Nonetheless, that cheap(made with corn as well) lager is easy to godamn drink. Although, I definitely wouldn't trade it for my usual session drinks.

I was so pissed I didn't get the Duvel giftset because I missed out on the glass. I usually use my Leffe snifter or wider wine glasses.
This isn't very wide...so it's not even really a good example.

I'll have to take a pic of a La Fin Du Monde sometime soon. You can see about a billion bubbles in the head. It's pretty amazing.

well know you know what to buy me for my bday! i'm working with a fairly limited collection of glasses. i have a set of 4 guinness pint glases, a wychwoond pint glass, and that weihenstephan (spelling?) glass which is 1 pint and 6 fl oz. so basically its the only beer glass i have that could fit that whole bottle in there. i've looked at some of the beligan gift sets that come with glasses, but its not really my favorite style..and most of the ones i know of could be aged. so i usually don't buy the stuff very often. those propeller beers look pretty good, i wish they sold more canadian beer here besides labatt, molson, and moosehead. i guess thats the way she goes though. can't even get many of the microbrewed beers from within the states..why should i be able to find ones from other countries? damnit!

Yeah, my pic's never seem to show the true colours of the beers very well. The bitter definitely isn't that dark in real time. The heads are slightly over exaggerated do to an "improper" pour..I did it to make the Brits drool! Mwuahaha. Both beers usually have a 2 finger length head.
Yeah..labatt, molson and moosehead are all complete shit. Blah. It's a shame at the lack of GOOD commercial beers out there...like probably Guinness being the "best" which is widely available worldwide.

Oh man, Propeller FINALLY released "Propeller Revolution Russian Imperial Stout" yesterday. I picked up a growler($10) and two 341ml bottles, along with another growler of IPA and I had more beers in my bookbag.
This beer is going to make Propeller beer...I hope anyways...it is fucking DELICIOUS. I may open one tonight to take some pictures of it. Now I'll be dying for any RIS I can get my hands on...they're like what a stout should taste like.
Huge unsweetened chocolate presence, creamy coffee finish. This beer is frothy and hides the alcohol very well for being 8%abv. It's only available at the brewery right now..but by the demand of it..it will probably be at local NSLC's and throughout Canada eventually.

I've been to this topic before but next to my beer fetish I have a single malt fetish and I have a new favorite single malt:
Glenfiddich 21 yrs 'Gran Reserva'
Costs the same as a small guitar amp but it was worth it, best single malt I have right now. It's amazing and I highly recommend it to single malt drinkers!

haha, I could write much better things than I afore mentioned..but some wine cunt writes the beer reviews everyone once and awhile.
It just sucks praising beer than maybe one other person(stevefrost) could try.
Same goes for when you Yanks talk about good beer that have a slim chance of trying in the next 5-10 years.

Here's a pretty blurry picture of the Propeller Revolution Russian Imperial Stout.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...pellerris-1.jpg
They definitely seemed to scrap the idea of having a local political cartoonist do the artwork, which makes sense of the "label delay" they had...either that or he was slacking with the design of the label. lol.
It also has gold foil around the neck which you can't see in the picture.

HEY! You two cut it out! Looks can be very deceiving!\
From BeerAdvocate.com
"Description:
First only brewed in Köln, Germany, now many American brewpubs and a hand full of breweries have created their own version of this obscure style. Light to medium in body with a very pale color, hop bitterness is medium to slightly assertive. A somewhat vinous (grape-y from malts) and dry flavor make up the rest."
I don't think I've ever tried this style of beer. Again, I've tried at least 10 german micros and I still haven't one that I really enjoyed..then again, there are like a billion german-styled beers out there. WHY ME JUDGE? LOL.
Oh yeah, last night a bunch of people were trying some of my beers. This one girl compared my Propeller RIS to a Guiness, but I explained to her, "perhaps a Guiness on crystal meth". My bassist friend picked up a few beer at a specialty store. He bought the Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar to which I suggested some time ago. I told him about the flavour(it got him really excited lol) and he almost shat himself when he took the initial sip.
I tried a "Kingfisher" lager...haha, "From India" which is brewed in America..haha. Fucking terrible shit! It was from a green bottle so I didn't notice the appearance, but that shit was rank. It almost tastes like eating wild plants from the side of the road. Heineken but even worse. My friend seemed to like it though, I'm sure all the weed he was smoking perhaps masked the actual taste? Or perhaps he liked it because he bought it. lol.

hmmm remind me not to drink out of tulip glasses with you.
tonight i bought some sierra nevada unfiltered wheat beer.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8179s.jpg
wheat beers have been growing on me a bit. this one has a fairly unique flavor compared to most of the others i've had. its good, but i'll probably try some other wheat beer next time.
drank some great divide titan ipa over the weekend, and brought one home with me. 6.8% abv
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8180s.jpg
pretty good..but something about the aftertaste bothers me a little. i'd stick with other ipas myself..
this stuff is from the same brewing company. doesn't say ipa, but its a pretty hoppy pale ale, which is basically what ipas are as far as i know. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7530s.jpg this stuff i had a month or two ago, and i'm not sure how often i can get it anymore...but it was better than this titan ipa.

