I want to get a Engl 530 preamp, A Peavey MAX Bass amp, and a Marshall 1960 Cab. Will this work out?

hmmm... well, it might, but it will sound like total ass. Bass amps dont pick up the vital guitar freqencies as well as guitar amps (this seems pretty obvious). Id say just get a peavey classic 50/50 off of ebay for like 200$ and enjoy your all tube setup.

well, nice preamp and cab, but it woulld be cheaper and easier, not to mention better sounding to just buy a good poweramp in place of the bass head.
and +1 on the peavey classic 50/50... i love mine to death and it didn't even cost much...

I like the sound of bass amps. They work to make a guitar sound lower. I dont find them muddy or anything. And I forgot to metion that I have a Mesa 50/50 power amp.

I want a lower sound than normal. All a bass amp does is make a lower sound. I have tried one out. I have even heard some bands do it.

use the engl's eq
with a peavey 50/50 it gets as low as you want.
I dunno, a poweramp just amplified, theres nothing special to most mosfet bass amps, I'de rather get a full tube setup

he has a mesa 50/50, so im really wondering why your questioning this. tuning your guitar lower will make it sound lower because the frequencies are lower, a bass amp just has better low end, but it gets in the way of your bassist giving him less space, and pissing him off. dont do it.

Well, The sound of a bass amp with a guitar amp sounds pretty cool. The tone is more original. But maybe i will just get the 530.

just turn up the lows on the 530... they have plenty.
if you really want more lows and you don't want them to sound like ass. buy a graphic EQ, a sonic maximizer, aural exciter, or parametric eq.... those will all help to get those beefy lows and keep them tight...
a bass amp will just sound sludgey and your highs will get that "ice pick to you ears sound".... your mids wont stick out either... so you wont be able to cut through the mix.
also, if your 50/50 has a resonance control you can just crank it.
but i really don't reccomend using a bass amp.
