Anyone like Brutal Death Bands
I am not talking about Unique Leader bands or Devourment, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse or Suffocation. I am talking about bands that arent full on blasting that have exterior (from the death metal realm) influences... Bands like
Defeated Sanity, Angel's Decay, Disinter, Mortal Decay, Mangled, Incinerate, Lykathea Aflame, Intestine Baalism, Mortafix, Demilich, Gutted (florida), Dementor, Excommunion, Stuff of this sort of orientation... if you like these or bands like them feel free to post.

Nope. I'm sure nobody on this board likes brutal death metal. Here on this metal board, everyone likes Tiny Tim. Everyone. All of us love Tiny Tim. So please, take your "rock and roll" and go on home. It's quiet time.

Deeds of Flesh is infinitely better than any of those bands you listed, you douche. So Unique Leader bands are now allowed.

i dont mind BDM, but honestly, i prefer grind
from the BDM bands i have herd, i would say that i prefer stuff like Spawn of possession, i know you said no unique leader, but they are one of the more different badns on that label, so im going to stand by them.
Just wait till Nihilist gets his hands on this thread, lists every BDM band in existance from memory, completely destroying it for everone else

Ok maybe i worded that wrong but 1) i know most of the people who respond to this know Unique Leader and 2) Suffocation is great but i was hoping some people would know these lesser known bands 3) i didnt mean to come off as a dipshit, or asshole 4) Yes Deeds of Flesh are great but lots of people know them i figured if you would respond you knew them.

Ha.
Funny how you said "I'm not talking about the Unique Leader bands", yet you mention Mortal Decay. I do not really think they draw exterior influences. They have 2 acoustic songs, sure, but so do Vile.
Same sort of story with Incinerate. Influences outside death metal? I think not. They just sound like Deeds of Flesh, but infinitely more boring, and they have drum programming.
Lykathea Aflame and Intestine Baalism are good. The former much better than the latter. Intestine Baalism have sub-par vocals, with great solos. Lykathea Aflame are, or were, the band Nile want to be.

Unique Leader is the record label set up by Erik from Deeds Of Flesh. Their rosta consists predominantly of brutal death bands.

Yeah, what John said. Erik and Jacoby from Deeds of Flesh setup, and run that label. www.uniqueleader.com. You'll know most of the bands, Father Death. If ya' don't, I highly recommend you listen to them as quickly as possible. They are probably the best (generic) brutal death metal label around.
the European side of things is run by a fellow by the name of Ruud Lemmen. He's in some other band I forgot, and runs a huge webzine based on metal. www.uniqueleader-europe.com.

I suppose so, yes. However, the term "brutal death metal" is more commonly associated with bands like Severe Torture, Deeds of Flesh, Disgorge, etc.

Vital Remains is classic death metal...they got nothing new or original to thier sound, just early to mid 90's death metal...they're not bad or anything, but i have 2 CD's and i have no reason what so ever to get another just for the fact they are not evolving.

Yes, I do like Cannibal Corpse, who are an excellent band by all means, and even if they weren't, it wouldn't make my opinions invalid, nor would I need your validation to begin with. I was actually kidding, which I thought would have been disgustingly obvious by the fact that I've gone to trouble of tabbing 11 of their songs, 5 of them off of their least popular album ever. That's not to mention how often I rave about them in posts and how often I find ways to mention them for no particular reason other than I like them. To be perfectly honest, they are my favorite death metal band and have been for about a year and a half now.
On topic, and just out of curiosity, would some of Dying Fetus's work be classified as brutal death? They seem more technical death these days, but some of their older stuff was brain-numbingly brutal. Not to say their newer stuff isn't heavy, but their focus has obviously shifted over the years.

Yeah, Chris. Brutal death for Dying Fetus. Some people even classify them as "deathcore", because of their obviously hardcore influence.

The bad Brutal Death bands have none. The hybrids (Demilich, Lykathea Aflame) have tons, yet stay brutal.
Not to say that the more simple BD bands suck, it's just that they pale in compairison.

All I liked for my first two years of metal was pure death metal. Whether it was because i hadnt heard much else, or didnt want to. Ive still got a full second case where i put all my old death metal.

