'm hugely into red wine at the moment, especially South African stuff, the best drunk feeling i've ever had, very warm and clear, great, cheap wine!
On my dad's advice I tried a Jap lager, "Kirin Ichiban", "Kirin Number One", I was surprised, it wasn't very good! Apparently in Japland lager is like £7 a pint where-as whiskey is like £9 a bottle! (this is all comming from my dad, he works over there). He drinks a lager called "Asahi Super Dry", the name makes me piss myself when he says it!

Whatever the story is behind that I hope it has a happily ever after to it. That's cool you're hanging out with him.

Gross! Corn and rice do not belong in beer...if you want to drink rice, drink sake.
However, "BILK" makes me crack every time I even think of the word.

Bilk? HA. It seems counterintuitive to combine alcohol (a substance that matures and tastes better aged) with milk (a substance that spoils and turns chunky after a couple of weeks). Silly chinks.

lol. I'm sure your stomach would LOVE you after drinking a case of BILK.
Well, some breweries still make Milk Stout.
From BA -
"A sweet stout variation also includes lactose or milk sugar, and often additions of cane or other fermentable sugars for priming, dubbed a Milk Stout."
Not exactly mixing milk with beer though. Godamn, I can't wait to drink on Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to get over to the Propeller brewery and pick up their Russian Imperial Stout. GODAMN, I'm so addicted to it. Seriously guys, especially moe_bluntz(being 21 now)...try to find some Russian Imperial Stout at your local beer stores if you haven't done so already. Or hell, even a good Oatmeal stout. Both can have all the great tastes of a fine, creamy porter, yet so much more flavour and much more gratifying.

haha, wise words! A month is a long time, oh well...probably good to give your body a little rest.
Yeah me too...I'm going to get fucking crunked Friday and probably have a couple of beers Saturday night for UFC. A few good Belgians to sip on during some good man fights sounds like a fucking blast.
Oh yeah, SuperBowl this weekend...crack open those Bud Light. lol.

How much does an average draught pint cost you? And when I mean average, I mean 12oz(341ml)...the dumbed down American pint. lol. 16oz pints are for millionaires.

All depends where I drink, anything from £1.30 - £2.50 if not more!
My favoured tipple is Guiness, so naturally that costs more but those prices are for any draught lager or ale.

Ok, roughly the same here...sometimes I just hate tipping those cunts.
I wish I could go to bars more often but I'm an unemployed student and it's too fucking expensive. We maritimers are known for our kitchen parties. Great times...and you're near the most important thing...the fridge.
However, St. Patrick's Day I'm DEFINITELY going to probably just one bar at 10am, and not leaving for the day. I have not been to the bars for this holiday yet. It's a few days before my birthday so I'll ask for cash in advance from my family.

What's the legal purchasing age in Canada?
I'm gonna buy a keg of sierra nevada pale ale on saturday for my b-day. I know a store that have it for $65 which is a hookup. It's gonna be real drunk.

damn thats a great fucking deal! i forget how much the kegs around here..but i'm pretty sure bud is at least 65! i'll be stopping by
that bilk sounds pretty fucked if you ask me..maybe its not so terrible..but i couldn't imagine liking it very much at all. milk stout is as far as i'll go in that direction..or irish car bombs.
hah about the "american pints" as far as i know..a pint is a pint. i know there are plenty of bars here that will just pour a 12 oz bottle into a plastic cup..but at the same time, you can pretty much always order a good ol 16 oz pint glass.
i plan on doing plenty of drinking this weekend..basstendencies is supposed to be coming over tomorrow and hanging out till after the super bowl. gonna make a bunch of food..wings and not even sure what else..and plenty of beer...and no bud light! well if there is..i won't be drinking it unless i'm out of the good shit.

