start w/Martyr (they are from Montreal) as their vocals aren't too harsh compared to all the other bands I just listed. Actually the bands i listed might be a little too advanced as they are really tough to take in if your just starting out in metal.

hmm...Lamb of God, Death, Pantera, Martyr, Opeth, Crowbar...look into those bands first, then check out the other bands when you think you can handle it.

Cannibal Corpse is what is wrong with Death Metal today. They should've called it quits after Barnes left for Six Feet Blunder.

And even though I like Deicide, they are mediocre compared to that other death metal that is out there. And the rap comment? That just means someone is open minded to other types of music other than Death Metal. If you can't enjoy a vast array of music, you shouldn't be a musician, because you limit yourself to one type of music.

Do yourself a favor, and listen to something OTHER than Death and Gore Metal.

iv heard megadeth, i own rust in peace... hanger 18 isnt anything special. the beginning sounds like some james bond shit, and though thier is alot of soloing its nothing that spectacular. there music is very strait forward, not as "musical" and intricate as metallica. morbid angel... again nothing special, no redeeming qualities.

to every one else thinking i controdict my self my liking cob but not the vocals.. if you would read my first post i said i didnt like those kinds of vocals, but if the guitar, and every thing else is great, i can realy like it (like COB) so thank for all the sugestions... i have a big list that im going to check out... Gilmours singing is better. But He's lacking compared to roger. Look at the albums he's done after the final cut. The division bell had some mild moments (though high hopes fucking rules), and momentary lapse...lacking.
Roger had the ideas (and the ego ). His concepts made floyd. (Well syd was floyd.) And they were together for WYWH.
You can't really compare WYWH to the wall or darkside. The "shines" are awesome songs, as well as wywh. But welcome to the machine and have a cigar or only predeem mediocre. The wall has so many great songs. Another brick, goodbye blue sky, hey you, is there anybody out there, comfortably numb, etc.

Now my advice to you is:

1.) Stop asking others to make suggestions. Experiment with music, and find good music yourself. Everyone here did it for themselves, I'm sure. You can too.
2.) Stop telling US to get a life when you say that Morbid Angel is "nothing special." For a douche of a comment as that, I can only assume that you've only heard their new material. Open yourself up, or you'll never progress in music.
3.) If you don't like what I say, or have said, you don't have to post here. Do us all that favor. I'm sure there is a mediocre nu-metal band someone out there. Wait. You already listen to Metallica. Enough said.

If vocals are the most important part of music to you, give up on metal. It's not for you. If you really think that Morbid Angel's guitar work doesn't make up for anything you might find wrong with Vincent's vox, then fuck you. I personally like his vox, but even if it sucked I would still listen because Trey is fucking genius. They could have one of the Spice Girls do vox and they would still rule. If you really don't like Megadeth, you have either heard the wrong album, or you don't know shit about guitar. Ditto for Morbid Angel.

If you have different reasons for not liking them, my apologies. If you think they are not excellent guitarists, then go fuck yourself.

any ways i would have gotten sugestions from my friends(like most of you probably did), but none of them are that into metal so i figured this was the easyest way.

If I were you I would definately check out Pink floyd. They've got a wide variety of music. The older stuff is more "psychedelic rock" similiar to older jeff. airplane. Experimental. Unless you're into that, I'd stick with dark side, the wall, meddle, Wish you were here and Animals.
If you'd like to here the older tunes I'd recommend A saucer full of secrets and Umma Gumma. Piper at the gates of dawn Is the one with Syd, so it's a bit strange but i like it.
