Well, I can't say I poured it to have a bad head. ..it didn't really last.
It was pretty decent stuff. They don't sell it in 6 packs though, just $2cdn a bottle.

We call that size a "66'er" here...no idea why...it's almost 60 oz.
I didn't drink a lot last night. 6 or so..probably won't drink tonight...New Year's on the other hand...

hoegaarden is alright...just had some not too long ago. i'm not really a wheat beer fan though...
tonight i bought a 6 of harpoon ipa, a 6 of paulaner oktoberfest marzen amber, and a 32 oz bottle of mississippi mud black and tan. the black and tan is a combination of a "robust english porter" and a "fine continental pilsner." it was ok...especially for $3 a quart! but it was pretty watery tasting compared to yeungling b & t as far as i'm concerned.
the ipa was very good..so far i haven't had a single ipa i don't like. i hope it stays that way.
honestly i think ipas might be sneaking into my favorite beer spot. i usually prefer stouts or porters, but i am starting to think otherwise.
the paulaner was pretty tasty as well...kinda fruity/sweet. a german lady shopping at the store actually recommended the paulaner brand. she pointed at their wheat offering though. they had the wheat, original (a lager of sorts), and the oktoberfest.

i would say there is no best..just what you like heh. i know thats a crappy answer though.. for me...i'd say the holiday porter or octoberfest.
http://www.samueladams.com/world_of...spx?jump=styles
that link shows all the beers they make. i haven't had a few that i would like to try...the cream stout and pale ale are probably good..i just haven't seen them before.
edit...maybe i should get the champagne of beers tonight for new years. i think i'll pass... not sure what to get though, but it will be something good for sure.

Aww man, I finally tried some Rogue Dead Guy Ale and the Chocolate stout...both were superior, especially the chocolate stout. I fucking loved it. I cheers'ed in the New Year with a bottle of Unibroue Trois Pistoles. I still have an ass load of beer left(2 un open growlers and then some..) and I'll tell the story tomorrow of what happened in the beer store.
Cheers ma fuckers.

I was actually drinking sam adams tonight. The best sam adams in my opinion is the black lager and brown ale. Both are good.
I had boston lager from a keg all night.

I bought two six packs of Samuel Adams Boston Lager. It was the best beer i've had. It was very expensive, but well worth it.

Definately showing your age haha. No offense. But boston lager isn't that expensive, and you should definately try other beers. Although i've heard plenty of people say its a good solid beer (and ill agree) i won't call it best. I would rather drink miller lite on a normal day than sam adams. It left me thirsty and my mouth completely dried out after a few beers.
It appeared to be pretty bitter. Ugh. I'll pass on it, i haven't been too impressed with it.
you should get the sam adams variety packs.

i'm currently enjoying a sam adam's black lager. this beer is delicious.....not too thick and i really enjoy the aroma.
i had the sam adam's holiday porter yesterday as well as MGD, natty light, lonestar, corona, bud light...........a rather eclectic mix of beer to say the least. but damn......that porter was fuckin delish.
requiem....i agree. the boston lager is really tastey. not my fav, but well worth the money.

godamn, I found half a bomber of my Rogue Chocolate Stout this morning..I was drinking it right before 12am and then I chugged the glass so I could cheers 12am with a Trois Pistoles. I forgot about the rest of the bottle. lol.
I had a little of it tonight, but it was so godamn flat I decided to marinade a steak with it. Should be good eatin' tomorrow.
It was really good, you can really taste the chocolate to which it is made with.

yea i hate that shit! so does my roommate. whenever we get those winter packs, we are always trying to trade them off to each other or other people that are here and have beer. usually doesn't work unless they've never had it.
tonight i picked up a pint bottle of st. johns india pale ale and a six of stoudt's ESB. i haven't had the esb, but i'm drinking the ipa now. the guy at the store mentioned it was a british style ipa and far less hoppy than the stuff over here. i whole heartedly agree. its good, but not an ipa i'll be picking up again...especially at 3.55 a pint! its still a tasty beer that i would not refuse. i do have a cold too, so theres a chance i can't taste things as well i guess..