It's 19 for gambling, smokes and booze, except in Quebec...where the age is 18.
I think it's around the perfect age to be legal. Not too old, not too young..JUST RIGHT.
I wish I could buy some SN. The Americans are always ranting and raving about their Celebration Ale over at BeerAdvocate. Hell, I can't even buy Sam Adams, how fucked up is that? I guess the government booze stores used to sell it years ago..but have since stopped..perhaps there just wasn't the market for much micro brew at the time? Even in the rest of Canada you can't get much of it..aside from the Boston Lager.
But yeah, whenever one of my parents wants to visit my brother and his wife in Ottawa...I'm definitely going to pick up a lot of beer I wouldn't be able to find in these parts. Traveling with a purpose! haha.
I've never bought a full keg, just the smaller one's...mainly because of the deposit price.
Anyways, fuck you guys and your broad beer selection.

rough! boston lager is my second least favorite from sam adams..it only gets beaten by their cranberry lambic! its not even that either taste like ass..i just really don't care for them at all. i'd take them over bud light or something worse..but i'd have to consider it for a minute on the lambic.
sn celebration ale was pretty damn good! it didn't last too long at the beer store here. the owner said he had some either 04 or 05 sitting around getting old that he couldn't wait to crack open. their other beers are pretty good too..the stout is good..but i didn't seem to like it as much as i did the time before the last 6 pack i bought. i guess it just isn't great compared to some of the other stouts..or else i had a bad/old 6pack. i really like their porter and pale ale..the wheat is alright..but not one of my favorite wheat beers so far.
might've asked you this before..how long is the drive into the us? you should go with someone that can buy beer here and stock up! if you ever seriously wanted to do a trade..i'd trade you something for some of that st. ambroise..or a mix 12 pack..a few of that and trois pistoles and whatever else thats good..for a mix 12 of random beer here. ..my general understanding of it, after reading this or that and asking a few people some questions..it can be done..but theres a risk of it not working. i guess just pack the shit out of the space between each beer with styrofoam or lots of folded up newspaper..both is even better..then write fragile all over it...and i guess for good measure..write an incorrect return address so they don't know where it originated from. then hope for the best. i just wonder how shook up the beers would be by the time they made the journey. another thing that would suck is if one got through, and the other didn't hah.

bahaha, nice survival instructions graf! LOL. I'd think about a trade whenever I run into some extra cash money...so maybe when my dad goes to the Caribbean in a couple week and leaves me survival money. haha.
I thought you could pick up up the Trois Pistoles? I wouldn't really wanna trade that because it's stillfucking $18 a sixer(damn, i forgot to email to see if they are dropping the price)...but the st. ambroise OS is $12 a sixer so that would be a lot more reasonable.
But yeah, I'll definitely think about it..maybe I should actually find a job so I could trade with even canadians more often. All the westerners are after Propeller RIS. hehe, I had to turn down a few offers from guys on BA because I can't simply afford to trade.
Hmm, the nearest boarder to me is Holton, Maine I believe...so about 5 hours. I'm really hoping my friend goes to this car meet in Albany..I'm not sure how likely that will be, but I'd LOVE to do some shopping.
I'll be 21 in March, and I think this silly Nissan meet is in late May.
Hell, my family has drove to Flordia and back twice before. Both times were hell. I wish my aunt and cousins still lived in Brandon so I would have an excuse to visit you. lol.

Yes...$1 a drink is basically expected.
I wouldn't say rely on tips...but it definitely helps them make some extra cash.

nope..i asked them about the tp, but they said they havne't gotten it in a long time. just the blanche de chambly, la fin du monde, and one other that i can't remember. i'll be sure to try it after having the other two. good stuff. i just hate seeing that last little bit getting poured in the sink. ha the first one of the bdc i poured completely in my glass cause i didn't notice all that shit at the bottom, or the picture on the back of the bottle.
i wasn't thinking sending whole 12s or 6s, more mixing it up..a couple of each one or maybe just one of each, then if it works out and we traded again, we'd have an idea of what we'd like more or less of. that is some expensive ass beer though! i'd like to try that propeller as well. i'd probably send you some stuff from great divide, dogfish head, north coast brewing co, and not sure what else. unfortunately i don't know of any florida beer that is really good AND comes in bottles. the best florida beer i've had was from that place the tampa bay brewing co. but i don't think they bottle and sell the beer. if they do, it sure as hell doesn't make it this far from tampa. well let me know when or if you want to trade down the road. @ "excuse to see you" , yea just imagine, we could have cold russian imperial stouts and watch the florida sun set on a sandy beach. haha actually, i don't ever go to the beach really...we'd just drink at the house. tmfreak ever go up to canada? or has that not happened yet?
as for tipping...i tip the bartenders here. usually a dollar a drink. sometimes if i'm with friends that know the person behind the bar..they won't charge us for any drinks..and then we each just give them a real nice tip for hooking us up. i never really drink at bars anymore though...its expensive, and driving and drinking is a bad mix. there are quite a few within walking distance..but they are still not cheap..and none of them really have anything on tap besides macrobrews.
edit..yea i dont' know how much they rely on them..but i do know that if you are good, and work at a popular place..you can make a decent amount of money for sure...much more than i make.

