It sounds good and it seems to be free but I bet you have to pay a sign up fee at the site. I can guarantee you'll never see that flat screen TV or whatever he was talking about.

The way they work is like this:

1. You pay a fee to enter the scheme, usually quite a large one at that.
2. Upon payment of the fee, you'll be promised a big return on your initial investment if you get another, for example, 5 people people to sign up to the scheme.
3. The catch is that everybody at your level of the pyramid must get 5 people to sign up for the scheme in order for you to see that return on your investment.

If you do the maths you'll see very quickly that in order to se any sort of return on your investment, you have to have entered the scheme very early. Let's have a look at the first 10 levels of a pyramid scheme that requires you to get 5 people to sign up. The numbers here are the number of people in each level:

1. 1 (5 to the power 1)
2. 5 (5 to the power 2)
3. 25 (5 to the power 3)
4. 125 (You get the pattern...)
5. 625
6. 3'125
7. 15'625
8. 78'125
9. 390'625
10. 1'953'125

As you can see the guy who starts it is guaranteed a profit (or to at least break-even) since he doesn't have to pay an entry fee. The guys in level 2 will more than likely get a profit. Level 3 participants might get a profit but it's looking grim (and necro) for level 4 entrants. If you enter after level 5 you might as well kiss goodbye to your money. For this reason, pyramid schemes are illegal in the UK.

The key words to look out for so that you don't get conned into one of these things is, "Get 5 of your friends to join and you can't fail to make a profit!". You might be able to get 5 friends to sign up for it, but in effect, you'd be ripping them off with the very real possibility that you wont see your money again either. You'll lose friends and money - just don't do it kids.

That's right. They are from California, same place as the almighty Deeds of Flesh. Hence the similar style. It puzzles me how Diego & Ben actually remembers all those riffs. It really does.

I wonder how most bands of that style remember their stuff - I suppose when it's your own creation it's easier, though.

Actually, you'd be surprised by the amount of guys from high-profile bands that run classy labels. It is quite a shock when you find out, because it is a LOT of fucking work.

I can imagine. It comes down to dedication, and guys who play extreme music tend to be fully into the music. It makes you think that if Erik and Jacoby didn't set up Unique Leader, would we be blessed with some of the bands that we listen to now?

Highly unlikely. They would still be around, but the production of their CD's and promotion wouldn't be. In turn, we wouldn't be listening to them.

Sure, a band can get good production without a label, but not without cash. The label provides that. They also fund most of the tours that their bands go on. Psycroptic would have never made it big out of Australia if not for that label.

And in turn I wouldn't have been able to buy their record, such is the cycle of events.

DIMMU BORGIR were promptly escorted from the premises after using profanity during a live radio interview Wednesday afternoon (August 18) for commercial rock radio station WMMS-FM (100.7) in Cleveland. The Norwegian black metal act were in town to promote their appearance on the main stage of Ozzfest at the Blossom Music Center in Cleveland on Thursday, August 19.

The incident in question occurred shortly after the start of the interview with WMMS midday host, Maxwell. While responding to a question from the DJ regarding JUDAS PRIEST vocalist Rob Halford's sexuality, DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz stated that the controversy surrounding Halford's homosexuality is "fucking bullshit" and that it was an honor to play on the same stage as JUDAS PRIEST. Maxwell proceeded to declare the interview over at that moment and cut to a commercial. During the commercial break, Maxwell and station management ordered the band to leave WMMS studios. After coming back from commercial, the DJ insulted DIMMU BORGIR on the air, urging Ozzfest attendees to throw rocks and other items at the stage during their set on the main stage Thursday.

The band is claiming that the boundaries of what they could say on the radio were not explained to them by station management before the interview, and that they had no idea what was considered unsuitable language for American radio. At this time, there is no indication that any action will be taken by WMMS's corporate parent, Clear Channel Communications.

DIMMU BORGIR are currently performing on the main stage of this year's Ozzfest in support of their 2003 release, "Death Cult Armageddon", which has sold over 65,000 copies in the U.S. to date.
