Mics and guitar cabs
I dont get how the mics agains the cab thing works. Do you need special gear(like non-vocal mics or different kinds of cabs)?

I dont know, I have a Shure sm57 mic and when I mic it right up to my cab, it sounds pretty damn bad. They way Im micing it right now is on a counter right to the side of the cab and the height being the top of the cab.

I think you have to hook it up to a PA and a PA cab. I also think you probably need a recording device for it to sound good. B ut I really dont know

he asked about special mics, I think.
and yeah there are directional mics for guitar cabs, just like they got directional drummics.
best mics to hook up cabs are those scandinavian things, Rode or something (with a / through the O)

music stores i'd hope.... a shure sm57 teamed up with a Sennheiser E609 and a direct signal from my jmp-1 speaker emulated outs is what i like for the perfect blend. just experiment with mic placement... moving a mic in any direction even 1" can make a pretty drastic change... which can be good.