I'm currently drinking a Young's Oatmeal Stout. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/152/928
It's alright....I prefer the texture of porters...more grainy and slightly more muted taste. This beer is preety damn tastey though, I must admit.
Next up, I have a Fuller's ESB http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/71/219
I can't fucking wait.
I got a question for all you alcoholics. Do you drink alone or with people more? Lately, I've been drinkin by myself because my schedule is pretty fucked....can't wait til this weekend.

I drink with people. It's anti-social to drink alone.
Kinda depends on what you call drinking, when I have a beer at my crib, watching telly, before getting my ass in bed I don't think that classifies.
When we're talking about real drinking, like at least 10 beers, then it's allways with friends, it's way more fun!
Went bowling yesterday and I totally suck at it, it's a strike or it's the gutter. Funny thing is that I tried to set a record and I succeeded, the computer told us the speed of the ball after each run. My record was 37,5 KMH
We played for about two hours and got a tab of 230 euro with 10 folks

nice..haven't had or seen the youngs os.. haven't had the fullers esb either..but its one of the ones i plan on trying in the near future. their porter was pretty damn good. if you like the esb, try to find red hook esb, or rogue brutal bitter.
moe..do you mean getting drunk alone? or just drinking?
drinking alone or with friends is not something i consider most of the time. sure i have a great time drinking with my friends..but i sit down and have beers by myself all the time. partly cause of my schedule too. they're all working or at class or i'm at work etc.
having 3-4 roommates makes it pretty hard to get drunk completely by myself..even if they aren't drinking with me or as much..they are still there and i talk to them here and there. so i'm not technically alone.
edit..but if it comes to the weekend and i'm the only one home..you can bet your ass i'm still getting drunk!

Godamnit, ok..I'll have to pick up some Trois Pistoles sometime soon then and save you one or two. No, tm pussed out at the last second..it would have been fun, but really expensive for the places I wanted to take him. I didn't have the gas money to drive him out in the woods and slaughter him. lol.
I'd love to try some dogfish head 60min, 90min or 120min IPA. Can you find Dark Lord Imperial Stout? Founder's Breakfast stout? Some Stone selections(AB, OAB, etc)...ok, maybe the beer I'm asking for is too rare?
Hmm..it would probably take me some time to think of a mixed 6 or 12 for you..I realize you've tried some fine brews so I have to try to pick some winners. I'm sure I could manage though. It's too bad I couldn't mail you a growler while it was fresh, because damn..the Propeller RIS is damn good fresh.
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout
Unibroue Trois Pistoles
Propeller Russian Imperial Stout
Propeller IPA
Propeller ESB
Propeller London Style Porter
Honestly, my selection of Canadian micros is pretty godamn bland. Hmm, I'll try to keep thinking about maybe some more stuff you can't get your hands on..like Unibroue Maudite, which I haven't yet tried.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22/33
Hmmm, the other local microbrewery is Garrison..I'm not too sure if it would worth sending anything from them. Perhaps their stout, it's about the only half decent beer they make currently.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1879/25639
Probably not worth your time though..and godamn I wish there was a 100% sure way customs wouldn't fuck up our trading.
moe - I unfortunately do not have access to any Young's products. But
Young's Double Chocolate Stout is supposed to be superior. Hell, at least the name sounds really good. lol.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/152/73
edit - Oh yeah, I rarely drink alone. At the most, a taste(1 or 2) of beer throughout the week. The only times I drink alone while drunk is when I come home from drinking all night and finish off a few beers leftover. Although most of the time I'm too drunk to even look at beer or there is no more left.

