Anyways, I have money to blow on beer and don't have any plans tonight. LOL.

ha nice..i had a la fin du monde with lunch today. only one left in the fridge now.
damn..thats a ton of rogue! i'd have to sit and think about how many i've had..i'm pretty sure its not even 15 though. let us know what you get!
i got a nice chunk of beer after work. bought a 6 pack of hazed and infused dry hopped ale from boulder beer co.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_1193.jpg
its definitely infused with hops. you can smell it right before your lips touch the glass. is says on the bottle they are crystal and centennial hops. that could even be in addition to the standard hops boulder beer co uses...i'm not sure though. i just know many companies will do something like that to carry a somewhat consistent flavor across their entire range of offerings.
i think this is a good beer. maybe its a tad too bitter for me. i still like it though..and certainly don't regret buying it. 8.99 a six pack...not the cheapest beer, but not the most expensive for sure. compared to other really hoppy beers, this seems lacking slightly. i think great divide, avery, flying dog..and others make a better beer that is focused on hops being the featured ingredient. i'd buy it again though..but not sure when.
i also bought two larger corked bottles. i'm really fucking looking forward to these two!
left hand brewing co. 2007 oak aged imperial stout
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/418/36157
only so much of this stuff will be sold i'm assuming because of the fact that it has the year in the name. it was 12.99 for a 750ml i might just buy another for aging..or if i really can't resist..i'll buy a few, drink some and age the rest.
buffalo belgian stout from Brouwerij Van den Bossche
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/893/20345
i've never had a belgian stout before. belgian ales are one of my favorite styles and stouts have been one for a while so i grabbed this one as soon as i figured out what it was.
just for the hell of it i bought a 4 pack of trois pistoles to compare how much i like that one to la fin du monde.
heres some other random pictures i took over the last week or two but just got around to uploading to photobook.
mojo ipa from boulder brewing co.

never summer also from bbc^ (winter ale)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_1193.jpg
karma ale from avery brewing co. (belgian style pale ale...very good shit. i will be buying more of this. not shit your pants good..but its not very expensive at all and is damn good.)

Awesome posts guys. Keep it up!
I bought $43 worth of Belgian's last night. lol. Two 750ml Chimay Blue, one Chimay red, two Orval, two Delirium Tremens and one Duvel. I think that's all...
Drank a 750ml of Chimay blue, an Orval and a La Fin Du Monde last night. I ended on LFDM, what a beauty that drink is.
I'm pretty pissed off with the beer selection here though...not much I haven't tried that's worth trying..

that delirium tremens is some pretty good shit. right now i'm having some high life light haha. its almost 3 in the morning and i don't feel like drinking the good shit..saving that stuff.
i've never had that orval...have to keep an eye open to see if they carry it down here.
yea, that sucks you guys have such a limited selection. you should organize some kind of petition to change some of the laws so they can import more american beer..or even other imports we get here. from the main beer store i go to, i think i've had roughly half of what they carry. maybe a little more..maybe a little less, tough to say.

lol, a beer petition. Well, mainly it's the fucking government's fault for having the godamn monopoly and cut on every liquor bottle sold here. I go into a NSLC store(government store) and buy a Chimay red with the bb date of 2006. Which means that that bottle was sitting in their stock for more than a few years...
Propeller seems to be booming, almost everything I go to my local store they are refilling the stock. I think it will take awhile when they realize that NS actually has a market for real beer, and canadian and american macro garbage.
This province just has bullshit laws. Many other provinces that have more of a free booze trade(not all government controlled) have a much greater beer selection.
Edit - And graf, definitely pick up an Orval sometime..they are delicious, the head they yield is pretty crazy as well. It looks like fucking yorkshire pudding.

It's the exact same here, minus 2-3 stores province wide.

Has anybody here tried the spicy and burning Sailor Jerry?
That was the first vodka I ever touched.

That's rum, not vodka. I suggest you read the packaging on bottled liquids, otherwise a bottle of drain cleaner might spell a rather nasty end to your vital functions.

i've never even seen that rum that i know of blizzardb. the description sounds good though.
my roommate had a bottle of that sailor jerry though..i tried a glass of it...pretty decent shit. i'm not nearly as experienced with different liquors as beers though. usually i just drink the "macro" liquors i guess you could say. these days, i barely even touch liquor. but i do know that blizb is right...its not vodka.

Yep, it's a definite plus..most provinces have a majority of private liquor stores.
I'm going to try to talk my friends into a road to Quebec this summer. See some great bands, and drink some even better beer. I guess this guy who I recently started hanging around with again has done a few across canada before...maybe he'd be interested in going south of the boarder. SOUTH TO BANGOR.

hah cross country beer trip eh? sounds like fun.
do you know what the laws are in regards to crossing into america sr. and bringing back a ton of beer to america jr.? my first guess is that they wouldn't make a big deal about it if you just had some beer..but if you loaded up your car full of beer..they might complain. i have no idea though..never driven into canada before.

