Well, several changes have happend with Morbid Angel recently.

1) They are looking for a new label and are no longer with Earache

2) Steve Tucker has left the band.

3) Dave Vincent will be doing the South America shows on the Heretic Tour.

I would definately like to see Vincent back in there. His vocals were
perfect for the music. To bad they don't come to Canada! Is anyone
going to the shows in September? Get a bootleg of the performance. Vincent
singing some of the new songs may add something more to the songs that
he wasn't part of.

Tucker was fine, but Vincent is the man. At least he was on Blessed Are the Sick, one of the best death metal albums EVER. I love the way he utilizes TWO different vocal styles throughout the album-

1. Angry, raspy vox ("Brainstorm", "Thy Kingdom Come", "Rebel Lands", etc.)
2. Deep, throaty vox ("Fall From Grace", "Day of Suffering", "Unholy Blasphemies", etc.)

Anybody else notice that? Nobody ever mentioned it before.

Well, I looked for a similar thread before I made this new one. I would've remembered if I would have seen it on the site. As you can see BLS, others needed to know and had to be informed.

What I get from the website is that Vincent is doing just the touring. I don't read that it says that he will be part of the band after the tour is over.

well, i dont think try would be writing the drum riffs, i think what they mean by "Person X wrote this song" is that they wrote the main riffs and the other people wrote their parts around it, so all the drums and bass would have been written by the members respectively, to fit around the main riffs that had been written by trey

I read an interview with Trey and he was saying Morbid Angel is HIS band he would be doing it with or without Steve or Pete, he also said that he loves the shit out of his band but he'll only do it as long as he wants. He also said he did lay down the drum tracks with a drum machine then gave it to Pete so he could give it a 'human' feel, and Tucker wrote damn near all the lyrics for the F, G, and H albums, so Trey dosen't do EVERYTHING. But can you blame him for acting this way look how many times they have changed line-ups since the begining, he's been the only one there since the begining so it really is his band.

Lagos also revealed that, "For the promotion of 'Heretic', Grinder did an interview with Sandoval where he admitted that for that record the choice for singer was Vincent, but his long delay on the answer pissed them and forced them to take Tucker. Then Vincent told the guys he was ready to go, but it was too late and they continued with Tucker."

its nice that dave is back, but Trey lost influence in making heavy music.. Most of his new material is mostly thrash influenced than death metal, and I doubt they are ever going to make a good album in the future, but I may be wrong.

I'd say it was the reverse, Bones. Early MA sounds a lot closer to thrash than to what many would consider death metal in today's climes. Latter day MA is a lot more technical and the riffs aren't so much influenced by thrash as they once were.

MA just performed here in Mexico(Monterrey) 2 weeks ago, i have seen MA 3 times with Tucker but this time with Vincent was real different concert...all i can say is...Vincent Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say that M A, Trey respectively, developed their (his) very own style which can an should not be categorized. I read an interview with Trey lately where he stated that he listens to Pink Floyd and R 'n B! He also said that he considers himself the biggest fan of his own music.
I think that this man is really dedicated in developing his very own style: just listen to his incredible solos.
Nevertheless I have to admit that Altars e. g. sounded a lot more dirty and, if you will thrashy, than most of their other albums. But this is mostly due to the recording and the (in)ability of them guys back in 1988. Blessed however has a much more jazz-like tune to it; very vivid and playful. Nowadays you can in fact find similarities to blues-like rhythms especially on the slower numbers on FFttF.
Even comparisons to classical music could be made!
But I cannot find a lot of thrash or death metal essentials in their music . I am, however, against this whole categoy-bullshit anyway.