ha actually i was just at the store and maudite was the third one they had..so i got a 4 pack of that..i was also gonna grab the fullers esb, but i saw they had samuel smith oatmeal stout. since they normally don't have the ss os, i figured i'd get that now and try the esb later. i mentioned the idea of shipping to and from canada to the guy at the store and he had a pretty good idea i didn't think of. zip lock bags around all the bottles...i guess if glass cuts the bag its fucked..but if all the bottles were wrapped in say bubble wrap..then zip locked..the chances of beer spilling and soaking into the box (and then discovered by the customs people) it will just stay in the bag. i would plan on packing the shit out of the box so nothing could move an inch..but its a good step to add. the customs thing does bug me too though..what seems to be the success rate amongst ba people? we could even try a smaller amount first to see if it makes it through or not.
this sam smiths oatmeal stout is pretty fucking good! the first thing i think when i smell it is "roasted". you can taste it too. i like it a lot more than their nut brown ale...actually i think the nut brown is my least favorite of the three i've had. the old brewery pale ale is the only other one besides those two right?
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8418s.jpg
its not guinness..but thats my favorite guinness pint glass out of a set of 4 i got from a local bar a couple years ago.
some beer i had the other day
boddington's pub ale
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8407s.jpg
and
harpoon's ufo unfiltered wheat beer
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8409s.jpg
the boddington's i honestly didn't care for. i wound up taking large gulps to get to the wheat beer. it was creamier than any other ale i can think of that was as light as that.. but i just didn't like the flavor..maybe if it was in a bottle? i don't think that would make a lot of difference...i recently had a really good pale ale that is only available in cans. who knew?
the ufo was pretty good...i actually still have a couple in the fridge, and had one with lunch today. (i live close enough to drive home for lunch every day) this stuff is unfiltered..but it was pretty good stuff. i liked it a bit more than the sierra nevada wheat beer. harpoon also has an ipa that i tried a couple months ago, it was also a good beer..i'd be likely to try another harpoon beer if i came across any. both the wheat and the ipa are worth a shot.
oh yea..and there were two guys at the beer store working..one by the register and one putting some new beers in one of the coolers..hes telling the other guy about a new beer called collaboration not litigation. its from avery brewing co AND russian river brewing co. they both had a beer called salvation that they were selling..so instead of fighting for the rights to the name..they blended the beers together to make this new one that just came out.
http://www.averybrewing.com/BigBeer...otLitigationAle
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/34877
pretty funny story..i don't know why i didn't just buy some there..but i'll probably be checking that out since i've had the salvation from avery and it was pretty good. i think i posted it here about a month ago. never tried the other one..hell i hadn't even heard of russian river brewing co until now.

Godamnit graf..you are so lucky, hell...I've ever heard of both Avery and Russian River. lol.
Godamnit on the Maudite..I'm hoping to get over to the specialty beer store tomorrow or Saturday to see what they have in..hopefully they'll have something new.
Oh man, I bought two $18 Samuel Smith gift sets just for the Oatmeal Stout. lol..I fucking loved it! It's hard drinking oatmeal stouts after that one for comparison. I guess some people get all worked up about the SS bottles being clear, because they can get skunked from the light..but they, as with Wychwood, have changed to brown bottles for the best. The only place now where I can get SS is about a half hour drive away..and I don't have a car.
I loved the Nut Brown..and the Pale Ale I found really good too. Here's a pic I posted before of the Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, WITH MATCHING GLASSWARE. LAWL.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...hemoth/SSOS.jpg
Ok, Premier Wines supposedly carries more Unibroue. Their site is saying they have Eau Benite and Raftman in 6 packs...and 750ml of La Frigante.
I think I've seen all of those there before..including the Maudite, which isn't on their site. lol.
But yeah, still $18 for the 6 packs, and $10 for the 750ml bottle.
Ok, I'm going to start writing this email. haha.

LOL. I'm just kidding.
My New Year's probably would of been a lot better if you did come up here. All I did was take my shirt off and have a few beers with my friends.

Hey, you watch that age thing, buddy. Asses come in any age. You'd have fun with the almost 50's here. Heck, my mom's over 80 and she got a bit tipsy over the summer. It was hilarious!

There are a few but not many that are about or almost 50 that are part of the regular crew.
I figure there's drama at any age. It gets fucking old though for sure with these people. Oh well. They just get drunk too quick sometimes.

I don't care if this is a girls drink, because this shit is the awesomist shit ever. I could drink it all day long. That and some white russians (when they're made right, of course).