Godamn Dogfish-head ipa's and dipa's are sure talked about on BeerAdvocate. Hopefully some day I'll taste what all the hype is about. HUGE hype, just as much as most of the Stone beers.
My brother is moving to Ottawa, Ontario with his wife next week..and my mom is talking about going to visit in the next coming months. The first thing I thought about its loading up on beer and bringing it back here. lol. She's thinking about flying, maybe I can convince her that we should drive down...to save on money of course.
Polar Ice is from Canada! fuck...I hate it. haha. There is a vodka company called "Iceberg" made with real glacier water out of Newfoundland. I'm not much of a vodka fan, but I've been wanting to try Grey Goose, but it's really damn expensive.

i've tried their 120 and 90 min ipas..but it was when i was first getting into trying beer outside of the huge companies. i hadn't really established what i liked and didn't like. i thought they had a very strong flavor..a bit much more me, but i'd like to try them again having tried a number of other ipas. its not very cheap either.

You're so lucky! lol, fuck. I'd just like to try some of these beers on to how they compare to some canadian brews I've tried. Godamn laws and taxes and small distribution. MERICANZZ.
Well, craft brew is definitely on the uprise...hell, even here locally we are constantly getting new beer every month. I'm trying my best to let people I meet try my beer, hell..I may end up with the herpz, but at least they will have the knowledge that there is better beer out there.
Beer is terribly labeled as a "poor man's drink" or what have you. It's quite amazing the aromas/colours/tastes you can achieve with beer.
OK, here's a question...
What got you into "good" or "exotic" beer?
For me it was Hoegaarden a few months after I turned 19. I was amazed a beer could have such a bite of citrus, do to the addition of coriander and orange zest. Not to mention how cloudy it was...you could actually SEE YEAST rather than the beer being pasteurized and filtered several times. A big thing on Hoegaarden too is that it's not too carbonated compared to most lagers. I was in love. The company is owned by InBev now, I forget when that happened but hopefully it hasn't or will not compromise taste.

dutch dog beer! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6288107.stm
i'm trying to think back to my first micro brews. i'd say my dad or his friend got me into them..my dads friend has a huge beer collection and at one point gave my dad a mail subscription to micro breweries as a gift. the first one i had was leinenkugel something or other a while back. i didn't really get as into them as i have over the last year or two though. i drink a lot..and used to drink more, so after a while i just wanted to try something else.
what triggered my craft beer consumption was probably getting that homemade beer kit. once i started learning about making it, i appreciated it much more and wanted to try other good beer. i drove up to the beer store and told the guy i wanted to try something new and gave him some names of brands i liked, then he pointed out some beers and i tried those..then went from there.

The beer is rather pricey, but I get a hook up through my sis's friend....5 dollars a 6 pack on any beer, including pints.
Dogfishhead is a great IPA. Like xgrafcorex said, the flavor is fucking intense. SOOO much hops. I take small little sips and the beer lasts me quite a while. Plus, since it is 9% abv, just a few will do the trick.
I've been belligerently drunk off the dogfishhead. I drank 10 of them in a short amount of time.......good times.

yea, ipas do kick ass!
speak of the devil...i just mentioned leinenkugel, and the other day how i was getting more into wheat beers. they had this shit at the grocery store when i went to get something for dinner. their "sunset wheat" its pretty good. a definite citrus flavor to it. almost like i have an orange slice in it or something. it had a big head but went away fast and is a hazy orangish color. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/710/29015 its made in wisconsin so maybe you cannucks can get it hah.

Come on dude! You are embarrassing your nation! America is better than that! Err, well...can be!
It's 5%abv here..I'm assuming it's the same there.
I drank a few(err, maybe more than that..) Propeller ESB's, my last until tomorrow Propeller Russian Imperial Stout, Unibroue La Fin Du Monde, Delirium Tremans and a Rochefort 10.
The "La fin Du Monde" completely destroys the actual Belgium Delirium Tremans..both are a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, which is very similar to a Tripel. The first is just balanced so well. The Rochefort 10 is very good..and at 11.3%abv, it can take some time to get down.
Anyways, decent buzz, fantastic beer...don't settle for less hombres! And MTM, look into some better shit than the widely distributed Canadian piss!

