Pre- Fender Jackson's
Hi all,
Just joined and can't find any info about this so I'm asking it here. I have two Jackson's that I've recently bought and can't tell by the serial or the jackson website whether they are pre-Fender or not. Here's my info
SL-1 SN# U10216
SL-2H SN# U13585
Can anyone tell from these numbers if they are pre-fender or not?
thanks for any info

Acually Fender has altered the way the Jackson are built, and their is less quality control than thier was before. Still MUCH better quality than many other guitars though. The american and Japan models are still of great quality.

The serial number list on Jackson's website will tell you approx when the axe was made (assuming it's a USA model), and you'll have to do research yourself to find out when it was that Fender bought Jackson and started relaxing quality control or whatever they did. I don't know when that was.
But really, whats the point? I mean, if your guitars play fine, and are no falling apart then I don't see why you need to know if they were built before or during the Fender years...
As for the non-original-pointy headstock designs, well...if you don't like 'em, don't buy a Jackson with that type of headstock! I personally prefer the original headstock too by the way. The ebst headstock design ever put to paper and wood I reckon. At the same time, there's nothing like a bit of variety.
I'm thinking of buying a cheap JS30RR for learning songs on. My guitars are floyd equipped and stay tuned in Eb, because I use them for gigs, but learning songs in other tunings is annoying when the axe isn't in the same tuning (obviously) so I'm thinking this cheap, but cool looking string thru axe with be good for the job. Hell, it'll probably be a killer little axe when it has some good pickups in it, and maybe some decent tuners.

yeah they rock, play like buttah! I'm just curious if they're pre-fender or not. Is that a crime? The serial numbers on the site go like this "2001 Ontario UO8970- ???" so I wanted to know what the cut off date was for Ontario made.
Fender bought them in 02 I believe but I wanted to know when they started putting their 'print' on them.

yep, both used. I didn't get the SL-2, bought a 90 USA Fusion instead, like the neck better. Plus the SL-1 is pretty much the same as the SL-2 (except for the pickup configuration) so I figured why buy another of the same.