Yes, they have Unibroue 16(last year was 15..lol) out now...a beer they just put out once a year. I probably won't be able to find it...I'm sure you have a better chance of getting it than i do.
I sent the store that sells them an email, pleading that they will lower their prices.
Hell, like I've said..they don't even sell Blanche du Chambly. GODAMN EXPENSIVE, NO BEER SELECTION PROVINCE.
White/Black Russian's are really good. I used to order a double white russian a lot at bars, especially at stripclubs. It seems like the perfect drink while sniffing a hooker's asshole. They're usually like $9-10 though.

i haven't seen any other unibroue that i know of..then again i had looked right over them for some time before realizing who made them after you told me about them. haha hell yea..lower prices would rule. i paid 8.99 or 9.99 for a 4pack.
i've never had a white russian..but i've bought one for this girl i know..and it was fucking expensive. i told her it better be a damn good one! hah. as for that tequila rose shit...pass me the high life!

haha, what a load of shit on the price. You're getting a better deal than me. lol.
I was reading on BA about trading beer...not really over the boarder though. All of them use Fed Ex/UPS because it's a helleva lot more reliable. And alcohol sending isn't allowed with the companies, but apparently it's not "as illegal" than shipping it through the government. lol.

damn that really is messed up. theres no reason in hell as to why i should pay less for canadian beer than a canadian.
i have no experience shipping internationally really..so i'm not to sure on all the ins and outs. i just figure pack it as best you can, and as low key as possible and it shouldn't be an issue. unless they open random packages and choose it. i know they used to search random cars when entering military bases after 911. for mail, i am pretty sure they just rely on dogs. if theres a suspicious package i guess they could easily x ray it.
the guy at the beer store didn't seem to think putting a fake return address was necessary as one wouldn't get in any serious trouble for sending it. pretty much just a letter and confiscated beer. which would suck..but could be worse.
edit..what kind of beer is your avatar badger? drinking?

My old favorite..Alexander Keith's "IPA"..haha, at the start of this thread I rant and rave about this beer. It's actually quite pathetic that I did that. I loved this before I knew what good beer was..It's not too bad, but not an IPA at all, just an above average Macro Lager.

Yes, I'm sure the original Alexander Keith would be rolling in his grave...I'm pretty sure it's the oldest still running brewery in North America, from 1824 I believe.
But yeah, lager.

I ended up getting way too drunk last night. First, I enjoyed the Young's Oatmeal Stout and Fuller's ESB and then my amigo called to see if I wanted to go to a bar. We ended up splitting 3 pitchers of shiner bock. It was karaoke night and I was drunk enough to do a badass version of Bohemian Rhapsody, complete with interprative dance and fallceto vocals. I got a standing ovation and then drove my drunk ass home. I got work in a couple of hours and I hope my throbbing head stops by then.

ha thats a funny ass story about your karaoke. too bad you didn't get a video...maybe someone there made a video and you'll wind up being one of those famous..or infamous..people on you tube.

The ESB was fantastic. Highly recommended. I don't consider myself a big enough conisseur to describe the subtle differences between that taste and a pale ale....but I can so that i prefer the ESB.
Tonight, after work, I'm going to go get another couple of pitchers for relatively cheap....6 bucks for one of zeigen and 8 for shiner bock. What is the normal rate? I haven't been to too many bars.
Also, on tap, they have some nice microbrew, but that is 10 a pitcher.

$6 for a pitcher! Holy crap..that's a good deal. The CHEAPEST pitchers I could buy are $10, but usually they are $12-16 even for shitty beer.

honestly its been a while since i've bought a pitcher anywhere..and the last ones were yeungling. we would just get them when it was at a reduced rate and came with 10 wings. i don't remember how much it was though. i'd pay 10 bucks for a pitcher of some nice microbrew. ..i just don't know anywhere around here that has any except the one place here that brews their own beer. they mostly make lagers..i think they have one or two ales, and then a seasonal offering or two at any giving time of year.

BEER. LOL.
I drank some shit i haven't had before....Spitfire(which is mentioned a lot by BB) and Thurston Old Peculiar...The Spitfire came in a glass bottle, and tasted a little skunky, even though I picked a bottle three bottles in from those which are nearest to the light. I didn't like it...the Thurston was pretty good though.
Again...BEER> LOL.
I puked off of steve's balcony, while not wearing a shirt and got some on my chest. I saw my friend Adam's testicles, and then I showed him my left nut. WHAT A FAG.

Has anyone had Blue Moon? I drank a pitcher of that while eating at Applebees the other night and was really impressed. They made one helluva steak too.

