B Tuning with Floyd Rose

So many people tell me thatyou can't tune down to B and use a Floyd Rose. Even a guitar tech said "Even if you get more springs and heavier gage strings it still won't work." So how the hell does Exhumed, Cannibal Corpse (who play in Bb), Gorgasm,Skinless ect. play in B/Bb and use Floyd Rose? Do I have to get some custom made guitar or something? I really would like your help guys in telling me how I can play in B and use a Floyd Rose.

i think you might have to get the neck extended mate. most guitar shops will do this for you and it will cost about $70 from what i hear (thats about $40 for you) good luck.

Huh? I have my guitar tuned to B and I have a Floyd Rose......it works fine......I use 13-56's. The only thing you gotta do is mess around with the tension but when you get the tension right it should work fine.

Did you need to get more springs put in the back?

OK it CAN be done.
But is there any problems I might run into. Like will the Floyd Rose still catch the stings if they are that low? If there are problems let me know.

Might need a nut shim, and you'll need to raise the hight of the bridge. But other than that their shouldnt be any porblems.

The easiest way to has got to be taking the guitar to a music shop where they have professionals do the job. It's ridiculous to say a certain tuning can't be done, because almost everything can. A pro will know how many springs to use, what string gauge to use, all that kind of stuff. That's what the pros are for, for helping you out. Go talk to one, he'll sort you out.

What about adjusting the trussrod.

I've seen it around some where that adjusting the gauge of ur strings and the tuning means you need to tighten/losen the trussrod?!?!

Loosen the metal thing your springs are attached to. Loosen them evenly... you'll need to mess with it a little bit. GOOD LUCK DUDE

Tuning from B/C to Standard.

Ya i've got a Floyd Rose design to (Charvel ) and like it alot because i think i can tune easier with it but the problem i had was i outfitted it with 13-56s and tuned from B to D for perfect sound (got specifically to play Cradle of Filth ) But the only problem i had was when i tried to tune back to E it would put a shitload of tension on the bridge and would bring it above the guitar lol. So it required alot of tweakage but id say the Floyd has many advantages for me over normal design.

to get a floyd to b you have to lossen your tentioner springs in the back of your gutiar and raise the bridge a hair. you can do this more effitantly with hevier strings, (zakk sig 60-10 or 70-10 suggested) and your tech is a moron.

to get to b you are loosening you strings. by loosening your strings your level will drop because your springs are pulling tight, lossen them to copensate.

Thats true, but if you use heavier gage strings it adds lots of tention. The bigger gage is required to prevent the strings from flopping around with low tunings.

not really, heavier the strings the more they would drop. the heavier strings are to compensate for tone and dirction of octave. you can tune to b with for example "hybrid slinkies" not get it to b cause the string is so thin, you would get the ever popular chug sound before it go there. The thicker dextarity of the 60-10's for example are so thick that you accually get the b octave b fore you run out of string.