Drinking the rest of the Hobgoblin. This shit is actually REALLY fucking good.
Its not too rough and has a really yummie taste. I must say that lately i've been dissapointed with some of these lagers/ales and what not that i've drank recently because of the just.. too strong and bitter nasty taste. This hobgoblin stuff has like a .... really drinkingable for good taste taste.

yea, i've been getting over this fucking cold i've had since i came home from xmas. got home just in time to catch some flu or something. still have it but am getting a lot better..took some of that nasty ass nyquil shit.. i hate that stuff more than anything.
i've had some beer..not too much while trying to get better, but i had a little.
just tried some st. peters cream stout and their porter as well. pretty good..much better than their ipa. still 3.55 a pint though! not something i'll pick up often for sure. also bought a variety twelve pack from shipyard brewing co. came with old thumper extra special ale, winter ale, prelude special ale, and their ipa.
the ipa i thought kinda sucked..well for an ipa. it was good as a beer on its own..but it was nothing like i hoped/expected. the rest were alright..kinda drank them all in a blur the other night having not had anything to eat all day except for lunch..won't be picked up this assortment again. most likely won't be buying the beers..except old thumper since that is a little better i think..and this store here sells it in 2.99 bottles that are a bit more than a pint.

Yes, didn't we discuss the Shipyard IPA before? haha. I had it a little over a year ago...I hated it..I remember it tasting a lot like fruit gone bad. Then again, the sixer I bought was probably on the shelf for quite some time as well.
I bought 2 six packs of Propeller ESB last night as well as a bomber of their London Style Porter. I offered a bunch of people try the porter, most of them seemed to like it quite a bit..some of the potheads turned it down. I'm getting a fellow bassist more and more into beer, which is really exciting. I kinda felt like a dick after I declined to trade an ESB for a Stella...haha, I ended up giving him two of mine anyways. It was sweet though because he had a Hoegaarden laying around and he gave it to me. I've known him for a few years, but he's living with a good friend of mine now so I see him more often. Another beer drinking friend is always a huge plus.
Introducing good beer to people feels great. Now I know how Christian missionaries feel!

i can't remember haha..we've talked about a couple of different beers. but i agree..pretty bad as far as ipas go..possibly my least favorite so far.
ehh stella is good...but i think i'd drink an esb over a pilsner.
hah yea its cool letting people try out some really good beer they've never heard of. once i got that beer making kit and started trying micros on my own, my one roommate started getting into it as well, so we'd trade beers and whatnot if we'd get different things or just one of us got something. get to cover more ground that way hah.

haha one in the same...not my favorite style of beer. definitely a very good pilsner, but i'd take an ipa, porter, stout, or various other ales over a pilsner for the most part.

Yeah, actually that's what I later said. haha, he went to a bar though with some of his other friends and by the time he came back I forgot all about the free Stella.
I rarely get very drunk off of just beer, even regardless of how much I drink..HOWEVER, after having two beers constantly on the go, and having 2-3 chugs from every beer...it's definitely easier to get a buzz!
Me and my dwarf drummer friend were jamming, and it got progressively worse as the night went on. lol. He was drinking Molson cold shots. Cheap 6% abv lager swill in tall, but little cans to appeal to 19-25 y/o, non experienced beer drinker. There is even a bullseye on the side of the can for shotgunning!
http://www.pac.ca/images/Comp/_rigi...onColdShots.gif
They are pretty bad, along with all the Molson products I've ever tried.

I enjoyed Stella Artois. I didn't have much of a problem with it.
I want to get something tonight to take back home with me tomorrow. (going back to my apartment.) Although i doubt my mom'll go and pick it up for me. Not to mention i don't feel like asking, or even going over there myself.

Due to a shitty selection of guest ales at my local Weatherspoons pub, i was once again drinking JagerBulls again 3 doubles and two 'quads', the latter being just a double JagerBull with another double thrown in for good measure

I just got the news of my life....
The best local micro brewery, Propeller, is making a Russian Imperial Stout to be released very shortly(this "winter")...soooo fucking stoked. All of their beers are world class bombz.
I put "winter" in quotations because it has been a solid 8-10C all week...WTF. Hell, ever last year and all the years prior it's been - 10- -30+C at this time. I predict Black Metal will start becoming hugely popular in the deserts, where temperatures will be truly grim and heatstroke ridden.
WHERE IS THE WINTER GONE. WE HAVE FAILED THIS PLANET OH MIGHTY GOD.
So I'll probably be enjoying a godamn Russian Imperial Stout on a nice day at the beach. lol.

