Beer that comes in a green bottle is shit.
I didn't drink anything tonight. On the other hand, my mattress smells like beer due to my puke. So that is both good and bad.
Last night, I poured 3/4 of a St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout in stevefrost's sink because we had to leave. ...although at that time I probably didn't need anymore beer anyways. lol.
Can anyone recommend some good Belgians? Like I said, I'm still really new to them. I may try the Westmalle tomorrow.

Holy crap, I opened my Westmalle trappist Tripel for the first time..haha, I aged it for two days.
Godamn what a taste! Huge citrus presence and coriander. Fairly strong(9.5%), but pretty good so far. I'll definitely buy more to actually age. Cheers.

this may sound weird, but i found a more pleasant way to drink vodka. it was skyy, which aint bad.....but anyways, i put it in a big ass glass with icecubes. then, while drinking, i simulataneously inhaled air through my nostrils. the combination was not as harsh as a straight shot without the possiblity of vodka air snorting.
what do people think of sparks? engery drink + malt liquor does not sound like a winning combination. thoughts?

Hmm, I just noticed my local NSLC carries Newcastle Brown Ale and Innis & Gunn Pale Ale. I'll have to check all this shit out soon. On BA, the pic of Innis & Gunn was in a clear bottle...when will you Brits learn???? Sunlight is terrible for beer! I'm glad Wychwood and Sam Smith(never tried their clear bottles) has changed to brown bottles though.
Speaking of Brit beers, godamn I wish I had a Fuller's London Porter right now. Oh yeah, I still need to the their London Pride.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. GO MOTHER COUNTRY'S BREWS.

mb - sparks is not my thing. i tried it..tastes like carbonated fruitiness or something. had one..and it was likely my last one.
bb - the samuel smiths here all comes in clear bottles i think. i guess they just put it in a dark room not to be disturbed while making it?
later i'll take a pic of the beers in those variety packs i had over the weekend.

Just bought some Bombardier, Bishop's Finger, Fuller's ESB and some McEwan's Champion. Never tried the champion before...
Edit: Yum. The Champion is quite sweet. Quite a bit sweeter than the other ales I've tried.

Cold lager is great, since lager doesn't have any flavour anyway, but ale should be at room temperature IMO.
After a couple of sips of the Champion, it takes pretty bad. Much too sweetly rich for me.

I've had an Innis & Gunn Oak Aged ale- was very nice, had the aroma of a whiskey, probably to do with the oak... and was also in a clear bottle
blizzardbeast: I'm not such a fan of Bombardier, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad drop, but it didn't blow me away (apologies for the pun

For ideal ale, it should be "cool" not cold..but not at room temp. Belgians are definitely more suited for room temp.
moe - The best brown I've had by far was Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale. Godamn that shit was good.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/113/576
Just received two emails from a local brew kit store. For everything I need to start making 23l of beer it will cost me roughly $100cdn. I have about 30 unique bottles(my slow growing collection), but I guess I'm going to have to buy more beer to save for bottling my own brew. Oh, woe is me.
LOL @ 23 Litres of beer.

these are the two variety packs i bought.4 of each in the first pic and 2 of each from the second.
the michelob was good..but it was like i expected..somewhat light/watery. i was surprised that one of my favorite out of the bunch was the wheat beer. besides amber bock..i didn't know they even made any of these beers.
the other group were part of this "beers of america" 12 pack. they were all decent to pretty tasty. better than the michelob, but i don't i'll be picking up more of it. i guess the same could be said for the michelob too..i just wanted to give it a try since they don't normally offer it.

Me and my friend bought 2 new 6 packs we hadn't tried before. I can't remember off hand (i'll look them up another time then repost) One had like this fucking kick ass devi looking guy on the front and the other was some companies creame ale. Both were pretty solid.

