Last night = debauchery.
I went to my first bar with a buddy in America and drank a shitload of crown/coke + fat tire. Challenged some fool to pool and lost. Played video golf and darts. Got pretty tipsy....on to the next stop.
My friend is a bartender at a restraunt. Me and my buddy went to visit her. I had a margerita and 2 miller lites....onward, through the fog.
Went to a kegger around 10 pm. Macked on bitches, smoked pot and drank like a crazy man. Came home around 3.
I wasn't driving this time...my friend was. And he was swerving like a madman. Yay kegs.

a little lighter in color than the photo. also had a small head that disappeared while i was waiting for my camera. accidentally had it on a setting for some low light pictures i was taking earlier and forgot to switch it back.
smells lightly fruity with a hint of alcohol/spice at the end.
tastes a little sweet, but also kind of bitter towards the end. personally, i am not really a fan of this stuff. then again, i'm not really into barleywine style ales. medium body. a little bit of lacing. similar elements from the smell also...a fruityness in the mix...seems like a lot is going on in the flavor that i'm having trouble dissecting. for how strong the flavor is, it doesn't stick around too long...but it does kind of linger. a light taste that is very much like the smell sticks around a little longer. but the overall flavor hits you then fades out.
in the end, this is the last time i plan on drinking the stuff..unless i later decide i like barleywine ales...then i'd give it another go.
in the very end..i wound up pouring out the last gulp or two. not something i normally do, but i just don't like this stuff.

Right now I'm drinking 'Old Style Pilsner' A rather tasty Canadian beer that isn't too expensive.
Favourite beers : Almost any Scandinavian, Dutch, or German beer.
All other favourites : Rye & coke. Jagermeister

Weird, never see that...made by Molson eh?
You like Pilsners? Perhaps try some B.C brewed Granville Island Pilsner. I've never had their beers just read pretty good things about them. My advice for great beer is to drink some locally crafted beers and then do some research about styles and branch out from there.

What does that mean? I guess beer downtown Montreal can be $7 a pint..but you have some great beers and microbrews up there you are missing out on.
Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel
Brutopia
...are the main two I've read about on BeerAdvocate.com.

loll i meant: when i dont have enough money to buy good alcohol, i will buy beer. Now I can't support the taste, except fruitty ones or really good ones. Yes beer here is pretty cheap a 6 pack is: 8-9$ 12 pack: 15-16 max and 24: 23 to 29.99
The most costly is Corona! Don't know why...

beer is good alcohol! (not always though) i'm not sure what province on a dick! is located in..but it sounds like quebec? if thats the case, unibroue is the shit! i'd love having that stuff available at every bar and restaurant instead of budweiser, bud light, miller light, etc. even the typical imports they have on draft here i only get because they are better than the american macro shit. i'd gladly take a bottled (or even canned) american micro brew over any of the usual beers available at bars/restaurants here.

hahaha Yes im from Quebec, and im starting being tired of Unibroue....we just drink it...i prolly tasted all Unibroue's
Compared to other beers, yes Unibroue is better.
And beer makes you puke everywhere when you drink too much...i love drink too much with something good...i never puke with something else than beer.
I hate american beers personally, IMO.

thats probably because you guys don't get any micro brewery american beer. we really get a bad reputation thanks to budweiser and friends. but unibroue is one of my favorite breweries from anywhere in the world. i guess i might not hold them to that level if it was something i drank everyday, though my wallet wouldn't appreciate that.
haha you've never puked from drinking liquor?? i don't too often..though i don't drink it much anymore..but i have puked my brains out a number of times after getting a bit carried away with liquor.
drinking some good american beer right now
allagash four. brewed, bottled, and corked in portland, maine, usa (4 malts, 4 hops, and 4 fermentations = 10% belgian style quadruple ale)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_1794.jpg
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4/16655 (great rating on ba)
a nice ruby/amber colored ale. smells of yeast, a little bit of alcohol, sort of sweet and spicy. tastes great! not incredibly heavy like i'd have guessed. very smooth, i wouldn't guess this stuff was 10% ABV at all. the taste is sweet. not as much yeast coming through in the taste as with the smell. slightly malty, finishes with a little bitterness that lingers..i guess from the hops. minor lacing. i guess the alcohol might be noticeable in the end..the bitterness lingers on with a tiny bit of warmth. i like drinking the alcohol in beer, but i don't really care for it having much if any influence on the flavor. here it is very mild so it doesn't bother me at all. i've had less alcoholic beers that put me off because i could taste every bit of the alcohol in it. the sweetness makes me think of fruit but not citrus fruits or anything..more like grapes, raisins, etc. "dark fruits" i guess people say hah.
if you see this stuff, buy it! it's not cheap though...but its a limited production beer. they'll make more, but i think only so often, and possibly using a slightly different blend of ingredients. there is also a barrel aged four. i haven't seen it, but i would snap some up without question if i saw some. i'd say this could be my favorite from allagash i've tried..though so far i've only had their dubbel reserve and the white.

