Wilkinson Trem in a Strat
Hi guys....a nice green newbie here. I was reading a bunch of posts here and everyone here seems to be much more knowledgeable about equipment and gear than the other forum I'm on, so I thought I would come on over!
Anyway...maybe y'all can help me out....I'm stripping down an old strat copy guitar I got for like $80 a few years ago, and I'm gonna replace all the parts and make it manly indeed (or as least, as manly as I can).... so I want to replace the icky strat-six-little-screws-into-the-body trem that's on there with something much more manly and buff...but I am a bit timid to route, given I am grossly inexperienced. I read on Stewart-McDonald that a Wilkinson trem can be installed into a Strat guitar without modifying the instrument, but the two bolts that the fulcrum from the bridge pivots on are obviously too large for any hole that's in my guitar already, so I'm wondering if maybe their statement was inaccurate, or maybe I'm just......not very smart, which is equally as probable. ....anyway.....if anyone has any light they could help me shed on this, I would be much obliged! keep rockin' guys!