Yeah, except they don't know how to handle it! LOLLL. There is a province right off of Nova Scotia called Newfoundland(pronounced "New fin land") that has some of the biggest snow plows in the world. They used them here 2 years ago when we got a huge snowstorm, they're fucking insane. But here is the snowfall Newfoundland can get..and this shit isn't very uncommon either. lol.

I got an email from a Propeller guy saying the Imperial Stout is all bottled, they are just waiting for the labels. Supposed to be released next Monday and it's going to be 8.5% abv. I'm fucking stoaked! Hell, I'm going to age a few bottles too.

haha, you alkie! What kind of beer was it?
I'm super stoked about this Imperial Stout, mainly because I've never had one and I've been dying too...annnd it's a new local beer! Propeller is going to be a pretty big name soon enough I think, well...perhaps as Unibroue is...maybe.

CHEERS TO BEERS!

haven't had any of those...haven't wanted to try some chimay though.
tonight i bought a 6 of stoudts imperial oatmeal stout, a pint bottle of some dunedin brewery pipers pale ale, zywiec porter, and some other porter i forgot the name of.
the stoudts is fucking good, but this zywiec porter has a funny aftertaste that isn't good. it is 9.5% alcohol though! still..the first porter i can recall that i don't like. the pale ale is a florida beer. dunedin is the name of the city(maybe even county..not sure about that though) that its made in...it was pretty tasty too, but it was the last one and i've never seen it there before..so not too sure how often i'll be able to get it. it was crazy to pour though, no matter how slow i poured, the head was just insane! i had the glass at more than a 45 degree angle and it still foamed up like crazy and i had to stop pouring almost immediately. it took over five separate pours and a few swings right out of the bottle to get one pint out of the bottle.

You mean you want to try the chimay? lol.
I've only had the Duvel before, at least a year ago. I now have four Rochefort 10's, because it's supposed to a really good Quadrupel..which means it was filtered four times..I think.
Both my crisper sections in my fridge are fulled to capacity with Belgians and Unibroue Trois Pistoles and La Fin du Monde....I'm thinking I'm going to ask my dad about a mini fridge for my birthday in March. haha.
I've had a Zywiec Lager before, but you can't get any other styles from them locally. That Imperial Oatmeal Stout looks damn good. Godamnit graf! haha.
I'm still really stoked about the local Propeller company getting the RIS, godamn! I'll be sure to take pics when I get some next Monday.

Jagerbombs would be a lot more enjoyable if a little can wasn't $3 a pop. Hmm, this makes me wanna pick up some Crown Royal for Friday. Getting drunk off beer just isn't the same.
Steve, don't drive your car some night and drink with me!

just had a domestic mircobrewed beer.......saint arnold's lawnmower. twas 7.99 a 6 pack and a lager. tasted really fuckin fantastic, hint of lime, but was a little pricey. i also got a 6 pack of guinness extra stout. that beer fucked me hard and swell. all is gone.
last night, meesah dranky a 12 packy of tecate (that is my drunk jar jar impression. fuck HBO for showin the first star wars when i was drunk). you nigz will probably diss it, but i remembered tecate being way darker. it tasted mildly sweet and especially delish after a couple of lime slices. what are you nigz opinions on negro modello? is it possible to drink more than 4 of them bitches??

Yeah, most microbrew is around $11-12 for a 6 pack. So $10-11us. I found out two other private booze stores selling sixers of 341ml Rogue for $16..but sadly I haven't been to either store before.
You Americans are godamn lucky. Although, like I've said before..we could be living in some garbage country that only sells one type of cheap lager.
Oh, in speaking of what I just mentioned..I have a big bottle of Presidente my dad brought me back from the Dominican! haha, it will bring me back to good times whenever I'll drink it. It's not too bad for a cheap lager.
Edit - Here is something I think I may have to take part in..

Yeah the woodchuck stuff isn't bad. The place up in fburg has like a variety pack and has all of the types in it. I thought about getting it.
What the hell is a crawl?
A brawl maybe?

crawl..just going from pub to pub drinking...if you do it right, you should have to crawl home since you can't walk straight.

Gotcha. Its pretty confusing that they have those animals with beers and boxing gloves cause that makes me want to fight haha.
Yeah i had some of the granny smith stuff left over the other night and drank em.
Its part of a balanced drinking diet. Gotta have the granny smith for your fruit, your wheat ale for your breads, your guiness for your meaty portion, and to top if off one of those Vanilla Cream stouts i had for desert.
THATS how you stay healthy.