I'm pretty sure you can only bring back a 24 pack of 341ml(11.5oz) and vice versa for both countries per person.
That is if they check your trunk...haha, you can always bring more than that but you have to declare it and pay up the ass.

Now that you mentioned it, I'll stop drinking that Listerine stuff and putting Baking Soda on my steak.
If I am correct, the drinking age in Costa Rica is 16? I'm taking a class trip there, so I doubt I'll be touching anything.

lucky ass pope...actually not sure if it would be worth it...considering all the other shit he has to do that doesn't involve beer.
thats the rum you ordered blizzard? how is it?
hell fucking yea! just got home from this other beer store i found out about on BA and i am impressed! great selection, AND better prices than the beer store i normally go to. they have over or about 200 types of beer. i bought a 6 pack of avery IPA, a small bottle of orval, bottle of wychwood fiddler's elbow, a single stoudt's pils (german style pilsner...normally i don't buy pilsners..but this one is very tasty), another single stoudt's belgian style triple, a single of scrimshaw pilsner from north coast brewing co. (haven't had this one..but ncb has some damn good beer), a single of woodchuck dark and dry cider, and last, a single of unibroue don de dieu.
i'm psyched about this place...i even told the girl that rang me up that i'd be coming in there all the time now that i know about it.

I've been losing my taste in beer over the past few weeks. I've been doning coke and acid. I'm ashamed of myself. Time to get to the point. Obviously, I live in North America and I wanted to know what every ones favorite bottled beer is.

yea..definitely don't give up beer to get into coke and acid. at least neither of those will make you fat..but still.
favorite bottled beer? ouch... thats a tough one! honestly i don't think i'm capable of deciding that one..some of the ones that come to mind are yeti imperial stout, old rasputin imperial stout, la fin du monde, trois pistoles, avery ipa, corsendonk brown abbey ale, oh and i don't know how i forgot shakespeare stout.

Yeah...favourite bottled better might as well be "favourite beer"..unless you drink a lot of shitty beer.
I drank a pitcher of St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout at lunch yesterday, where I had fish and chips. We later went to my friend's house and jammed, where I consumed a growler of Propeller ESB and a growler of RIS.
My gut is in expand mode.
My dad picked me up on my way home and I only said I have a couple of beer. lol.

hah that reminds me of when i had to do 10-12 hours of alcohol therapy. they guy made me keep a log of how much (and what) i drank for a week. i would put down 4 beers..but it would really be 4 quarts of OE800.
the best part was that it was 10 to 12 hours i had to do...hmmm...i think i'll take 10..

Well, it's like the majority of people not knowing any underground metal bands.
You gotta take the time to search for the good shit.

Coke is fun. Acid is my favorite drug. However, I don't do any of them frequently.
Tonight, I went old school with straight up Guniess Draught. Tastey but too expensive. They should only make Christains pay "sin tax."

well i won't really give you any shit about it reqtum..just be careful. that shit is addictive..and i'm pretty sure nobody started doing coke with the intention of becoming addicted to it.
i can't wait to get out of work tomorrow and go back to that new store! my only 2 complaints with the store are: 1. i couldn't find any arrogant bastard. i've heard about this shit a number of times...i've even seen it in a movie (cabin fever) and i'd really like to try it. i just haven't seen it on sale here anywhere. 2. they have a ton of single bottles for sale..but not nearly as many 4/6/12 packs available. they have plenty..but not nearly as many singles...and those singles add up before you know it.
yesterday i had that orval and don de dieu. two awesome beers. i was going to write a quick review on the orval..but wound up watching return of the living dead with my roommate and drank it during the movie. it was great shit though...very smooth. not sure how much alcohol is in there..but i didn't notice much if any influence it had on the flavor. i'll definitely be buying some more..same with the don de dieu (belgian style pale ale).
i drank the don de dieu before the orval right after i got home..so my memory is not quite as distinct. maybe i should make the jump over to being an ultimate beer geek and actually jot down notes after drinking each beer.
edit...nah moe blunts..i haven't ever had that one. i don't know if victory gets distributed down here or not..but if it was available, i'd have tried it by now..i love hoppy ipas! sounds damn good though..i'll keep my eyes open.