hey bassb, you mentioned having fullers london porter right? i recognized the name when i was in the store the other day, thought i'd give it a try..then i looked it up on ba and it has a really good rating so i'm gonna pick some up later. they have another beer from fullers but i forget what it was..probably try that too.
not sure if you ever saw it (i know i didn't) but ba top 100 http://beeradvocate.com/top_beers.php i've had a few of them on there..but less than 10 i'm pretty sure. looks like i've got a list to work off of now.
honestly, with all the true hardcore beer snobs out there...i'm sure a lot of these beers will be quite unappealing to me, but i'm sure there will be plenty of amazing beers as well.
edit...too bad there isn't a list of the 100 worst beers hah

Yes, I really enjoyed Fuller's London Porter. It has a smooth, subtle creaminess to it. Is the other beer Fuller's London Pride? Those are the only two sold here...the London Pride is a fairly solid Pale Ale. Your tastes are probably a little more advanced for it..but it's worth a try from what I remember.(Which isn't much lol)
I've had 6 off of their BA top 100. Kinda hard to devise such a list due to availability of most of those products and the many more great beers of the world. I actually think they did have a 100 worst beers list, or at least I saw a thread talking about how they should have one.
I'm pretty sure this is ranked the lowest though:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/677/2213
Crazy Ed's Cave Creek Chili beer, I'm pretty sure you said you've tried it? I'm glad they don't sell it here..but this is brewed in the city but I have not tried it, nor really want too. lol.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1879/18663
The Rochefort 10 is definitely worth trying though man, it almost tastes like a grape sucker. I can't believe the NSLC de-listed it..there are only like 120 in the province. I can get them for $2.53cdn a pop though since they are de-listed and the price was cut in half!

cool, i'll pick some up when i leave the office. i can't remember what the other one was..but i was thinking it was the ESB. whatever it is, i'll give it a try also. haha i doubt i'm too "advanced" for the pale ale though..i still drink some crappy cheap beers..don't like them much, but have no problem drinking them. should be alright. they only have two offerings at the store here also, so maybe you are right and thats what it is.
haha no i haven't tried that chili beer, but i did ask about it here. i heard about it on some travelling food show or something like that. since i love spicy food, i wanted to try it..but the more i think about it, the more i think it sounds like two things that just weren't meant to be.

haha..yeah, I love spicy food too...but the combination doesn't seem appropriate.
Do you drink a lot of beer with your meals? That is something I want to try more of, but usually I eat all my meals on my bed and I strictly drink milk with every meal.
A terrible food pairing I've had a pub was extremely hot wings with a Hoegaarden on tap. haha, godamn...TERRIBLE combination. I think the place had dirty tap lines as well though because the Hoegaarden didn't seem up to par with the usual bottled version.

ehh sometimes and sometimes i just forget about eating and wind up drinking on an empty stomach ahha. pretty much everytime i cook on the grill i get some kind of beer.
i really don't know a hell of a lot about food pairing either. i've looked at some of the suggestions on ba, but never while about to make food and buy beer..just while checking out the review.

well i got a 6 of the fullers london porter. they also had the ESB, but at 10.75 a 6 pack, i decided to wait on that one. i did pick up a bottle of sinebrychoff porter from finland and a big bottle of that delirium tremens you mentioned. i had seen it but the label always kept me from trying it..with those damn pink elephants and strange name. good stuff though...first beer i've had with a cork in it if memory serves me correctly. ba says it can be aged for a quite some time (i wish they would say how long that is, i've noticed "quite some time" for a few beers)
the finnish porter was alright...a little darker than the fullers..darker head too. roasty kinda flavor..a bit sweet as well.
the london porter was pretty damn good though. smells like roasted malt, tastes roasty/creamy. delicious! i'll try their esb for sure sometime soon. i'll post pics of these three later..right now i feel like shit. i either have a swollen tonsil (which it says not to drink alcohol with.. ) or cancer or a goiter or something...gonna finish this beer and go to bed.

That sucks about your throat man...hopefully the beer will kill off the infection...or maybe vodka will burn it out?
You're lucky you can buy sixers of Fuller's..they are only in single 500ml bottles here are are $3.50-$4 each.
I did like the Delirium Tremans, but man...it's a damn shame you haven't found any Unibroue yet though.
It depends on the aging process, some beers are best 1-3 years aged..others 5plus.

I've watched alot of mythbusters to know that that is a good idea haha. Vodka theories almost always were CONFIRMED.
We should mail them about it, haha. See if vodka is a good bacteria and infection killer.

yea, not sure if they have any of the unibroue. i'll try and keep an eye out for it. last night this girl was telling me to try corsendonk abbey brown ale. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/41/138
i don't know if they carry that one either..but i'll be sure to give it a shot.
haha i don't know about the vodka..first of all i don't like the stuff..second, everything i read says to avoid alcoholic beverages. i took a healthy dose of ibuprofen..and if its not cleared up by this weekend..i'm gonna go in to a clinic or something and get it checked out. just sucks since i have no health insurance.

