i beg to differ, chevelle is a good band, they arent metal, but the can get into a fucking groove in their songs, and the are well written, and very catchy.
i have been listening to cannibal corpse's the wretched spawn, CoF's nymphetamine, and the cure's new self-titled album

I care. I was completely shattered as a human being when you said that the Penis Boys were imaginery. You shouldn't play with people's emotions like this, it's just too cruel.
Seriously, I like to describe the albums I listen to every now and then to give folk who may not have heard the album an insight into what it's about. It's all part of finding new music - I just wish more people would post more 'mini-reviews' and give the thread more substance.

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
Review:
Math-metal, but catchy as hell!! It has a slight industrial texture and more singing than there previous piece, but still manages to dominate. The songs are just as un-predictable and chaotic, but they touch on some more lighter moments, and write some catchy parts. Imagine a man having a seizure while falling off a mountain, and then going for ice cream immediately after. That's what it sounds like.
*P.S. not a joke, that's what I think it sounds like which means GOOD!!! GREAT!! ONE OF MY FAV ALBUMS!!!!

Once, I had an epileptic fit while climbing Mt. Hood, which naturally caused me to fall off. When I came to, which must have been fairly soon, since the light hadn't changed much, I started walking in the direction I then believed was towards my home, but stopped when I came across one of those slightly remote ice cream shops designed to catch the traffic to and from lakes and mountains on weekends. Since it was a sunday afternoon, it was somewhat crowded, but not so much that I had to wait long to get a double scoop of butter pecan in a waffle cone, which I then sat down and enjoyed. Anyway, there's more to this story, but at this point I'll just say that having a seizure, falling down a mountain, and going out to get ice cream actually sounds like Halls of Amenti. Now, on the other hand, if you'd said it sounded like having a panic attack when Appalachian Mountain Men bind and gag you, tie you in a sack, and throw you into a river, then wriggling out and, after exacting revenge on the mountain men, drinking some hot cocoa in what once was their kitchen, I could only agree.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the Penis Boys are an actual band.

OMG, that is an all time ALL TIME favorite of mine. Completely. Every song on it just flat out rocks hard. For me, the back to back powerhouse of Lucretia and Tornado of Souls is hard to beat. Five Magics is just awesome. There is not a song on it I couldn't listen to every day of my life and never get tired of it. You have impeccable taste man. Sweet.

I've been listening to Acid Bath's "When the Kite string pops" lately. And I just bought:
B.B. King - The Best of...
Emperor - IX Equilibrium
Megadeth - The System has Failed.
And I'm listening to Meshuggah - Nothing.

Dead To Fall - Villany And Virtue
Review:
Definetly Metalcore. The vocals are a semi-low growl for the entire album, the guitars sound loose, the drums driving, and the bass is looming. VERY bassy, and the production is kind of poor, but it's still brutal and good music. Oh, and a good message is put in to the album. It's a concept album based on the idea that you can't be pure good or pure evil. You have to accept both sides.
Rating:
9/10

Black Flag - Everything Went Black
Review:
Pure punk. The songs are short, loud, and fast. Although completely devoid of any insturmental ability that could astound anyone, the emotion can not be ignored. Black Flag are a personal favorite band of mine.
Rating:
10/10 (switching to 10, decided 5 was too small, the higher the number the better the CD)

Karl Sanders - Saurian Meditation
Where to begin with this meisterwerk! As an exercise in sheer ambience and atmosphere, this album is surely unrivalled in any sphere of music that you care to mention. Coupled on the album is a seething Egyptian eeriness with a sombre feel that adds a different dimention and Sanders's wonderful mastery of traditional Egyptian instrumentation - particularly the baglama saz - adds marvelously to proceedings.
The techniques employed genuinely give an insight into the raw emotions involved. For instance, a cobra about to strike it's prey is brilliantly brought to life by some furious razquedo guitar work. The album is also quite innovative by way of one track being entirely composed of manipulations of vocalist Mike Breazeale's voice, except for the obvious tribal drums in the background.
To sum up: if you are even only mildly intrigued by the interludes found on Nile albums then the chances are that you'll like this album. The songs are more fleshed out and serve greater purpose than to merely act as a prelude to the oncoming storm. Highly recommended to music lovers with expanded horizons.

I only shortened the quote due to the length.
This is actually the first time ive ever read anything about this Karl Sanders. I never looked at the thread about him a while back. You make it sound brilliant. Makes me want to buy it. Ill probably get it soon. so thanks for the tip ahead of time.

I agree, I have the album on my computer but i cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know where is a good place to get cds?

Slayer - Divine Intervention
I always took this cd for granted till I actually gave it a full listen. This is my favorite Slayer album now,it might not be as fast as earlier material but the atmosphere it conveys is fucking awesome.

Divine Intevention is one of Slayer's best works. In fact it's my second favourite Slayer album after Reign In Blood and I don't see why it is so underrated.

Regurgitation - "Tales of Necrophilia".
THE most underrated broodle death album. Ever. Breath-taking leads, crushing breakdowns, inhumane vocals -- this folks, has it all. However, good luck finding it. Even to download.
I'm also listening to that first Mithras album.. that I forgot the name of. Haven't picked it up for a year or more now, loving it all over again. Into 'em, John? Brilliant English metal.

Yeah, I like them. Is their first album Forever Advancing Legions or something, Jarrod? I don't own that album but I have Worlds Beyond The Veil. Pretty decent stuff - Leon's drumming is top notch and he has some very atmospheric leads in the mix too.
It's funny you mention Mithras as I was only listening to them myself this week. I hadn't listened to it for a while and I'd been listening to Morbid Angel a lot so I thought I'd give it a whirl again. WBTV is very similar to Gateways-era Morbid Angel only a tad more up tempo so anybody who is a big MA fan would probably like it.

Napalm Death - Leaders Not Followers 2
Can't stop listening to this. I even like it more than Slayer's Undisputed Attitude (It's all covers). They actually cover a song by some band they had a demo of that was never released at all plus some other pretty obscure shit. The only song I had even heard before was the Kreator cover (Oh, and the Hellhammer cover which rules). Track 7 is the shit.