ha thats fucking crazy. i didn't have any la fin du monde..i drank the last one a few days back. going to the store today with one of my roommates (the guy that posted once as thedreadedspank) that is getting into beers..at least ipas and pale ales...he does like some belgian style ale also.
he applied for a job at abc liquor and i guess they have a decent beer selection, so he picked up some indica ipa from lost coast brewery http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/256/1670 which was pretty fucking good. i never even realized it was an ipa and had never tried it before.
also had a bottle of stoudt's triple http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/394/20746 also some damn good beer. stoudt's has some tasty offerings..just a little on the expensive side. this stuff has a nice amber color to it. a little hazy too...i guess because it is bottle conditioned. i poured it slow as shit and didnt get much for head..but its there. you can taste the alcohol (9%) but honestly i don't really mind it..the taste seems to blend in with the rest of the flavors and is balanced out pretty well. good shit that i'll drinking again sometime...though not too often as its not the cheapest beer out there.
edit. yea trans, if you are interested in a beer trade..i'd like to trade for some arrogant bastard. can you also get the oak aged ab? if you are interested, let me know..i can get pretty much every beer i've posted about. (some were seasonal or limited production though) it should be not as illegal as trading with bassb in canada, and also a lot cheaper.

im think im quitting t3h rumz. ill be 21 in 20 days, and i'll be able to get into beer a lot easier. i bet my parents are interested in observing what i'll have in the fridge, and the rate at which it will be had. haha. so i see this as the perfect chance to see if i can avoid being drunk for 3 weeks.

Word...BAer's trade all the time, but usually within their country to save on shipping/possible customs trouble.
Good to see you didn't get arrested yet. lol.

thats cool time..i like drinking liquor..but i love drinking beer. with liquor..i usually am not capable of much other than drinking more after awhile. at least with beer, it takes a while to get drunk so i can still play guitar and whatnot. my parents hate how much i drink..though i'm not sure if they know exactly how much i drink. when i was living at home for a summer after i was 21..i got arrested and lost my license..so after work i'd just come home, drink and play the guitar. (this is on cherry point tm) 30 packs of high life for 10.50 and no tax!! awww sheeeit! well..my mom did a little snooping around while i was at work a few times and noticed how fast i'd get through the cases and so my parents sat down and started talking to me about it. apparently some of my relatives are alcoholics so they are worried about me becoming one.
i've slowed down a lot and part of that is from drinking better beer that is more expensive also. i started drinking more to appreciate the stuff (and still to get drunk.) with less focus on getting shitfaced. now i sometimes bring beer with me to my parents house to share with them, or buy some locally. we even all went out as a family to this brewpub/restaurant and had a kick ass time.
bass - ha yea i'm glad to see i haven't been arrested yet too! have you been following the package with that tracking link? its in quebec now and has had some import scan or something...but it doesn't say its in transit yet. progress seems to have slown down a bit since crossing the border. it seems like its on schedule though to arrive monday. heres to hoping it makes the last leg of the journey!
damnit..i hate talking about beers while at work. drank my last avery ipa last night like a dumbass...should've saved it for lunch today. i had to drink water.

No, I haven't bothered to rummage through hundreds of emails to find the UPS email.
Beer with lunch? I fucking love doing that. I've been eating a lot of fish and chips recently with a small groups of friends, and nothing goes better than a good micro or brewpub porter/stout.

as long as i have a good beer in the fridge..i have one with lunch when i go home for an hour. sometimes i have to watch out for what kind of beer and what type of food though...so far i haven't really come across anything that was terrible.
the direct link to the ups status is in a pm i sent you the other day. i just click the link in my inbox instead of signing into yahoo.
the last activity was at 6:41pm yesterday: location scan lachine, qc, ca that was right after an arrival scan, import scan, and hub scan all at the same location. i don't know what the fuck its been doing since then..but i hope its not still sitting there..though thats what its doing. they have a departure scan when it leaves. i hope they are not being drank by french canadian ups employees!

ha i'll keep that in mind. its pretty rare i eat burritos or drink any lager..so its unlikely these two events will occur in the same sitting.
i figure any beer with strong/complex flavors will be tough to match with any food that also has a strong or complex flavor. they'll just fight for dominance. ba has some food pairings for each beer pretty much..but some of them don't really apply to me at least. many of them say eat this or that kind of cheese with it. i guess you could always put the cheese on something..but its pretty much never the case that i'll sit down to eat some cheese.
fuck! i was hoping to get out of work early today since its been slow as hell. now theres 10 minutes to go till the regular time i leave. can't fucking wait though..gonna grab my roommate and head to the beer store.

It's probably holding there until some UPS truck/plane comes east.
haha, godamn french canadi3nz...amazing the quality of beer they can make though, seeing how they are into that wine stereotype. Quebec is supposed to have several awesome brewpubs and even more local microbreweries.

Wow, that really is awesome news! Dieppe is in New Brunswick, adjacent to Nova Scotia. Now I'm going to have to find a good box...or reuse your's if it's in good shape. haha, I'll re-gift.
GO UNCHECKED CUSTOMS!! WOOOO!!!
Next shipment...4 kilos of uncut, Bolivian Cocaine.