They say don't take alcohol cause it basically doubles the effects and further prevents you from making correct and sensible choices. If it says then i say.....
just do it. hahah
Stop being a wuss and tell us if Vodka is a throat lozenge! (i had to look up how to spell that word haha)

Pfft, maybe next time I'm in Belgium. lol.
This stuff is supposedly VERY difficult to find, as when it is brewed..it is brewed in very limited quantities.

heres some beers i've had lately. got lazy about resizing and loading pictures.
sierra nevada stout
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8095s.jpg
had it before, but hadn't had it in a while so i figured what the hell. a decent stout. i'd take it over a guinness for sure..but not some of the other stouts i've had. not too heavy, but its dark and i guess a kind of malty flavor. kinda doing this by memory so combine that with my lack of ability to break down all these flavors and write a good beer review..i might as well just say it was good and i'd buy it again.
leinenkugel's sunset wheat
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8181s.jpg
very tasty stuff (in a good way). has a distinct citrus flavor..i guess i just wrote this the other day without the picture. i'll be picking up more at my local publix for sure now that they just started carrying it. hopefully they'll expand and bring in some more offerings from leinenkugel.
fuller's london porter
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8182s.jpg
very good also! quite roasty smelling..almost makes me think of coffee, but doesn't taste like coffee. the roastyness isn't as apparent in the taste, but its somewhat creamy and delicious. if it weren't expensive, i'd buy it much more often. i plan on picking up their esb this weekend.
sinebrychoff porter (had to look at the bottle to spell that one!) its from finland.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8183s.jpg
smelled roasty too...but doesn't taste it as much either. much sweeter than the fullers. makes me think its more of a dessert beer for after dinner.
delirium tremens belgian ale
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8185s.jpg
good stuff. the taste was strong which made me think it would be smoother after aging..but unlike many other beers of this style, the flavor isn't so overpowering that i wouldn't want to drink much of it unless it was aged (though i've yet to really try an aged beer.) i'll probably buy another bottle and let it age for a while with my other beers. gotta be careful though, or i'll wind up with two bottle collections... the bottle completely blocks out light, so keeping it in a dark place doesn't really matter.
tonight i'm having some avery brewing co ipa. its very good..not the cheapest..but i only get it every now and then. nice and hoppy, just how i like ipas. i already posted a pic and a short blurb about it before though.

Awesome pics graf! A Finnish porter? Crazy! And godamn, GET NEW GLASSWARE FOR THE BELGIUM'S.
In other news...I hate America.
http://www.oaktreebuyrite.com/tourofthestore
Seriously...wow. I clicked on to every picture. It's in NJ..if I lived anywhere within 3 hours of that place I would get a job.
And that's what privatization of liquor gives you! FUCK THE GOVERNMENT! 666 ANARCHIST!!
Seriously...wow. Even though I know you can get hundreds of more different beer than I could I bet graf. I had a Broughton Scottish Oatmeal Stout the other day...bah, I thought it was terrible. It had a sour, thin, flat cola taste to it. I felt a little bad dissing his beer(he likes all the beer he buys lol), but man..ya gotta speak yo mind! He also bought some others, including a Rogue Brutal Bitter(which I still haven't tried)..but I left before he cracked them open.

wow! that store is like the toys r us of beer stores! if i'm ever in nj again..i'm finding that place for sure..that state isn't too big. i started looking at each picture, but then i scrolled down and saw how many there were..so i figured i'd check the rest out today once its slow.
i wonder if the local beer store here would care if i took pictures of their store. edit..i am still half asleep and was googling case and keg as kase and keg. heres a link to their site. http://www.caseandkeg.com/ and its friday, so the beer babes will be there..hopefully they'll have some good shit to sample..most of the time its not great. no pics of the store though..just of the beer babes.
they have a lot of the things in those pics..but there were a lot of brands they don't have..and also the store here doesn't have as many offerings from some of the brands. some of those rogue bottles i've never seen before. can't wait to go to the store though..i can taste the beer already.

Go to this site:
http://www.trymywines.com/index.html
You can order beers, wines, & spirits for all over the world. I've order from them before. I got this incredibly chemical tasting Polish Vodka that was like 190 proof. It made for some strong ass screwdrivers.
And you don't even need to be 21 to order the shit!!

i wonder if the local beer store here would care if i took pictures of their store. edit..i am still half asleep and was googling case and keg as kase and keg. heres a link to their site. http://www.caseandkeg.com/ and its friday, so the beer babes will be there..hopefully they'll have some good shit to sample..most of the time its not great. no pics of the store though..just of the beer babes.
they have a lot of the things in those pics..but there were a lot of brands they don't have..and also the store here doesn't have as many offerings from some of the brands. some of those rogue bottles i've never seen before. can't wait to go to the store though..i can taste the beer already.