Yeah man, it has one of the most unique fucking tastes ever. According to everyone around here you put slices of oranges in them to really let out the taste, and being how unique the taste is i believe it.

you can do that with any wheat beer really. personally i have done it..but don't normally. there are plenty that don't need any extra citrus..and then there are those that benefit from the added flavor. if you like blue moon, try hoegaarden.
well i went back to the beer store to stock up for tomorrow..and bought some stoudt's double ipa, a bottle of sam adams double bock, a bottle of flying dog imperial porter, a bottle of rogue amber ale, and last...and unfortunately least..a bottle of gulden draak a belgian dark triple. i say unfortunately because on my way home i took a corner a bit too hard and the 4 pack it was in hit my door (it was sitting on the passenger sit) and then a few minutes later..the bottle just popped! so now my car smells a lot like belgian ale! fuck i couldn't believe it...i was figuring i'd just have to wait for the beers in that box to settle down.. luckily nobody else was hurt...but that was a 4 dollar bottle of beer! i'll have to buy another one later...
stoudts double ipa
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8481s.jpg
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/394/20470
has a nice amber color to it..smells alcoholic..with a hint of hops. the taste is similar...a bit of hoppy bitterness like any ipa..but a strong taste of alcohol and maybe some malt flavor too. good..but not my favorite (of the few i've had) double ipa. not to mention it isn't cheap. it was 11 bucks for a 6 pack.
i'd much rather get this: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_8451.jpg http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/158/17060 though that shit isn't any cheaper.
gulden draak

edit...moe you lucky fucker! i asked the guys at the beer store what kind of kegs they had besides the usually crap..and they had sn pale ale too..$120!! even the guy working there said it was expensive as hell.
haven't tried these two yet.

so, i had my kegger last night. the guy who was gonna hook us up with a cheap keg of sierra nevada ended up getting arrested, so i had to buy zeigen bock. it is a relativley cheap beer but it's tastey as fuck. however, you can only get zeigen bock in texas.....booyah suckah. it has a price comparable to keystone a taste that rivals shiner (also a 'texan' beer.)
i had a dandy time.

Keystone definately doesn't taste bad. It may taste watered down as hell, because it is, but its definately not a horrible taste by any means. Bud light is a horrible taste.

What's wrong with a 5.9% abv? . Beer can taste great at higher alcohol content, and you can really enjoy the taste if you're sipping a 10-11% Belgium which can even take an hour or more to drink.
Godamn, I should maybe start buying other shit..I almost strictly buy Propeller..and I talk about it all the time and no one can relate. Since the government controls most of the liquor stores in Nova Scotia, I don't have much choice. All their other microbrews from all over the world are only sold in singles, which can be very expensive($2.50-$5). I can only get a handful of local micros that sell 4 or 6 packs.
I had a bomber of IPA(6.5%) and a 341ml Russian Stout(8%) at band practice. Caught a little buzz after I drank them quickly. I find playing bass with a slight buzz quite enjoyable, although completely smashed can get pretty godamn sloppy..pretty godamn fast.
We were playing some fast shit and I developed a blood blister on my middle finger of my right, plucking hand.

Man...you know what. FUCK YOU.
I've only twice tried Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout and Nut Brown Ale, and I can honestly they were both my favourites in those specific styling. The taddy porter is supposed to really fucking good, as is their Russian Imperial Stout..if you can get your hands on that DO IT. Try to get the brown bottles if you can though, because SS is known for being potentially skunky due to the less-newer clear bottles.
But seriously, go fuck yourself. haha.

yea the anchor porter was pretty good...never had the sam smiths taddy porter. just the old brewery pale ale, nut brown ale, and oatmeal stout. after having those, i would definitely try any other beers they have available. especially if you like porters already...i have had a few i didn't care for though.
i'm drinking this gulden draak belgian ale..its 10.5% alcohol, but you really can't tell its that alcoholic as far as the taste goes. can smell it a little..but the flavor is pretty strong so it does a good job of making the alcohol flavor less noticeable. it tastes sweet and bitter..the taste is strong and lingers a bit. pretty good stuff, that i will likely have again..but its not cheap, so i won't be having it too often either.