The Drafthouse is awesome. In fact, that was the venue I got kicked out of last week while attempting to sit through Grindhouse. I've actually been kicked out more than once....but the people there are pretty cool. It takes quite a bit of button pushing before they get violent.
Today, I'll probably drink cheap domestic beer. I'm thinking Zeigen Bock or Lonestar.

Just because a beer is "infused with fruit", does not mean it's a girl drink.

how are those sam adams? i've never had either of those styles.
was over at basstendencies house this weekend. we had some leinenkugel's red lager http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/710/2355 , spaten oktoberfest http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/142/582 , also some old no. 28 stout and old rasputin stout.
i don't drink many lagers anymore, but the leinenkugels red was pretty good. nothing crazy good..but i would easily choose this over any of the macro beers.
the spaten oktoberfest was really good. not holy shit i'm buying some more of this when i get home..but i would say this is either my favorite from spaten, or my second favorite. worth a try..especially if you like the style of beer, or the brewing company.
other pics i was lazy and didn't upload

allagash white

http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4/59
this is some good shit! have heard good things about allagash, just never tried any of their beer. this one has pouring instructions on the side..its another beer that gets poured most of the way, then swirled to unsettle the yeast and pour it into the beer. obviously this is a cloudy beer. it has a nice head. i took the picture a little later and the head had dissipated some. smells good...not too yeasty smelling..smells like wheat, yeast, and maybe some fruit or something sweet. the taste is similar. easy drinking..nice smooth and balanced flavor. has a light sweet flavor to it..can also taste the wheat and a little yeast. nothing really is very dominant, just seems to work together for a solid witbier taste. i'm already looking forward to trying the other allagash thats available here.
i bought a handful of other singles..one of which was some he brew. we've always joked about this stuff since two of my roommates are jewish, but none of us had ever actually bought any of it. its the messiah bold http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/4/59 i'll post a picture of the bottle once i drink that one.
the real treat is going to be later though...got a bomber of yeti oak aged imperial stout!

hah well i had posted about those beers and i never got around to uploading any of the pics. been lazy like that recently and just kind of post a bunch in the occasional lump. i'll be posting some more either tonight or tomorrow.
yea, you'll probably like the allagash white if you liked that sam adams white ale and the hoegaarden. i can't say much about any of their other beers, other than that i will be trying them all after having had that one.
edit...the new store i've been going to has that zywiec lager...i don't know if i'm going to try it or not though. the porter wasn't really that good..and if i remember correctly, you and someone else didn't really care for it?
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_1375.jpg
he'brew messiah bold. "a dark brown ale" its actually a bit better than i expected. i'm not a big fan of jewish food..so i wasn't quite sure what to expected from a jewish beer. its good though..somewhat malty flavor and a fairly light body that makes it easy to drink. it has a slightly roasted flavor to it...also can taste some of the hops. all in all, i am enjoying this beer and will be trying the pale ale that they have as well.

yea, you are right, its from saratoga. pretty good stuff considering its the only jewish beer i know of. i'd honestly be a bit nervous to try some of the ethnic beer in the area if t here is any.
not sucking and not being amazing sounds typical of sam adams to me. they are good...not great...not bad. better than most every other macro brewery...not as good as a lot of micro breweries. right in the middle.
yea...i'm not planning on buying any more zyweic. i love porter but really didn't like their porter. any other style they have (only lager that i know of..) is bound to be as bad. not always the case...but usually they use similar ingredients to carry a brand flavor.

I had my first Flying Dog Horn Dog Barley Wine tonight, at a whopping 10.5% abv.
It was alright, a fresh single from the shelf and a 2005 vintage....
They sell the four packs, which I'd assume are almost from 2005. lol..

haha, weird on the same beer choice..they sell a lot of Flying Dog here for some reason, except their Gonzo Porter, which is the only thing I really want to try.
Godamn, you must be building some godamn huge bottle collection.

bass - hah yea that is pretty fucking random about the horn dog. the gonzo porter is pretty good shit..that sucks they don't sell that one. theres a few i saw on ba that they don't sell here. imperial pale ales and whatnot.
yea..the bottles are piling up. honestly, its getting to the point where i'll be needing to shuffle stuff around on my bookshelf of finally get rid of this tv on my drawing table. its not even plugged in, doesnt' get cable, and is otherwise shitty.
time - check your local good beer stores..or even some of those organic/fancy/gourmet grocery stores. the company that brews that stuff is from colorado (you are in texas right?) so i would figure they distribute it down there. if you really can't ever find it..i can always trade with you for some beer i can't buy out here.
if you go onto beeradvocate.com and into the forums..theres probably some talk of good beer stores in your area. thats how i found out about the one that still sells the oak aged yeti. my usual store ran out and hasn't gotten any more since. even the regular yeti imperial stout is damn good. they are both in the top 100 beers if i'm not mistaken. i know at least one of them is.