LOL @ BEER BABES.
I think I'm going to pick up 6 Rochefort 10's to keep in the fridge, gotta buy them up before they are gone for good. Since my apparent food poisoning, I'm definitely not up for drinking.

haha just what the doctor ordered. i didn't stop smoking or drinking (though i drank and smoked less(didn't have anything left to smoke)) and that knot or whatever swollen lymph node i guess is apparently going away. didn't have to take any pain medicine today and the lump feels smaller.
its like those old guinness posters saying "guinness makes me strong!" or however it goes.

You can order beers, wines, & spirits for all over the world. I've order from them before. I got this incredibly chemical tasting Polish Vodka that was like 190 proof. It made for some strong ass screwdrivers.
And you don't even need to be 21 to order the shit!!
|
thanks..i might check them out some time. some good beers and some i want to try there..but it does look like they are missing a lot of beers.
ha bassb they don't have canada which sucks..i was gonna order some st ambroise and some of the propeller beers. pretty shitty that i can get beer from kenya, but not my neighbor canada.

god damnit! i'm not used to the buttons on this new keyboard and i closed the tab after having written a decent chunk. FUCK.
anyway.. i bigged it up at the beer store today.
bought a 6 of dogfish head indian brown ale. which says on the bottle " a clean well-hopped brown ale with aromatic barley, caramelized brown sugar and whole leave liberty and goldings hops." it poured with a fairly small head that didn't last long at all. smells kinda like roasted malt..but very its very subtle. tastes somewhat bitter..not as hoppy as i had hoped thinking an iba would be very similar to an ipa. good..but i would say i'd take the rogue brown ale over this.
i found out i'm a moron and they do carry unibroue. in my defense..it only says unibroue in small letters on the handle of the 4 packs. they didn't have the trois pistoles though. i bought the blanche de chambly. unfortunately the one i just cracked open had its label ripped and i didn't notice it says not to pour the last little bit because of all the yeast..yay! i guess i'll give this a short review after i pour it right. ha i also don't have the correct glass according to the bottle. they had two other kinds..one of which i didn't recognize when going through the list on ba. the other was la fin du monde.
got some random bottles just to try a few things. haven't had any yet though. a bottle of white hawk original ipa, a bottle of belzebuth blond ale (french 13% abv), and a bottle of nostradamus belgian brown ale 9.5%
much to bassb's delight, i bought a box of duvel belgian golden ale that came with a nice duvel glass that i'll be drinking all of my belgians from at least. what else is supposed to be poured into these glasses?
last but certainly least, i bought a 12 of "bavaria" from holland. it was cheap and is ok stuff..had it once. i basically got it as a filler beer so i'm not drinking all this expensive shit at once..especially while drunk. no need to waste good beer when i would likely be pounding it and not giving a shit if it tasted good or not.
now i just need to eat some dinner before i drink too much without eating.

haha, you don't understand how happy I am to check this thread. This thread alone is such a cheerful phenomenon to my beer hobby, as I'm sure it is to graf, tm and sometimes moe_blunts. lol.
Oh man, seriously...fuck you guys. haha, you and your "PRO CHOICE" when it comes to beer. haha, I went to that site the guy mentioned earlier and I couldn't believe there were no beers from Canada, haha...you can order a fucking Pilsner from Norway but not one Canadian beer. lol.
Oh man, the non-government store near me doesn't carry Blangez du Chambly or whatever the fuck the french are calling it. It's a shame you can only get 4 packs..but I STRONGLY advise you to pick up La Fin Du Monde..seriously, one of the only good things the French has done to Canada.
Good job on the Duvel, I am proud. They still have some xmas gift packs lying around at a few NSLC's I still have to get. With that glass you can fully enjoy the aromas and immense taste of mainly Belgian beers. Do you smoke cigarettes graf/tm? I'm honestly thinking of quitting simply to fully get the taste/smell of beer, it takes away so much.
I tried a Crystal from Cuba tonight. My friend's parents brought some back on a recent trip. It's not even in BA...figures, ya godamn capitalist swine! lol. Not very great..Macro lager with a "white wine" finish. 4.9%abv, you could drink a shitload of of them, but probably would be pissing after every beer. Anyways, why should I even bother talking about it because YOU WILL NEVER TRY IT IN YOUR LIFE...but hey, maybe things will change after Castro dies?
Graf, you should pick up some La Fin Du Monde and some Rochefort 10. I bought 7 bottles of Rochefort 10's tonight. I've said in many posts that they have been delisted, but they are over half the old price..I'm getting them for $2.98cdn per 330ml! It's like the third cheapest buzz in the city..beer wise. lol. It's one of BA's top 100..a fucking stellar beer.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/207/645
You might be able to stumble upon the Rochefort 6 and Rochefort 8. They are apparently very good as well(I can't get them), but apparently not as good as the 10.
I drank a growler of Propeller Russian Imperial Stout(8%abv) tonight. Awesome brew. Again, they are getting known throughout Canada as a heavy hitter in out micro brew world. They have been around for 10 years this year, and I'm hoping someday they will start shipping to America. They have some really solid beers. Stevefrost bought a couple of Rogue bombers, the Smoke ale and St. Rogue Red Ale. I enjoyed both..although somewhat forget what they tasted like, well to describe them anyways. I believe all Rogue beers use the same yeast(Pac Man), giving it that distinct "Rogue" taste.
Anyways, cheers motherfuckers! Keep drinking the good shit!

