on a side note, it depends on what you want the drum machine for, if you are just fooling around at home you could always program a drum machine on your PC, as there are many different drum machine software things out there, if you need it for live you can extract the programed drum machine off your PC and burn the tracks to a CD, then plug a CD player into an amp of some variety
but im just sugesting an alternative

good alternatives... the only problem is with live drum machine... you have to be EXACTLY on time or it will sound like oil filled ass...

i prefer samplers and sequencers... more flexibility and options... over all better sound... but if you have no knowledge of drums, or don't know how to program beats... just buy a drum machine with a bunch of beats and timbres already programed in it.

Cool,
I just need it to use at home to jam with.
I don't have a computer at home to program shit or whatever.
The Alesis SR-16 will probably be the best thing for me then.
I had one ten years ago...I was trying to decide if I should look for one of the Boss Dr. Rhythm 440s or 550s instead?
I've made my decision...thanks

I use Fruity Loops too and have taken my favorite drummers set and put it on there. You can get it off SoulSeek or Kazaa too.
