spring tensions don't make you a better drummer, personally I like my fairly loose compared to other drummers, other people I know like them REALLY tight, it is all personal preferance really, it is your legs that do the work not the springs so I would concentrate on them.

spring tension definetly is a factor. but its personal preference. whatever tension you feel most comfortable with, thats what'll help you play the fastest. don't forget to re-tighten the springs every month or so, because they stretch and loosen when you play them.

I think its easier to go faster when you have them tight. Also you can have more control and less slop.

to make fast double bass you need muscles in your legs also some
and i can make much faster double bass when i tighten the springs in my pedals.... so i recommend to tighten the springs...

but the problem with tightening them too much is that you lose some control of the pedal, like it isnt as responsive. if you're doing straight ahead rolls all the time, go for it, but if you need to be more intricate then don't tighten them as much.
try tightening the front head of your bass drum if you want to play faster too. it works.

I think you should buy Axis pedals, it gives you the highest speed performence ever, trust me.