Well that's just it..It's fucking shit on it's own..it mixes very well with any Red Bull/Full Throttle drink though.
If you want black liquorice taste...try sambuca....
My friend's mom would drink that shit all the time when he lived with her.
graf - I've never tried Arrogant Bastard, as I said I think it's impossible to get anywhere up here...but godamn, I'd trade in a second if I didn't have to risk getting prosecuted.
Fuck, I'm so excited for next week, so many new beers to be tried..and at least 10 of them will be microbrewed on location.

just make the return address the address of some church or something.
why next week? just holiday vacation time? i have to find out what the beer stores holiday hours are. going to be picking up something to take to my parents house since my brother just turned 21 a couple days ago.
heres what i had last night:
rogue mocha porter
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7504s.jpg
and great divide oak aged yeti imperial stout
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7505s.jpg
they both kicked ass and i'd definitely buy them again. actually i'm going to age the yeti since ba says you can age it for a while..not sure how long since it just says something like "a long time" it was 8 bucks though for that bottle! not something i'll be drinking often..unfortunately the mocha porter was one of the better porters i've had so far, that i can remember at least. i still have to say dead guy or shakespeare stout are my favorites from rogue though.
gonna pick up something tonight but not sure what..i've never been to this grocery store so i don't know what their selection is like..or if they even have beer.
edit..on the bottle of the yeti it says the beer is 9.5% and 75 ibus

Next week I'm going brewpub hopping because I'll have expendable Christmas cash. I also said I'd buy my buddy dave a shitload of beer because we hook one another up time to time. There is a brewpub called "Rogue's Roost"(nothing to do with Rogue) that have a few seasonals going on right now, an Imperial Stout and I think a barelywine. Another pub is called "Henry House", which was originally the house of one of the Father's of Canadian Confederation..the upstairs is a bar/restaurant and the basement is an English style pub. The house was built in 1834. I don't think their beer is brewed on site though..it's at a brewery down the street.. it serves only cask pulled ales. There is another pub called the Split Crow which has a small brewpub inside.
http://www.henryhouse.ca/
http://www.roguesroost.ca/index.htm
I'm just so excited because I haven't been to any of them, and all of them are supposed to have some damned fine brews. It just sucks because you can't buy bottled versions of the beer.

I almost bought that rogue stuff while i was at Kroger. They have a damn good beer selection. I'll take a look and see if i can find that beer that we got. I can't even remotely remember the name to it. The brand anyways.

Michael Jackson(The Beer Hunter) has announced he has Parkinson's Disease. That explains is appearance on Conan where John Lovitz kept making fun of him for seemingly being drunk. How can John Lovitz even criticize anyone...does he even have a career outside of Subway commercials?
Man, hopefully I'll get over to Halifax this weekend and pick up some Mocha Porter...that and their Chocolate Stout I think are next on my "to drink list".

I'm just so excited because I haven't been to any of them, and all of them are supposed to have some damned fine brews. It just sucks because you can't buy bottled versions of the beer.

looks like you should have a badass time. i wish we had more places like that around here. tonight i went to this grocery store i've never been to before and they happened to have a different selection of beers than most of the stores around..well besides the real beer store. i bought a six of avery brewing ipa, and a botlle of avery salvation..a "belgian style golden ale"
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7507s.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7510s.jpg
the ipa is the shit! i'll have to try some of the other ipas i've had to compare, but this is yet another kick ass ipa. if you can find it, try it.
the salvation was damn good as well..these "belgian style" ales i've had lately are growing on me..but it says you can cellar this beer as well. i'd be interested in trying that too..if only it didn't take so damn long.

Although before a beer trip..I would need to acquire money.. haha, someday.
My friend and I are going to bus it to the Propeller brewery tomorrow and I'm going to exchange my 2 growlers and buy a 3rd and he's going to buy his first(and I'd assume second).
It's like a girl breaking her cherry.
Tomorrow is going to look a lot like this pic I posted a few weeks ago.

They are 64oz, so a little less than 6 beer. Needless to say..if I do get another one, I'll be pretty buzzed..especially if I get one with IPA which is 6.5%.
I may, I may not...although I probably may.
Those little handles are kind of a piss off..it actually seems like more of a risk by trying to hold on to the bottle by them.
Seriously graf, there must some microbreweries somewhat near you? These growlers are a great investment and save me $3.50 a 6 pack on every growler I exchange.

No.
a) It is not legal.
b) You are underage.
c) It's draught beer so it would be long flat before it reached you anyways.