Yum, looks really good graf. Too bad I can't pick it up here. Next week I'm going to be picking up a lot of newer shit I haven't tried before, such as the Chimay blue and maybe some other Belgians. This weekend however I'll probably try to get over to the Propeller brewery and pick up more RIS as well as some IPA.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1878/34825
I reviewed it a few weeks ago, but I'm "canadametal" btw.
My ex is taking a tour with like 20 other people apparently. I'm kinda pissed off because she was like "we don't even have to take the tour, we can just drink for free". MORONS. I'd love to take this godamn tour, but I'm sure her current boyfriend will go...and I don't want my animalistic rage to seep through at my favorite brewery. lol.
Who wouldn't want to see a tour of a local microbrewery? Oh well, it's $12 or $15 a person so it's good business for Propeller at least.

hell yea...i'd get as much shit as you can if you don't get to whatever store your going to very often. i've only reviewed one or two things but my name is the same i'm pretty sure. hell yea i'd pay 15 bucks for a tour of a microbrewery. i'd hope to get at least one free beer..hopefully a pint. i'd still buy more ha
i also got this val-dieu triple http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/826/2576
it was expensive too..just bought one bottle. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_8507.jpg
its pretty good...i think i like it better than the gulden draak. this doesn't have as strong of a flavor. its a good taste. kinda sweet. not as heavy as the other one. just as strong i think..but you can't taste the alcohol as much with this one. very smooth abbey ale.
i bought a 6 of flying dog snake dog ipa hah http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/68/205 i was going to get their in heat wheat or something like that..but then i noticed they had an ipa which the store hasn't had. haven't tried one yet..but once this val-dieu is gone, its onto that. also bought a bottle of avery brewing co old jubilation ale. its their winter season beer. i guess the store just had some left over...i just figured avery has some good shit so i'd try it. almost half the price as those two belgians, and i think its a full 12 oz bottle as opposed to these 11.2 oz bottles. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30/3295

can I really make moonshine by digging a hole putting a plastic wrap bed in it and filling it with rotten fruit and let it ferment for a few weeks?
I imagine it would be a bit more complex than that.

haha, try it and find out.
Yeah, I'm REALLY starting to think I should get a p/t job.
I forgot to tell you graf, I emailed Premier Wines the other day and they told me they would re-adjust their Unibroue prices if this tax cut comes into play.(Which I thought it already had..anyways, I'm hoping for the best.)
There is one Chimay gift set at my local beer hole..shit. Hopefully it won't be sold anytime soon. The delisted xmas Duvel packs are down to $10.50! WOO.
I'm also going to be picking up some Orval Trappist as well as Affigem..haven't tried either, but I'm really looking forward to the Orval.

vodka - finlandia
rum - captain morgans original spiced and tattoo, bacardi 151 dark
whiskey - crown royal
gin, if i drink it at all - bombay sapphire
beer - none, as i dont like beer, although i am a fan of pale ales, which arent beer, but arent far off
also, have a question of mead, what does mead taste like, i want to try it, but i dont want to waste money if i dont have to.

since when is pale ale not beer?
if you don't like beer..i'd probably pass on the mead. i've only tried it once..but i'm sure there are all kinds of different tasting varieties. as a regular beer drinker..i thought the mead i had was good..but not something i'd drink like beer. i'd try some again for sure..but wouldn't buy any on my own unless someone told me i "have to try it!" even then..i haven't seen much (if any) on sale around here.

i've got work all tonight, so that will keep me busy and give my liver a rest.

Yeah, ale is definitely beer.

i don't know much about mead honestly..i've only had it once, and it was homemade by this girl i met.
i think you are thinking of lager being different than ale..but both of them are beer.

I've bought mead once before. I heated it up in a pan, added spices(cinnamon, nutmeg, etc) it came with and drank it. It wasn't too bad, tastes more like wine than anything else...hence it's other common name, "honey wine", which fits the bill fairly well.

