Yeah, I know alot of people who have problems because of military. My best friend's dad was never the same after he killed someone in the Gulf War. He was in the navy, and he was on watch or something, and some Iraqi ran up onto the boat and my friend's dad shot him in the head. The guy fell off the Aircraft Carrier.
Never the same. His parents go divorced. His dad died because his heart gave out. All the drug abuse and booze killed him (which was a result of the above...)

Lol Im talking to Ryan Parry on aim right now. He knows nothing about guitars. I asked him if his guitar was neck thru, set neck or bolt on and he didnt know what I was talking about. I was explaining to him the benifits of neck thru guitars. I said that the sustain is better and he didnt know what that was. God, hes an idiot...

best place i figure id get this read, other than the guitar forum, which its in as well.
Today it hit me, most of you guys on this site have stated that metal is not about looks. Well, from my understanding, you seem to judge black metal ONLY by its looks. I've yet to see a constructive critical comment about black metal other than the usual bullshit about how most of its creators choose to dress. I for one, am not the type to use corpse paint and all that other bullshit, which will hopefully count in the end, but all of you bullshitters try to say how looks don't matter, but when it comes to black metal its all you can bitch about. Like for example, that thread that was in the chit chat a while back ... "what you do to look metal". Yeah, that, most of you claimed that looks don't matter. Oh, but black metal looks do matter, fuck you. Its really ironic how you talk so much shit about a style of music, A style of METAL no doubt, based simply on its look! I do agree with you though, I'm just in it for the music, you've gotta listen with your ears, not your eyes. I still can't get myself to come close to liking bands like burzum and mayhem, but the symphonic and melodic black metal catches my ear. |

I was really into corpsepaint bullshit some time ago, but then I realised that I can't wear that. I have absolutely no shame when it comes to being embarrased about wearing something stupid, but corpsepaint wouldn't be me. I don't dress black metal and I get called a poser on a regular basis when I go out wearing just a band shirt and regular pants. My BF got called a poser for having short hair. I mean, WTF?

id personally never wear paint. and i dress in jeans and a shirt, all the time, and i probably will for the rest of my life. being called a poser for short hair is just plain crap. I hope not too many more people are that stupid out there... I know theres plenty more. |

I saw the oldest punk I've ever seen today. He was in his late 20's to early 30's it looked like. To me, looking punk is the most ridiculous trend, a tad worse than goth. Tight pants, jean jacket cut off at the sleeves, and a bunch of little spikes through it, with a bunch of patches sewn on.
I see metal as the look-like-whatever-the-hell-you-want kind of genre. Maybe a band shirt, just to show that you are metal, but what the fuck is a poser for metal?

We have South Park, but I only watched some of the first series so I don't recall that particular episode.
About the black metal discussion: I don't dislike most BM because of the way they dress (although some of them do look ridiculous), I dislike BM because it's basically punk with blast-beats and screeches. My brother really likes BM and that's how he describes it in it's simplest terms.
I also don't like the fact that BM bands want bad production so as to appear more underground: they don't care for the listeners experience so long as they appear as raw as possible. There are exceptions, of course - I really like Emperor, for example, but these notable exceptions are rare.

I like symphonic and melodic a lot more than the "plain" BM, but I like the rawness as long as it doesn't go too far and it's not deliberate.