Anyone remember Nickelodeon Gak?
http://www.gdusa.com/feature/GakSplats.jpg
I realized today that's exactly what my main local microbrewery's store smells like. It fucking stinks. Would it be the chemical cleaning solution(caustic acid) they use to clean the bottles?

haha that sucks..i remember how that shit smelled. not sure if its that acid or not..a decent guess though.
today i got paid and a little extra for xmas..gonna be heading over to my parents house and since my little brother just turned 21 the other day, i figured i'd bring over some nice beers for him to try..as well as letting my parents try some they've probably never even heard of. so all that together wound up being the largest purchase i've ever made there..besides throwing down on kegs.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7527s.jpg
that box with the nuns is priceless...definitely saving that! thats a box of various beers made by the brewing company called weihenstephan. i found out about them when i think moe blunts asked who was the oldest brewery. did some searching and came up with these guys..founded in 1040! theres five bottles in there and a very nice glass.
to take with me to my parents house..i bought the rogue dead guy ale, and the redhook ipa. they are both kick ass beers and i figure at least someone at my house should like them a lot.
for tonight..i bought the flying dog class pale ale, the box of weihenstephan, and a bottle of great divide fresh hop pale ale...the fresh hop says its 6.1% with 55ibu ..i wish all companies put the abv and ibus on their bottles.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7529s.jpg
the glass and different beers in the box of weihenstephan. i've never had any of their beer before, so i'm looking forward to trying all of these.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7530s.jpg
and last..the fresh hop in the glass i got today.
its going to be a nice night.

haha, good! I'm glad it was expensive!
I went to grab my Propeller pint glass last night and noticed there was a fucking chip in it! Fuck, I'm still kinda pissed about that..that was a $6 glass.
I just had a growler of Propeller IPA(6.5% hehe), a 650ml of London Porter(which a few friends tried and seemed to like a lot) and a bottle of Propeller's Christmas Ale...which was well liked by a few of my buddy's as well. Pretty decent night for inviting a bunch of old high school friends to my place whom got split up due to university. I guess more acquaintances now than friends.
I didn't get much of a buzz, I have a another growler left of ESB, so I'll casually drink that tonight.

Yum. The Marston Old Empire IPA is highly refreshing. Shame I didn't find out about IPAs during the summer.

Went to this store called Wine and More or whatever with my sister today and they have the largest microbrew collection i've ever seen. Not to mention a shit load of variety packs with all sorts of microbrew shit. And i do mean many many many packs of different kinds. Which is pretty sweet. I saw the brew i had the other night in one of hte packs.
I'll hae to go over there before i leave here back from VT and get some of hte b eer there.

Lager boy is afraid of the dark.
I finally bought Fuller's London Pride tonight, firly good for a Pale ale...although I'm weening away from them. Probably wouldn't buy it again because it's almost $4 for a 500ml bottle. However, around the same price is the Fuller's London Porter...I had it for the second time tonight..and godamn that is worth it's weight in gold.
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/71/221
Outstanding review..which is well deserved. I've only reviewed two local beer on BA, usually because it would be kinda weird meeting a guy who is taking notes about the beer he is drinking..Anyways, if you want something to lead you into the darker beers such as stouts...it's a great gateway as well as a one of the best London Porter's you will ever taste.
I drank my Propeller ESB that I bought Friday, which I was obligated to drink because the draught growler's are supposed to be consumed within 48 hours of purchase. So I HAD too. :P
I'm drinking a local beer right now, Garrison Martello Stout, the name and insignia on the bottle of a guard tower in Halifax which was built in 1796.

Does local history make a fine stout even better? Perhaps.
Also, I may go travel to Albany, NY in May because my friend wants to go to a Nissan meet. haha. He thinks his stock 240sx will be welcomed there. Nonetheless, if I can loan(and never pay back) some cash from my dad...it would be a grand beer trip for me!

However, around the same price is the Fuller's London Porter...I had it for the second time tonight..and godamn that is worth it's weight in gold.

currently enjoying a samuel smith's nut brown ale. not quite what i was expecting, but delicious, nevertheless. the beverage was quite expensive; 7.99 for a 4 pack (i used to payin 50 cents or less for a beer).

Between me any my mates, London Pride is known as a 'textbook pint', which sets the benchmark for other ales. A pint of Abbot's is also a textbook pint too

It was good, but man...I haven't tried a London Porter to really come close to Fuller's version. Definitely one of my favourite beers. Good job you British filth!
I let this lager drinker I met last night have a few gulps, he even liked it..he compared it to Guiness, but I guess he wouldn't really know what else to compare it too. Godamnit, I wish stores were open tomorrow so I could buy some more!

Uhhh....yeah. They aren't open, they were however open 24 hours a day for the past 2 weeks.
The only things that are opened are select gas stations. What do you think this is boy? Some Muslim state?

