You're not feeling the cold up there? Here in New England it's been terrible the past week. We've been below freezing for a week straight now. Not on average, but overall, we haven't broken 32F/0C. Despite the frigid weather and all-too-stiff sea winds (I live on the coast), we haven't gotten any fucking snow. I mean, we've gotten a little, but it all turns to rain and melts away before I get to have any fun with it.

That being said, up until mid-January this winter has been extended fall. Temps in the high 40's to high 50's all throughout December and early January. I have pictures of a pretty little spider hanging out on a porch in the second week of January. I've never seen spiders on the porch past mid November any other year.

They don't have any sort of field guide for spiders of Massachusetts or New England like they do for all the different groups of vertebrates and insects. We have some for mollusks, too. Spiders get no love, though. If there were one, I'd totally be interested. It'd be nice to know what I'm working with out there in the field as well as around the house. It'd be nice to know which spiders I could be lax in handling and which I'd have to be careful with, seeing as I remove a few from my house every time the weather gets warm.

its rough telling what spider is what unless you are really familiar with them. its too hard for me to say with those pics. would need a nice close up and i guess it would help to get one from straight over the dorsal side. my first thoughts were either just some species of orbweaver, which may be nervous..but shouldn't be dangerous, or a brown window or something like that which could be dangerous.

what ive done here is a sequence of pictures from the east side of my room, to the west side of it. the individual pictures have an obvious distinction, but the overall flow is quite accurate, though it is missing minor portions. i dont know if this has been done 1,000 times over, but i thought it was a pretty cool idea. and then i wonder how effectively i could make it around the whole room!? anyway, here is the sequence:

Maybe you need some sort of tripod or something flat and consistent in height to put the camera on so that you don't have the pictures matchingi by movng up and down. That would definately be the "better" looking one.

One time I was skating at a basketball court in my old suburbia neighbourhood which I and some other skater's turned into a make-shift skate park. I was 14, and at school some girl drew a huge smiley face with red lipstick on my buzzed head. While I was leaving, this guy in his mini-van asked if I was ok and if I needed help to get to a hospital, as he thought I had a massive head wound.
