JMP-1 for real cheap, think...
...i should go for it? I mean its like not even 200 $ so i say its cheap and i thought i could use my current amp as a slave amp as it has tubes in the power amp and i'd connect the JMP-1 straight into it, and it would be like all tube. Ive heard great things about it and i like marshall so...
What'ya think, now don't give me the "go try it" shit because i know its the best to do but those of you that have tried it tell me a bit about it.

go try it.
I don't like it much, like any semi-true tube preamp.... but then again you could prolly sell it for the same price or even more.

The jmp-1's are actually excellent preamps......if you know how to tweak them. It would sound alright if you slaved it through your amp but many people who have one recommend a mesa strategy 500 power amp. Another reason many people don't like them though is for the presets. Many of these were made for practice levels because as you turn the volume up, they become more shrill than what you initially heard. If you want some listening resources, just check out some newer iron maiden and some Dragonforce. Dragonforce's guitarist Herman Li uses both the jmp-1 and the stragegy 500 both live and in the studio. In my opinion, $200 for a preamp that usually sells for $300+ used is a steal, plus, if you don't like it in the end, ebay it for more.

i love my jmp-1... it pretty much only does marshall tones... but it covers so much ground with them... with new jj's, a good tube poweramp(also with new jj's.) and some tweaking, lately i've been able to get in the boogie territory with it too... which is like a whole different beast...
i often find it's only as good as the gear you're using it with... like my sonic maximizer, a compressor, graphic eq, ect... all help alot in finding the perfect sound....
it actually has some of the best marshall cleans imo... does high gain stuff pretty fucking well... and it even has speaker emulated outs for retarded soundguys that think vocal mic's sound fine for guitar cabs(the same guys that point the mic's in the center of the speaker like a target too.).....
it's just a great preamp....
for $200 you should buy it at least to resale it for more... i mean, c'mon, common sense... they sell for $350-450 on ebay usually....

well, most mesa's are 6l6's.... 6l6's produce a really huge sound that people love from mesa... i prefer el34's and el84's..... but 6l6's sound fine.
anyways... yeh i think they do have 6l6's.... they might have both 6l6's and el34's.... but i'm not sure... ask mesa... or find one on ebay and check the specs.