Just bought some Fuller's 1845 and Fuller's Golden Pride. Fuller's is steadily turning into my favourite brewer.

Got a Wychwood 12 pack (3 each of Hobgoblin, Wychcraft, Circle Master and Fiddlers' Elbow), should be good, the only on i haven't had the pleasure of trying before is Fiddlers' Elbow, but i don't think it'll be a disappointment
Also got a 'Black Wych' Tshirt too

Awww, lucky..I wish NS would get those beer..we are just stuck with the BlackWych and Hobgoblin. The hobgoblin is good, and I've only tried one bottle of Blackwych and it seemed pretty bland for a porter. We were lucky to be able to purchase the Bah Humbug, I'm just kinda sad I didn't buy anymore..they sold out so fast!
I'm probably going to drink the pint of Crown Royal Stevefrost gave me for xmas. I haven't drank this stuff in a very long time!

The 1845 is great. Bottle conditioning* kicks ass.
*"Bottle conditioning, where a small amount of yeast is allowed to ferment gently in the bottle, gives 1845 the fresh, natural flavour of real ale."

Bottle conditioning is where it's at, with it you also tend to not get over-carbonated beer too, which is great

Fuck, I drank all of my Crown Royal pint..a glass of fucking MERLOT, a few local stout, and THEN some 46% Cape Breton moonshine..it actually tasted pretty good...being made out of orange juice concentrate and molasseses.
I also jammed through a $700 Ibanez SG and Yorkville 100 watt amp...ha, a LEAUGE away from my set up.
It look me about 10 minutes to edit this fucking godamn post.
Oh, yeah...Cape Breton island can be seen in 27,28 and 29...it's the island off Nova Scotia.
http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/media/info...aps/lobster.jpg
lol, the map is some lobster fishing map...fucking un-wealthy indians.

actually, me and a posse will probably throw down for a keg of zeigen (local beer) bock or something comparable. i'll also be smoking copious amounts of weed and trying to fuck anything that walks.

it sucks..but it'll getcha drunk!! nice and cheap too.
i had a bunch of good stuff over the time i was at my parents house. we had the dead guy ale, red hook ipa, red hook winter ale (very good..tasted like an ipa only darker), sam smiths nut brown ale, and various leinenkugel beers..mostly wheat. we also went to the tampa bay brewing co. to have food and beers. i had a "jack the quaffer porter" and "old elephant foot ipa", and tried a swing of their blond lager and a barley wine style ale. they're beers kicked ass. i'd say its a toss up between the porter and ipa for my favorite but they were all good. the barley wine stuff was 9.6% i think.
stayed over at basstendencies house and we had some yeungling and sam adams winter lager.
got home today and bought some anchor porter, left hand brewing co milk stout, a bottle of old rasputin russian imperial stout to age along with the old stock ale, and a bottle of weihenstephaner korbinian doppelbock.
some older and recent pics.
flying dog classic pale ale (great stuff!)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7531s.jpg
hoegarden wheat beer (worth a go if you like wheat beers)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7533s.jpg
weihenstephaner hefeweissbeir dark (good, but probably won't be picking up any more)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7532s.jpg
weihenstephaner original premium (also good..but i think i'd take the above hefe dark over this)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7535s.jpg
tampa bay brewing co brewing equipment
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7769s.jpg
anchor porter (great stuff! definitely try it if you like porters)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7841s.jpg
weihenstephaner korbinian doppelbock (drinking it now...7.4% and tastes like it...kind of bitter...malty tasting..alright, but not my preference in beer styles)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c...r/IMG_7843s.jpg

Sweet pic's graf! I love Hoegaarden! But godamn, I hope someday I get to try all the beers you have...haha, bastard!
Ok, I just bought some beer....
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...th/beerhold.jpg
From Left to right...
2 Garrison Kybeer Moka Ale
A bomber of Rogue Dead Guy Ale.
A bomber of Rogue Chocolate Stout.
3 growlers..1 of ESB and the other 2 are London Style Porter.
Westmalle Trappist Tripel
6 pack of Unibroue La Fin du Monde($18....9%)
2 Fuller's London Porter
Obviously I'm not going to drink them all tonight..saving some for New Year's, aging the Westmalle and a few Unibroue's.. but I'm probably going to get some more beer tomorrow.
I'm drinking this one now...it's pretty damn good..and local! Tastes like a black coffee.
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l...arrisonmoka.jpg
Cheers motherfuckers!