haha yea this is quite possibly my favorite thread. though i do like the invert/reptile thread.
yea i can't believe i can order beer from kenya but not canada..thats some shit if i've ever seen shit... ill try that la fin du monde next. the chamble or whatever was alright..but i have only had the one that i poured the whole bottle into the glass..yeast and all. i don't know how much it would effect the flavor..but ill find out on the next one.
yea, that duvel is pretty damn good. it was 16.99 for 4 bottles and the glass. its much better than the nostradamus i'd say. the owner of the store i buy beer at actually pointed out the nostradamus. it was good..but kind of bitter i guess compared to the duvel. though the duvel has a very sweet..almost wine/champagne tasted to it..at least in the after taste. good stuff though. it says serve at 55 C so i tossed it in the fridge for a little..but not too long.
i noticed on the case and keg website rochefort was one of the new beers they got in..but i don't remember which number was after the name. i gotta sign up at the store and they'll email me i guess when they get new beers. they were out of sign up sheets or something. fuckers!
haha yea..not sure that cuba is known for their beer. for that matter..i'm not a big fan of most of the beer i've tried from the southern new world. negra modelo is probably my favorite that i can think of right now.
hmm i've never even seen those rogue bombers. i hope my store bulks up their rogue bomber stock. seems to have diminished and the slots where they were have been slowly filled with other beers. maybe i can send an email to that world beer website and tell them to get their shit together and get some canadian beer. it still baffles me as to how they don't already have it. hell theres at least one country on that list i wasn't familiar with. i knew it was in africa..but its been a while since i've taken geography.
edit..nope, i've smoked cigarettes..but i've never been a smoker. and its been a while since i've even had one. sometimes i used to have one while drunk..but its been well over a year since i've done that. just the green and the ales...and occasional lager.

haha, enjoy your internet-ordered Kenyan beer you cunt!
You're lucky on not smoking cigarettes. Most people quit due to the obvious health risks, I want to quit so I can enjoy beer to the greatest extent.
And wow, after drinking last night my stomach actually does feel a whole lot better. lol. I thought maybe even I was getting this bad 2week long flu that's going around. THE BEER CLEARED IT RIGHT UP.
I'm glad you enjoyed the Duvel, it's quite amazing how good a "higher alcohol" beer can taste eh? Have you tried any Chimay? I've only had the one in the red bottle, I was hammered when I drank it..but I do remember it was quite delicious. You should definitely be able to find either the blue, red or white, they seem fairly accessible.

Expand your boundaries mann.
And for fuck sakes..you live in England! The Grail amongst Ale! So many good beers there that will never reach these shores! Maybe you should look for Fuller's, Young's and Samuel Smith. Fuller's has a London Style porter that can blow Guiness out of the water. Seriously, utilize your holy selection!

not to mention you can probably get all kind of imported beers from other countries in europe that we can't get on this side of the pond. guinness is good and i'd never turn it down, but there are much better beers out there.

haha, probably a pretty good idea. Although I can't really judge after only having Corona..through BA I haven't heard much praise about most mexican beers.
The only beer I could order online is that which is locally, from the few non-government stores around. I don't think they ship, rather just drop it off. Although there is not much point paying $5-10 for someone to drop off booze when a friend can drive you.
I live about a 10 minute walk from a NSLC so it's pretty convenient.
I'm going to enjoy just a couple of Rochefort 10's tonight and have a jam with the niggers. If I could afford it..I'd probably be drinking a lot more.

I'm making a beer butt chicken for supper tonight for the first time. Bud Select is the flavor since that's what we have. I got the recipe from admin at tc's cohort.