picked up some beers today in honor of that lady who was saved by beer...and because i wanted to drink beers.
i got a bottle of st. bernardus prior 8 dubbel. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/259/1855
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8514s.jpg
i guess it tastes maltier than other belgians i've had so far. smells it too.. it has a sweetness to it..but not as sweet as others. all in all, its pretty damn good. unfortunately...like most of the belgian ales, its not cheap so i won't be drinking this every night.
also bought a bottle of kasteel bier gouden triple from br. van honsebrouck. 11% abv..
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8531s.jpg
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/212/1712
much less malty than the st bernardus..noticeably sweeter as well. can smell the sweetness..and something else that i can't quite place..it might be alcohol..seems similar to smelling champagne (only doesn't smell quite as fragrant) i guess its sweet meets alcohol. a good beer..does an amazing job hiding all that alcohol in the taste. tastes pretty balanced out..nothing really overwhelming. good stuff. expensive too.
bought a 6 pack of flying dog in heat wheat ale too. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/68/2249 haven't had any yet..but i'm looking forward to trying it. so far everything from flying dog that i've had is delicious. the imperial porter was a bit off for me as far as porters go if i remember correctly..but it wasn't bad.
lastly..i got a bottle of this grimbergen double ale http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...er/IMG_8532.jpg http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/436/1496 haven't had it yet..but am looking forward to giving it a go.

haha, hey..I wouldn't drink those terrible beers! Corona..Moosehead....
Godamnit it graf, you buy a lot of variety of beer. I'm thinking about picking up some Flying Dog Barelywine pretty soon, it's the only barelywine as of yet you can buy in the province. Premier Wines has a HUGE selection of Flying Dog, even in 6 and 12 packs and it isn't that expensive..my silly white ass hasn't even tried a beer from them.
I wish I could get that St. Bernardus here, looks like good shit. I gave my friend a Rochefort 10 last night, he didn't like it...even though I told him to sip it...rather than chug it. lol.

hah i like moosehead more than corona. ha yea try their barleywine, or jsut any of their beers. i haven't even seen the barleywine on sale here. their snake dog ipa is probably my favorite from them. their beers aren't too expensive here either really. try them all hah.
i love trying new beers..but that shit does add up. i pay more for beer than i do for internet and water..maybe even power too per month (i mean my third of the bill, not the full bill) i wish they'd lower the prices on this stuff. that would be cool as hell if they'd lower those prices on unibroue if you guys get whatever tax thing you were talking about. maybe we'll see a price reduction here too..doubt it though.
i'm having one of those in heat wheats right now...i like it and would buy it again. reasonable price too. kinda hazy orange/gold color..slightly fruity smell and taste. kinda sweet.... not as sweet as blue moon or leinenkugel sunset wheat though. it smells similar to many wheat ales..but theres something a little different than at least most of the ones i've had..i guess its a stronger wheat smell ? heh thats probably it...its the typical wheat beer smell but less citrus to it. ha i still haven't really wrote many reviews on ba just one or two...usually just read the ratings then a few of the reviews.

Yeah, I don't think I'll write too many reviews on BA, probably mainly just local beers from now on. You guys won't have the Unibroue tax cut because it was just NS/Quebec relations only. The provincial tax laws on products are all fucked up..we have archaic booze laws...because it's under government control in Nova Scotia...everyday they are recording "record number profits" and then just increased the prices on over 1100 liquor brands they sell.
Thank god the local microbrews weren't affected..haha, only the mainstream, macro beer brands prices increased.
Yeah, I'm praying Unibroue goes down in price..as well as some more selection of beer in the next coming years.

ahh i just meant i haven't submitted many reviews cause my reviewing skills are pretty weak. i usually start off by saying "its pretty good" ha then guess at the subtleties of the flavors and smells. i'm getting better..i just take a stab at it then see what a handful of other reviews say and kind of average them out and compare.
ahh well that sucks it won't be cheaper here..but i hope your provinces get it all sorted out.

Thanks about the provinces comment. lol.
Canada can get pretty divided at times..hell, especially on how all of our products the damn French language is all over it!
But yeah, it's good to rip off other reviewers. haha, well...take what they have found, recognize it, and then add your own opinions. Over time though you'll be able to pick up many tastes/looks/feels/smells identical to what has already been said. The first time I had a Propeller IPA, and noticed it had a strawberry taste to it..and GODAMN..someone else had the same notation in their review! Maybe you are just drinking too many varieties of beer to notice it all? lol.

well i didn't mean just copy them..i mean i take a stab at it on my own..then read a few to see if others tasted what i tasted. usually i hit one a couple of the big things..malty, hoppy, sweet, bitter, etc. then for the details..i usually am not good at. that or some of these people just make shit up. i've read several reviews of beers i was drinking while reading them..and i can't figure out where the hell they are getting some of the flavors they taste. between beers i usually have something to eat or drink to nuetralize any previous flavors that might change the way a different beer might taste.