You have your opinion and a right to voice it, so don't apologize. It's not like you were an asshole about it. I don't agree with you, especially because Suffocation are a brutal death band. I like some of the more well known brutal death bands, personally, I haven't heard much (if any) of the more underground stuff. If Suffocation, Dying Fetus, and Deeds of Flesh are brutal death, then brutal death is great stuff.

Suffocation aint brutal compared to alot of fucking bands out there. Mortal Decay aint brutal for shit at all, they're melodic and the vocals suck with the flanger effect on their new album. Vital Remains sucks, they're also too melodic to be considered brutal.
Mangled are alrite, the vocals arent guttural for shit, but some of their stuff is really kick ass. Stabwound is a dope ass band, they were the only band in sweden with guttural vocals, every other band in sweden utilizes plain growls. But Gutrot own the shit out of u all, fuck all of u with ur mainstream death metal.
Father death, u my friend has got to get the fuck out of the death scene because u made a total ass of urself....seriously.

Bones, on the Mortal Decay album.. those are John Paoline's real vocals. Listen to their demos.
Gutrot aren't too amazing. They are just another Devourment clone. Great drummer though, and some cool slams.
As for Stabwound being the only band in Sweden with guttural vocals.. hmm. Sanctification, Obscene, Soils of Fate, Deviant, Strangulation, REGURGITATE. Etc etc.

I like Sepsism, Prejudice (except for the voice), Avulsed, Cinerary, Inhumate, Yattering a lot these days. And Quo Vadis (just kidding).
And Psycroptic isn't really BRUTAL death...
And ain't Dying Fetus grind/brutal death/hardcore metal?
And http://www.uniqueleader-europe.com/ looks 10x better than the actual uniqueleader.com........... they should just put it all on one site.

I 100% agree. I also would say the drums sound different too, I'm not sure how to explain, but they just don't sound like what you get from of alot of BDM bands. I don't know who their guitar player is but he's my idol this week. Stellar riffs. I love the opener to Bloody Prolapse.

the bassist in Savior is crazy too, he'll switch back and forth from finger style playing to picking depending on what he wants to do...that was pretty cool to see.

I've just realised that I keep spelling Savior, the English way. Oh well, I'm right in my own little way!
Their guitarists are Shon and, I think, Mike. Fucking brutal players - apparantly Shon was only 17 when he joined the band!

That's impressive. I'm 16 and I can barely get most of their riffs down solid. Hey, could you guys reccommend(sp?)me some Brutal Goregrind? I found Stabwound already, any others?

Okay, brutal goregrind. You won't get goregrind that isn't brutal, so I'm assuming you mean brutal death?

Well, Stabwound don't have any goregrind influences at all. They are straight-up brutal death. Period. I'm actually close friends with the vocalist.
Brutal goregrind is just goregrind. I haven't checked out the links you provided, but I'm willing to bet they are just goregrind bands. You cannot play goregrind, without being "brutal". It is just the way it goes.
Try: Inhume, Last Days of Humanity, Rompeprop, Gut, Cock & Ball Torture, Morbid Savouring.

Would you consider Krisiun to be part of BDM?

I wouldn't, but I'm not an expert on the topic. Krisiun are very good, but they don't seem to fit in with a group that includes bands like Cryptopsy, Suffocation, and Deeds of Flesh. Like I said, I'm far from an expert on the topic, but I'd consider Krisiun to just be plain old death metal, bordering on technical death. They're good stuff, for sure, I'd even say awesome.

Quite right. You seem to have a firm grasp on the concept of "brutal death".

Well Im not completely sure, but I heard this song by the band "Sympathy" the other day. It was the so strangely alien and powerful. Would they be BDM? Not that it would change my view on them, just curious.

dude, the Gutrot drummer left and joined Black Dahlia Murder, how fucking gay?!! Well Soils Of Fate I havent had a chance to check out, but I seen that cd laying around in my little brother's bedroom, Obscene are alrite, Strangulation are really good, but Uffe (formerly Stabwound) had the best range and intensity than all over Swedish band, thats what I meant.
I also dig the whispers in Stabwound's new album, it adds this MOrtal Decay feel but actually gives you the chills. Btw, hows Cranial Devourment goin'? I heard 1 song, that shit is spontaneous as fuck.
