Cannibal Corpse
Okay...this is a stupid poll so don't take it too seriously...
What do you think the closest thing to "mainstream" CC has ever done?

And CC after The Bleeding is all trendy and shit in itself.

Wow, your being WAY to analytical about this. Jim Carey asks your band to be in one of his movies and you wouldn't do it? The names of some songs arn't as obsence as others and they are going mainstream? Fuck man, calm down. It's not like they added a DJ, are sporting Hurley, have backup dancers and fireworks at their shows. I hate this kind of thing, if a band attempts to do anything different/experiment (which CC will never do along with most metal bands for fear of accusations like these) or take an opportunity to get alittle extra cash they get bashed upside the head as sellouts/corparets/mainstream/ect.. Must be hard to be a "famous underground metalband".

Thats why I didn't vote. I don't find any of them "mainstream."
Until they make an album called "Iowa," its not trendy or mainstream.

I don't think CC have done anything overtly mainstream throughout their career so I shall abstain from voting.

I wasn't pissed off or anything for the Ace Ventura appearance or anything like that...I was just thinking of a stupid poll...I really don't think any thing of those things are mainstream or selling out. I wasn't accusing them of anything. Vile and The Bleeding feature some of my favorite CC songs ever and I've sat through televised versions of Ace Ventura just to see the CC parts. I just thought it would be interesting to see what people would think...hope this clears the issue up.
And besides if you read the initial post you would have seen the phrase "don't take it too seriously" and the word "mainstream" in quotations.

What? I know that its from "The Great Southern Trendkill," but you said 'the trend is dead' or something along those lines.' And seeing how your screen name is TRENDKILL, I made a joke about it.
God some people are stupid.

They were in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, not to be confused with When Nature calls. Earlier in the movie when he goes to some bar they are playing as he walks through. Its only like 30 seconds.

The three most mainstream things Cannibal Corpse ever did were the following-
1. Get rid of Chris Barnes
2. Improve their technical proficiency in ALL facets of their music, while become slightly less creative with their song titles (how many more could they possibly think of when all they do is gore?)
3. Sell more albums than any other death metal band.
Apparently these three things are too damn mainstream for all those super cool cats that only listen to the very most underground bands. You can't be good if more than 37 people have heard of you.
Either that, or you can't be good after you get rid of a singer who provides nothing but boring, monotonous growls and horribly retarded lyrics- and then have the nerve to REPLACE him with a singer who, even though has a FAR better range, speed, and overall ability, doesn't write his own lyrics (even though all of CC's lyrics suck and always have) so therefore can't be worth his weight in dog shit.
Either that, or you can't be good if you change your writing from playing 5 riff simple thrash-like songs to progressively becoming very technically sound. After all, we ALL know how much better songs like "Put Them to Death" and "A Skull Full of Maggots" were than stupid, shitty technical songs like "From Skin to Liquid" and "Frantic Disembowlment". DAMN THOSE STUPID TECHNICAL SONGS! CC are such sell outs for daring to change their music, for the better no less. Everybody should hate them. And if you believe that, pigs fly out of my ass a quarter to every hour, and go kill yourself.

haha nice. I'll have to agree with that underground shit. That is pretty fucking lame after a while. Shit if they get popular underground be happy for fucking once instead of being a stupid fucking loser. Even if they are popular underground doesn't mean they are mainstream shit...

i disagree entirely. mainsteam means the music is made for the purpose of being popular, or that it is the main focus of the general media. i would call Opeth popluar on any day of the week. i dont know very many metal fans that dislike Opeth... would you call them mainstream? i think not

I just think that their music sounded much better back when Barnes was around.
Thats not to say that its more skilled, or anything. Technical is not always better. Case in point: Decapitated's newest album. *snore*

Opeth is mainstream in the metal scene, and I stick by my statement, but I do agree that music that is made/intended to be popular does suck, and I believe almost all mainstream music these days suck.

new singer
I think cannibal corpse sucks now that Barnes left, their music changed when he left, i personally think Eaten Babk to Life and Butchered at Birth were their best albums. I like Chris Barnes voice better anyway. It's sad that I have to rely on six feet under for his voice and brutal lyrics, I think SFU kicks ass and all, but both bands are completely different.

Their music was changing while he was still there. The Bleeding sounds nothing like Eaten Back to Life. They didn't change their music all of a sudden when he left. As a matter of fact, it's the other way around, they kicked him out because his vox didn't fit the stuff they were writing for "Created to Kill", which is now known as Vile. There are demo tracks for that album available online, if you hear them, Barnes sounds like absolute shit. He sounds even worse in SFU, although in all fairness to Barnes, NOBODY would sound good in SFU's downtuned, nu-metal, power chord fest.
