Expanding my head's sound

Alright so I have a question here for you half-stack experienced bastards.

my amp has only one distortion channel (and a clean), it was modded (new JJ tubes and towards a Mesa Recto sound). So now it gives a really good death/grind/doom (and crunch) tone that is totally crushing my ears.

now my 'problem' is that I like to play heavy/black metal from time to time.

my amp is really sounding 'dry' and 'hard' at the moment (even with gain at 8-9) so that's excellent for death but not at all for fuzzy black or greasy heavy metal.

I am getting a new guitar with a Dimarzio Superdistortion so the pickups might help.. but I need more gain (or whatever I need) for a rather gain-loaded/greasy distorion (you know what I mean)... it doesn't have to be extreme, just a good distortion for that music.

I won't have it modded because I def. wanna keep my current sound too.

So my Q:is it possible to use a singe distortion (or overdrive?) pedal for shitloads of gain?

I didn't ask the expert at the shop, didn't get there yet; thanks!

a graphic eq or boost pedal could work to fuzzy up your dist. probably cheaper than another mod and you can turn it on and off.

Well the modding is for free, so don't have to worry about that.

what was modded, I have no idea... Well he turned it from a crappy nu-metal sound into something crushingly deep and brutal. Maybe you can guess?

I already have a EQ pedal but that is just able to lift up all the 'bass' in the sound. Need more fuzziness/gain.

But I will try and record some samples today or tomorrow or something.

Wtf @ blackdimmu, I got three mails in my mailbox with all of your replies on several threads and it is shit in every one of them so stfu.

I already have to EQ, read better.

@xdisclexics: you will see I will have my new guitar within 2 weeks (with a way better pickup) so I will record then. might be a way better sound.