You are taking about cooking the chicken with a can in it's arse to make it more tender? The beer doesn't add much flavour as all, just creates steam. However, marinating meat with beer can add great flavour to it, especially using a "heavier" beer such as a porter or stout.
I took a better pic of the Propeller Revolution Russian Imperial Stout last night, straight from the growler. YUMZ.

Thanks for the tip. I wondered if it would flavor it much. I'm not a big fan of beer, but I'll try it in cooking. I bet a stout would be better. The yeasty flavor would probably be good.

Yeah, well with a good stout/porter you can get those creamy or bitter chocolate/coffee flavours to come out. Add some chopped garlic and spices to the mix and you have a hellava good piece of steak.

Steak! We changed animals? lol I've got a massive chunk of sirloin in the fridge, too, but I don't think I'll marinate that.
I had to put off making the chicken because I had to make some cookies to take to church for them to send to the college kids and soldiers in Iraq. (Wally and his bro, too.) So the bird is on hold for right now.

Ah, I think when the last 4 come out I'm gonna have a cooler and chill.

The only good beer we have in Iceland(IMO) is Danish... Faxe Amber.
But then again, we only drink to get drunk, so we normally just buy a bottle of rum or vodka.
Just finished my 3rd Amber and 7th glass of double Captain Morgan in coke.
EDIT: Oh yeah, just so you won't take as an alcoholic it's only about 12'o clock here in Iceland.

The nostradamus one looks nice.
I'm diggin that hobgoblin glass you got in the 2nd to last one haha.
Don't know whati 'm drinkin tonight. Goin to a buddies to play a lil beer pong. I think i'm the only person at tech that doesn't have a beer pong table. I'm tellin you EVERYBODY and their mothers have em. Its pretty insane how many do. All shapes, sizes and origins. The one time i played i sucked and lost everytime that night.
I need to hurry up and turn 21, because i would definately be buying and posting different beers that i try on a regular basis, but its a pain in the ass going with somebody and getting random beers.

yea, that glass is pretty nice..it came in some tin gift thing with a bottle of hobgoblin. i love buying the gift sets with glasses...but it was also the first time i was able to buy it at the store here after hearing some people talking about it here.
hah beer pong is big down here too..i guess its all over the country where ever college aged people are. i've only played a few times..but i'm not big on drinking games..i play one and pretty much only one...its called drinking. i just keep drinking and that usually works in getting me drunk.
how much longer do you have to go till you are 21? mark just turned 21 last month..i can't believe my little brother can drink now haha. before i know it, he'll have is masters in math.
it did suck though having to get random people to buy beer..i usually just stuck with simple/cheap shit to not confuse things.
back when we lived on camp lejeune, friends and i would all be hanging out on the weekend and decide to get some beer. since it was a marine base, we'd always make our one friend ask the marines for beer because she was fucking HOT! and she liked metal too. too bad she didn't like me. oh well hah. she would ask "why do you always get me to do it??" we'd just look at her and say..sheeeitt! you should've seen those marines..they'd come flocking then try and hang out with us but that wasn't happening haha. ahh that good ol days.
heres a pic of the bavaria lager/pilsner something or other.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_8291s.jpg
not bad...but not good. i'd easily take yuengling, heineken, st pauli, etc over this. ESPECIALLY after drinking all these other good beers..it made it taste worse than i remembered. luckily its cheap.

Yeah i saw he recently did. In december. I don't turn 21 till july 20th. I got a lil ways to go, but it'll be here before i know it.
Yeah i hate asking my friends to buy me beer, i'm just like man i really fucking hate to bother you.... I feel like i've been of legal age for like 2 or 3 fuckign years now. I just tell them get me a 30 pack of miller lite. That works for me. Or some 40s.
When i lived at home even back in highs chool i used to ask my parents to buy m e some haha. One time my mom came back with some 40s. It was awesome. They always buy me beer when i go home. although it takes a fucking act of god to get them out of the house, what it equates to is me going with them on an errand and them getting me beer then (only if i come, thats incentive enough ha).
Back in the day in most of high school when i started drinking i would get my friend to get us beer. He would get whtaever people he knew at the time to get us beer. Also sometimes i would rely on my other friend who knew some peoples. It was always gay like that.
The first time i had 40s one of my friends (who is now like 29 ha) he bought us 14 40s. Between like 5 of us and him. It was those miller high lifes i was telilng you about. He came otu of foodlion with a cart fullllll of them. You can only imagine going to the counter with a cart full of 40s. hahah.

tm - haha yea i can picture that! its been so long since i've had a 40 though..almost not sure if i could go back to them. high life has been about the shittiest beer i've had in quite some time.
wake - not sure on the abv either..i had some of that in italy though. it was alright..but if you go back to that restaurant, ask if they have birra moretti. that stuff was pretty good...i drank a bit of it while in italy since it was good and cheap. here its a little on the expensive side since its imported.