^i lived in montreal for a while ... unibroue is sold cheap in 40s at the corner stores. i tried them all and i didn't really like any of them ... fin du monde was my fave out of them it's got kind of a champagne thing happening (and it's 10% i think). they all have a really distinct aftertase which you either love or hate ime (think swiss chalet sauce or something else steaky). my favorite canadian beers were st ambroise oatmeal stout, wellington iron duke, and sleeman honey brown.
i really like hoegaarden w lemon or lime and my favorite mixed beer was bellvue + guiness (had some 'fog' name). i tried a few of the chimay's one time and i liked those too, but they were the red/white/blue not the maroon 40 you see more commonly (which tastes like gravy blech).
for shots i like godfather (amaretto+whisky) and liquid coke (jager+goldschlager+?).
mixed i like long islands, zombies, white russians...
at home it's usally gin and juice, or in summer gin in a slush! hell yea

40s? you mean 750ml? la fin du monde (i think it's 9%, but close enough) is my favorite one as well..though it's spot at the top is being challenged closely by trois pistoles, and don de dieu.
thanks to bassbehemoth, i was able to try that st. ambroise oatmeal stout once. i agree, it's some really good fucking beer!
bob, if you ever come to the states, check this thread, there are plenty of reviews of good american beer.

haha a 40z of Unibroue, yeah I'm sure he meant a 750ml champange-like bottle.
Hey, cheers for your beers too graf..I still like about them time to time.
I drink a LOT of St. Ambroise OS when I'm in downtown Halifax, however there is only one bar that has it on tap. I actually had one on Friday with fish and chips with a friend of mine..$10.05 including a beer! The $8.95 fish and chips were on special though.
I guess Quebec doesn't get a lot of american microbrews, if any at all. Yeah, most people here would say, "American beer is watered down piss"..and I did too until I actually tried some non-Bud/Coors/Miller beers. Rogue was the company that definitely did it for me.
Puke off just beer? Man, I wish I could do that. lol. If I puke beer it's definitely from the whiskey/tequila/vodka/scotch/etc I've been drinking with it.
I had some scotch the other night with a growler of Propeller of RIS and growler of IPA. I forget what it was though...

i've puked from drinking beer..usually i drank a shitload of beer, or wasn't feeling good in the first place. but liquor will definitely do the trick if i get too crazy with it! hell from the night i last puked...i still have a bit of scotch in my glass on my desk. i just try to avoid that stuff during the weeknights.

Kleex: Yeah i know where you lived, damn man it's high-cost appartement there! how could you pay it?!?!..The place you talked about is indeed named: Bière DU Monde.
Xgrafcorex: yeah, here we dont have any micro-brews from USA. We just have Bud, Coors, Miller dry, Milwaukee, and others shitty-taste beers.....BLACK LABEL 10%
St. Ambroise taste very good, how much for these beer guys?...I just want to compare with here!
It's weird but, i can drink a 40oz of liquor without puke.....but pass 7-8 beers...I'm starting feeling bad

Shit, I've puked from beer too..but definitely not recently. I honestly don't think I've puked after just drinking craft beer, regardless of the amount/percentage. Fizzy cheap lager, definitely.
And well, I know you smoke weed...and that definitely can assist in getting pretty dizzy.
Edit - Bob, a sixer of St. Ambroise OS/blonde/pale ale/etc is either $11-13 here, I forget exactly. They are only sold in private liquor stores. The NSLC has a mixed sixpack for $11-12.
Edit - Holy crap, I just searched the exact price on the NSLC site..There are new listings for all of the St.Ambroise/McAuslan products! Woah! No items in inventory yet, but St. Ambroise OS I can pick up a 10 minute walk from my place! WOOOO.
Active MCAUSLAN GRIFFON EXTRA PALE CANADA 6x341ml $9.40 $1.32 $0.60 $11.32
Active MCAUSLAN GRIFFON RED ALE CANADA 6x341ml $9.40 $1.32 $0.60 $11.32
Active MCAUSLAN ST AMBROISE PALE ALE CANADA 6x341ml $9.40 $1.32 $0.60 $11.32