THATS how you stay healthy.

haha hell yea! fuck the atkins diet..bring on the booze!
i don't think i'm gonna drink anything tonight. just gonna take it easy, then abuse myself the next night. i've never figured out why our neighbors always have parties in the middle of the week. the cops ALWAYS show up, and at least for my roommate and i, we have to work in the morning. i bet those cops had a laugh though...not every night you get to break up a toga party. i met some girl there last night, her and her friend walked over to our place after the cops showed up. turned out she was into metal too! so i gave her my number..should've gotten hers but i was drunk and didn't, and now hopefully she'll call me and we'll go to some shows coming up. too bad i forgot her name.

ouch
i bought a 6 of flying dog tire bite golden ale, a 6 of dale's pale ale (cans), the last shakesphere stout, and since i called a client that nobody wanted to talk to to tell him bad news, my co worker bought me a big bottle of shipyard longfellow winter ale...basically because it has a scarf ha. it wasn't that great really. towards the bottom of my winter favorites.
surprisingly the dales pale ale if very good. its a really tasty pale ale..fairly hoppy. i was always turned off by the fact it was in a can, but today (as every friday) they had the beer girls there giving out free promotional samples. today was the dale's pale ale and this other german beer i forgot the name of. i tried them both and wound up buying a 6 of the cans. even my roommates laughed and doubted. then i made them all try a swig. converts..all of them haha. its good stuff. i'd rather they put their beer in a bottle, but whatever. the tire bite golden ale is ok, but its just not my thing
its a "plain tasting" ale if i could describe it as short as possible. good, but not noteworthy. heres a couple pics.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7945s.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7946s.jpg
second beer had a head, but there was a delay in taking the pic so it was gone.
i guess i forgot to get one of the tire bite. i have a a few more left though.

it tastes good and goes down smooth.
not sure what you mean exactly by reaction time, but it is smooth and you just chug it. it sneaks up on you a little if you do a lot of them. they are expensive though. even doing them at home isn't cheap. a 12 of guinness, a small bottle of baliey's irish cream (well maybe not those tiny ass bottles), and a small bottle of jameson will run you at least 30 bucks.
try it and see how it sneaks up. only sneaks somewhat because you have to chug the whole thing at once..so it depends on how often you do each car bomb and how much booze you can rapidly drink.

Dude those pics are fucking hilarious. It has a fucking scarf ont he beer. I thought it came with like a scarf for you to wear.
That pale ale is from a can thats also hilarious. That sounds fucking nasty ahha. I'm not a big can person. Although lately i drink most beer from a can. (like basic beers, i.e. miller and keystone, although at my friends' place they always have keystone in a keg)
I ordered pizza... haha I coulda had beer and pizza but its just beer.

well thats the thing. i hate cans too, and i love good beer. i never was gonna buy this shit even though its a pale ale, which i usually like. today since they had the beer ladies there giving out samples of shit..one of them being this dales pale ale..i tried it and was really surprised how good it was. even the girl agreed it was damn good. so did the guy at the register. i was comparing it to another beer with the register guy so it wasn't like he was just saying "oh yea its good" i have gotten to know those two guys a bit better after going in there all the time, so we talk about beers usually while i'm there.
bottom line: its in a can and is better than many bottled beers. i'd take a can of this over a bottle of yuengling lager, or black and tan.

Yuengling is about the "weakest" variety of a lager. Its basically the easy way into lagers. It goes down pretty much like water after a lil bit.
And six that story is hilarious.

well you gotta learn to pace yourself. you can get a lot more fucked up drinking a bunch of car bombs if you don't take it slow compared to a random liquor and coke drank at a casual pace.

ehh for cheap beers yuengling is a champ. way better than any miller, budweiser, or high life. not too expensive..not amazing, and not really really cheap. just a comparison. its better than other better beers too i would say. i forget the name of the german beer they had for tasting too..but it was in a bottle and tasted worse than the canned pale ale. it was fucking good..regardless of the can. i would buy it again, i'd say.

OH i totally agree. Its DAMN well priced. 1450 for a 30 pack of bottles. You can't really beat that.
I used to drink it ALLL the time. But its a different drunk thats why each beer has its place. I won't call it better than miller lite, its just different.

