty and find somewhere that has some good beer on tap. there is a place here in newport that a few of us went to two nights before checking in. they had some pretty good beer...dfh 60 min IPA, some other IPA from a brewery i wasn't familiar with..but it was good, they had one or two from this local brewery which are alright, but nothing special. i know CT has some good bars. someone i know that lives over there invited me to swing by some time when i could and we'd go to this bar that has a lot of belgian beers.

It's fairly decent, especially on tap. The BA reviews don't reflect what it once was(utter crap) since the former brewmaster had tweaked the recipe a few months ago. Their IPA(double IPA) is where it's at though.

Superb man. One of the best beers I've ever tried. Definitely check that out and if you like it, Unibroue makes many other steller brews.

Its not too bad. It is a lil pricey. Doesn't quite seem like its worth the price, but oh well.

don de dieu is pretty good. the only beer from unibroue (that i've had so far) i didnt' like was the 1637 or whatever date it was. honestly, i think the stock that store had was just old so i'd definitely try it again if i saw some on sale somewhere else. wasn't crazy about the ephemere, but it was still decent and definitely drinkable.

Been starting to drink beer again. I did the math and i can't drink liquor. I haven't drank my crown royal in months.. but.. Its like 25-29 bucks a 5th.
Its like 15 dollars for 24 miller lites.
I drink almost half a 5th when i drink liquor. That means it costs about 10-15 dollars to drink and get drunk that one time. With beer i'll probably only drink around 8-9 to get a good solid buzz. Thats less than 7 dollars to get drunk.
Need i say more?
Drinking miller lite now to edge of the fact i have exams coming up and i don't care.

Yea, i'm a big fan of Abbey style beers, and i'm trying to get hold of some proper trappists... one day in the next year or two, i'd like to go over to Belgium and buy some beer from the gates of the Trappist Monasteries

Yesterday I was laid off at Garrison Brewing Co. The reason being they couldn't afford to train me/keep me on. Pretty bullshit. They had this other guy they hired on fulltime about a month ago and kept him instead. I was told first thing in the morning and then worked a full 8hour shift being pissed off. I only worked there for two months.

that sucks man.. maybe you should do what many people have done in the past..turn your bitterness into drive and start your own brewing operation. then crush your old employer. that's how lamborghini started..though i think ferrari still has the edge on them.

Yeah, it's very unfortunate. Thanks for the support guys. I'm going to apply at Propeller Brewery which is an even better micro brewery.

Lol... how many cd's do you have approximately? Last time I counted, I was beating about 500, with 60 vinyls and 80 cassettes

I'm at about 250ish.
I tried my first bottle of Duvel the other day. Rocked my pallet! It was well worth the 8.00$ - its packed with flavor. Also got a bottle of The Lost Abbey's Avant Gard which was good, but not worth the 8.00$ as I could spend 3$ on some others that taste the same.

Yeah, the second glass. I didn't bother reading the "how to pour" disclaimer on it and ending up with 70% foam. Fuck, that thing has the biggest head I've ever seen; I even poured it slower than normal.
