well, many purposes....
maybe he just has it as a backup... maybe he's slaving it for more power.
maybe he is aby'ing them.... it depends from person to person. he also has a rack that i'm not sure whats in it.

yeah he has one of the most unknown rack setups! I would kill to know everything he has in that rack

When I saw them last year with tony from Monstrosity, all tony had in his rack was a power conditioner, and a Rat Rack unit running into his marshall head

Maybe he's got different setting on each head, and some sort of a/b-box so he can switch them? Some players are so picky, they need a particular head for a particular sound (for example EVH and his famous 1967 Plexi).

To really know the whole truth, you'd have to ask his tech. Many people have weird setups, stuff that a normal person wouldn't even think of, but these people can make it all work and sound good doing it.

i doubt his rack is that mysterious.... but in those pics i just can't see, one he's in the way and the other it's too dark & blurry. but if i were at that show or had a clearer pic it wouldnt be a problem to see what he's running.

i like to show of my space station ....

it depends.... some people have such simple rack units... like basic preamp + poweramp setup.... others use them for stuff to work around heads... like say eq's effect units... noise reduction units, powerconditioners, ect...

in my rack i have a preamp, a poweramp, sonic maximizer, power condishioner, multi fx unit, and a rack drawer with a couple pedals that are always left on(eq,noise suppressor, compressor).....

sounds great and it does everything i need it to.

I think trey uses a Eventide H3000S harmonizer in his rack, a Proco rack Rat, an Alesis Quadraverb, that's all i can remember picking out from my spot in the crowd. That was a few years ago, he might certainly have different shit now. but he was using those in the Formulas Fatal to the Flesh days. The only pedals i could recognize were MXR flanger and the orange phaser. death metal band stage lighting has room for improvement

eventide stuff is top notch... and i could understand the rack rat because he's using older marshalls....