Strange place to try a new beer. I was at my mom's place where I used to live for the first time in two years. I said I was going to get a beer from the car(everyone else was having wine) but she gave me a beer I've never had before.
Black Pearl Cream Ale..It used to be produced by a microbrew right here in Dartmouth, but the brewery was bought out and Sleeman still makes this particular beer. I'm not sure how widely available it is. Hell, I think it may even be sold only in eastern canada?
It wasn't too bad. Pleasant to look at due to it's retained lacing and soft reddish brown colour. Solid, smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Lightly toasted malt to start, sour alcohol to end with.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/97/301
I think most of those reviews were done before the Maritime Beer Company was bought out...BEFORE CORPZ PROBABLY CHANGED THE TAST3. The label on the bottle didn't look remotely close to that...it was all yellow and had a huge black pearl on it.
After that I went to my potential drummer's place. We jammed with the potential guitarist of our potential band. I drank two La Fin Du Monde and played EA Fight Night...for ps3(rented)...on like a 13 inch screen. lol
I told this one guy that was there that I was drinking a 9% abv beer and that it's $18 a six pack here. He goes "Well, that's not that bad...I mean, it would get you drunk!"
I dunno about him, but I'm not too crazy about downing 9% Belgian Pale Ales.
He did like the taste of it though. And it makes me a) I was in Quebec or b) I was a millionaire...because the shit is expensive here! I definitely can't afford to get drunk off it. I'd much rather have a bunch of say 5% ales, then a few stouts/porters, and a Belgian style or two. Not only do you get to switch up beer styles, you can get pretty buzzed! Also, this way you never really get bored of what you're drinking.
What's new in everyone's world of beer?

tonight i'm just having some sierra nevada pale ale, some high life, and maybe a big can of budweiser. i think the can is 24 oz. the pale ale is great, but the other beers suck and i just didn't feel like spending a bunch tonight.
last night i picked up a 6 of grolsch amber ale, a bottle of avery brewing co "the reverend" belgian style quadrupel ale, and a bottle of chamberlain pale ale from shipyard brewing co.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7966s.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7967s.jpg
the reverend had a very strong flavor..kinda fruity, its 10% abv which adds to the flavor, but this is a beer that would be better if aged. the flavors would blend and mellow out, and be smoother i guess.
the chamberlain pale ale was pretty good. i'll be picking up some more of it since they now sell it at one of the grocery stores here. its only 2.99 for a pint and 6 fl oz. memory of the flavor is a tad hazy, but it was mildly hoppy, but not as hoppy as an ipa.
i didn't take a pic of the grolsch i guess...honestly i was disappointed with that one. i think their regular beer is alright, not something i get too often, but i will definitely not be buying any amber ale again. i don't think i even poured it into a glass. its pretty amber, the bottles were clear so i could see exactly how the beer looked. the smell didn't make me think i was going to love the sip i was about to take, and the taste confirmed it. i might one day try their blonde lager, but this amber ale makes me more hesitant.

I really like how you are taking pics of the bottle with a mug or whatever filled with the beer next to it. I'm finding those pics to be pretty cool and a cool collectors kind of thing. Maybe a kick ass thing to do. Is make a background for your computer by making a collection of all those just in like one big ass picture. If you get what i mean. Just all side by side. That would be a cool background. Maybe with each of the Names written at the bottom of each pic.

Dude! Proper glassware for that Belgian style ale! Chalice, Goblet, Over-sized wine glass! This is to main a stable head retention as well as bring out the flavors with their easy to sip surface.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/101/glassware
I was so pissed I didn't get the Duvel giftset because I missed out on the glass. I usually use my Leffe snifter or wider wine glasses.
This isn't very wide...so it's not even really a good example.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...oispistoles.jpg
I'll have to take a pic of a La Fin Du Monde sometime soon. You can see about a billion bubbles in the head. It's pretty amazing.

I was so pissed I didn't get the Duvel giftset because I missed out on the glass. I usually use my Leffe snifter or wider wine glasses.
This isn't very wide...so it's not even really a good example.

I'll have to take a pic of a La Fin Du Monde sometime soon. You can see about a billion bubbles in the head. It's pretty amazing.

I usually use a Pint Glass when drinking, regardless of the beer (including keystone light, etc.) However, I really want a badass stein.