Active MCAUSLAN TASTE PACK CANADA 6x341ml $10.71 $1.50 $0.60 $12.81
Active MCAUSLAN APRICOT WHEAT ALE CANADA 6x341ml $11.04 $1.55 $0.60 $13.19
Active MCAUSLAN GRIFFON EXTRA PALE CANADA 12x341ml $18.21 $2.55 $1.20 $21.96
Active MCAUSLAN ST AMBROISE PALE ALE CANADA 12x341ml $18.21 $2.55 $1.20 $21.96
Active MCAUSLAN GRIFFON RED ALE CANADA 12x341ml $18.21 $2.55 $1.20 $21.96
There. The price, tax, bottle deposit and total price. Off to BeerAdvocate to report my findings! lol.

I tried this tonight http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/64/1161
Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale. It was pretty damn good. Kinda hoppy for a brown ale but nothing I couldn't take. It was also on sale - $8.49 a 6 pack which is a deal in my book. I'll definatley be getting this beer again.

moe - yea that iba was not bad at all! had a 6 pack of it a little ways back...wrote a review for it somewhere in this thread..
bob - lucky you! here they can fuck with you just for having an open container of alcohol...even if you aren't driving or drunk. so people walk around with brown paper bags over the cans/bottles...as if that isn't a big fucking sign that says "HEY! I'M DRINKING BOOZE!"
bass - good news about all those beers. hah i just watched the latest trailer park boys and could see the wall in the background in the NSLC said "beers of the world" and had sections..the only one i could see was europe. one store here has it broken down like that somewhat.

First of all...A 7.20% India Brown Ale? hahaha, godamn I wish we could get DFH up here.
Yes, I'm pretty sure our "Beers of the World" is just Europe..ha, except for some Aussie shit-brews and Sapporo, which the stuff we drink is brewed in Canada under Sleeman..
Well, I hope everything is fine with those beers..and it's not just stock that they're supplying to Primer. I also saw a 0 inventory of Rogue Brutal Bitter in 330ml bottles.... for $18!
Trans - If you come to Canada and eventually go to Quebec there is a fairly decent microbrew/brewpub you could check out in Moncton, NB. They only sell a few of their beers here, but they were a little above average. The company is called Pump House.
http://www.pumphousebrewery.ca/
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/7008
NB has a pretty terrible beer selection. I think there is a few Propeller styles that they carry however.
Or you could come to Halifax and drink with the best of them.
Oh, are you 19 yet? I guess that would be a defining factor..because the legal age in Quebec is 18 as well as a couple of other provinces, elsewhere it's 19. Oh, I guess you're turning 19 hence the trip for your birthday..

I rarely voimt from alcohol....ever. The last time I did vomit, I drank about a liter of shit vodka, and it wasn't til the next morning when my head felt like it was being crushed in a vice that the first bits of upchunk slipped their way through my cheeks.. That's also the night I decided it was alright for me to drive 30 miles in a stupor.

well if either of you canadians ever come down to florida, i'll take you to a few beer stores or bars and i'll show you whats up with american beer! as long as you know what styles you like, so i'm not giving you a bunch of shit you wouldn't like anyway. then you can go back up to canada and tell your friends how great american beer is.
this weekend i'll be picking up more beer..but also i have a bottle of oak aged yeti imperial stout in the fridge...cracking that bitch open today!

You're obviously drinking the wrong kind of beers. Just do you research on what you can get in your area...you won't be disappointed. I'm sure you guys get Rogue at the very least, considering it is brewed in Oregon.
I opted out of the $30 Beglian mixed sixer(piraat, gulden drak, etc) to refill my three growlers at Propeller, RIS, IPA and ESB...gotta love those acronyms.
I also bought my friend and I Propeller "craft soda", root beer and ginger beer. They make a really good cream soda and orange soda as well. Kinda funny driving and drinking the root beer, which is in a beer bottle.

thats like IBC root beer....comes in a dark brown bottle.
i guess propellors root beer isn't alcoholic? sam adams makes this "brewer patriot pack" that has some old style root beer that is alcoholic. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/35/30858
didn't get good ratings. tastes different to say the least. i only had a swig (my roommate bought the 4 pack)..but it wasn't something i liked that much. i definitely didn't make plans to buy my own 4 pack. honestly i can't remember too well..it was a while ago.