Hey graf, how was that dogfish brown ale? I'm dying to try some of their beers. Fuck you MOE...haha, you fuckers and your HYPE BEER.
*Chugs Molson Canadian*
I drank 3 Rochefort 10's last night..and then realizing I wanted to get a buzz, I was chugging JD and my friend's 43% moonshine. lol. It's amazing how subtle or even relaxing a hangover can be with craft beer...but NOT with deadly, chemical ridden hard liquor.
Good pics guys, I love the PIX.

"bought a 6 of dogfish head indian brown ale. which says on the bottle " a clean well-hopped brown ale with aromatic barley, caramelized brown sugar and whole leave liberty and goldings hops." it poured with a fairly small head that didn't last long at all. smells kinda like roasted malt..but very its very subtle. tastes somewhat bitter..not as hoppy as i had hoped thinking an iba would be very similar to an ipa. good..but i would say i'd take the rogue brown ale over this."
posted that the other day. its pretty good..but i think i'll try other dfh beers instead of giving this another go. i still have one or two left though, so maybe they will sway my opinion. i'd go with the ipas as moe has mentioned.
not looking forward to drinking my last duvel though. parting is such sweet sorrow.
that anchor porter was pretty tasty. have you tried their other beer? i'm interested in trying their "steam beer" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_beer
edit....well so much for those last two ibas...i drank them both last night at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Since I had to make cookies to send to collee kids and soldiers in Iraq I couldn't make the drunken chicken last night so I did it tonight.
I put some garlic cloves in the Bud Select can and stuffed it in a whole chicken's large cavity. Removing the heart, giblets and neck first. I poured a bit of the beer in the bottom of the pan, too. I had it in my big stainless stock pot and put the lid on it. Roasted it for about an hour at 400 F. and then dumped diced potatoes and an onion around it and let it cook another 40 minutes. Good stuff!
EDIT: Dessert was homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sammichs with black walnut icecream. I used stone ground wheat flour so they do have some health bennies.
Dinner was divine.

sounds good to me! tonight i had a crappy dinner..but i had good beer.
i took your advice bassb, i liked the blanche de chambly, so i tried the la fin du monde. i didn't realize that meant the end of the world. its a belgian style strong ale..triple i guess. its pretty damn good. i'll be trying their other beer which i forgot what the name of... the belgian style beers had to grow on me because of their full..somewhat sweet taste. i am used to drinking stout, porter, and ipas mostly. i also got a couple other belgians. chimay blue the dark ale, and st bernardus biere blanche witbier.
got a 4 pack of the la fin du monde

they were all good...i think the chimay had a bit of a strong flavor for my liking..the witbier was good, nothing really bold (even though i complained about the strong flavor of the last hah), and i think the fin du monde was my favorite of the bunch. i'd gladly drink them all again, but the chimay wasn't that cheap, neither was the st. bernardus..and the unibroue wasn't too cheap either really haha. fucking good beer!

Yeah..fucking good beer= fucking expensive. lol. I don't think I have a way of getting St. Bernardus..the chimay blue I think I can get in a holiday giftset whenever I have extra money laying around(LOL..rarely). That's awesome you tried La Fin Du Monde, I have ONE in my fridge that I'm supposed to age...haha, it's pretty damn tempting to drink though. I almost found though, the more times I've drank it..the more I've enjoyed the taste. It really grows on you, the balance of the brew is exceptional.
I really don't know what I'm getting for the weekend, probably some more Propeller RIS. One of these days though I have to pick up a quart of Wild Turkey to just have on hand...in case of emergencies.

i agree with that completely. with the blanche de chambly, i thought the first one was kinda good..but somewhat strange. the next one i liked...the next one i liked more..and the last one i wished wasn't my last. the fin du monde was the same..only i was a little more used to their style of beer and i must say i really liked it. i'm sure all three of them could've been aged..but as far as right off the shelf..the unibroue would be what i would pick up next. its actually the cheapest too considering it was a 4 pack.

Its a fuckin' chick drink...you'll find it on shelves next to Mike's Hard.
I'm sold on the Boulder brewery line like Fat Tire...and Bud Light. Fuck, America's drinking selction rules. I'm drinkin' Wicked Ale now which tastes like shit IMO
I snuck into some blues bar with my dad and I tried a red pepper based beer and a japanese beer based off rice. I liked the pepper one but I can't think of the fucking name. I reunited with him after 10 years of being apart so fuck you if you wanna make a comment on hangin' out with the pops...its a very metal thing to do
*i'm drunk..i made it sound like bud light was part of boulder beer but it isn't i'm 'havubg issues tonight