i missed that south florida BA gathering...but i did look up the place they went to, and one of my roommates and i went today for dinner and beer. it's called brother tuckers. they have some damn good food...i just had their burger that has jalapenos, cheese, hot sauce, etc. really good food...still kinda full. but the main reason i wanted to go was the beer. they have a lot of good beer..mostly in bottles though. they have at least 4 beers on tap at all times..and from what i've read, they change them a lot. on tap they had weihenstephaner hefeweissen (sp?), nostradamus, avery ipa, and st. bernardus wit. i had a couple ipas and a wit.
it wasn't the cheapest place i've ever been too...so i won't be there too often..but i mentioned that ba gathering to him and he said they were talking about making it a monthly thing, so i might hit that up in the last month or two i live down here. the owner is the main chef..seemed like the only person working at the time almost. he was pretty cool..talked to him about local beer stores, the one brewpub here, and a couple bars that carry a good selection of beer. he pointed one out that i'm not familiar with..but i forgot what it was called or where it was.
right now just drinking a woodchuck dark and dry cider...something light since i'm still kinda full...after this i think i'm gonna smoke this dark cigar with some oak aged yeti is!

We don't get much American beer. I live in a rather small city in northern B.C.
I find it strange though... We get all kinds of Dutch, Scandinavian, German, Turkish, Belgian, Japanese and Australian beer... but we barely have any American beer in our big liquor stores.
(Oh btw... 300'th fuckin' post biatches!)

I drank way too much last night with a couple of buddies. Most of the alcohol was consumed in my pool. The beverages included were:
6 pack of Dog Fish Head Indian Brown Ale
12 pack of Keystone Ice - had to try it. Never heard of it before. lawl...
6 pack of Anchor Porter
750 ml bottle of Yellow Tail Cabernet (sp?) Savingnon (sp?)
I woke up with a hangover from hell because that was teh order they were drunk in.

Negra Modelo is fairly decent, and at a good percentage(5.4%)..I've tried a 6-7 Mexican beers when I was in Mexico/brought home and the large majority are complete shit. Most probably could have been brewed by JOLLY THE GREEN GIANT...a CORNY joke I know...LZOLZOLZLL.
This was the only thing other than the Modelo that had taste other than just corn.

I can't drank highlife anymore. That shit tastes worse than keystone light to me now.
The best Mexican beer, that I've had, is either Modelo or Bohemia.

i'm just used to the shit life i guess. its easy to drink fast and doesn't taste too terrible. cheap too.
i've never had that bohemia before..honestly i usually steer clear of the central/south american stuff. just recently tried that xingu because its dark and someone said it was good.
tonight i might go up to that brother tuckers place again and meet up with some people from BA. they haven't pmed me back with what time though...hopefully not too late...otherwise i might just start drinking before and not wind up going.

Definitely. There were the only two I've tried that didn't taste like steamed corn.

Blue Moon is delicious. Isn't that a wheat beer? If so, it's like a good cheaper version of Hoegaarden.

How common is Blue Moon? It might be just the beer that I'm looking for.

blue moon is pretty common. i can get it at pretty much any grocery store here, also at plenty of gas stations! thats cause as trans said, it's a coors product. they try to be clever and not put their name on it to appeal to people that don't necessarily care for macro beer.

Requiem, you should have no problem finding that beer in Texas.
Graf: I just found a gas station here in town that sells samuel smith brews and fueller's as well. It's pretty killer.

nah, it's pretty good for a macro beer. i'm just saying it's very widespread at least down here...can buy it almost anywhere. i'd much rather drink it than coors/bud/miller/etc. some places might serve it to you with an orange slice or something...i'd take it out myself..but others leave it or even squeeze the juice into the beer.

Canada: Alexender keith's, Sleeman, Belle-Gueule, everything of St.Ambroise, Richard reds (if you have suicidal tendencies), everything of Molson if you wanna throw up...
These are pale ale, light and good during summer

I'm sure they sell it somewhere..hmmm.
Yeah, fuck the weather..if you're thirsty just chug the heavy beers.
Eh, fuck keiths/sleeman/rickards(molson)..unless you want to drink a tad above average macro lagers or bad versions of the represented styles.
I was drinking IPA and ESB the other afternoon on my balcony with a buddy of mine. I definitely wish I could have access to more "summer" beers though..

Yes i think you can have some in states, maybe not in florida because it's too far away, but he lives only 3-4 hours of the lines Canada/usa.
yes, St.Ambroise is good, but there are many others he can get that he wont be able to find in his own town. Dont worry guys, I will help him, I know beers from here very well!
