I agree, it was possibly Alonso's worst game for us up to now. To be fair I thought the only midfielders to get any joy were Makalele, Biscan and Cole. Gerrard and Lampard cancelled each other out and were largely ineffective, particularly Gerrard as he was awful. Carragher (who grew up a bluenose, remember) shows more passion and commitment to Liverpool than Gerrard, the boyhood fan. Strange that, isn't it? Gerrard could do worse than take a long, hard look at Carragher's attitude.

Chelsea vs. Liverpool was such a boring match. Hope the match in Liverpool will be better.

That's odd, based on my first half viewing...i thought that was makélélé's worst game to date. Granted he took the ball easily enough, but when it came to doing anything with it...i can't even comment he was that ambysmal in the first half. Tiago & Gudjohnsen were the best players for chelsea in the first half, i would of brought off Drogba for Robben, placed Gudjohnsen upfront and Robben on the left. The kind of performance Tiago gave in the first half leaves me wondering why he has been on the bench for the latter half of the season, he and Cole linked up well at some points....well, when Cole wasn't being a ball greedy, "I can do this by myself", type of player he used to be at West Ham.
I wasn't totally impressed by Mourinho's attitude, (don't panic, we don't have to win), going into the game either, Liverpool aren't the premiership team they've been this season when they've played in the champions league.
I think Gerrard feels he has too much to do when it comes to playing, it's abit egotistical to a point...especially when you consider the type of players who should be pulling their weight more, Baros comes to mind...aswell as Luis Garcia at times. But yeah, you are right about his attitude most of the time.
But you do have to consider he is that good a player, and players of his calibre need to win things...otherwise, they feel, what's the point? I think he has to brush off last season and the start of this and look toward what he is doing now, and the competition he is in, cos there is that chance Everton will finish fourth....and liverpool walk away with a eufa cup place next year, and I don't think Liverpool want to be seen as a uefa cup team again.

1) Davids did not travel with inter during the champions league knockout stage. Instead inter sent him back to holland where it is rumoured that he will play next year (Ajax). This rumour has merit and probably will happen. Interesting to note that Newcastle might be selling kluivert back to ajax. This one I'm not so sure about
2) Van Bommel is for sure going to leave at the end of season, vogel probably will not leave.
3) PSV have made something like 20 million euros just on champions league this year. They are loaded for a small buget team. I don't see them signing Robinho just because Real will out bid them. Lastly, what's the chance that Ajax will sell their best player (VDV) to their main rivials PSV? I say the same chance United have to sign Gerrard.

Kluivert back to Ajax AND Davids back to Ajax, how cool would that be
Van Der Vaart is going away from Ajax, that's allready as good as certain,Ajax and PSV aren't 'the' rivals, that's Feyenoord and Ajax, I don't see why it couldn't happen to be honest!
VDV hasn't been all that great this year, Ajax's best players at the moment are probably Boukarhi, Maduro and Babel. VDV is solid but he hasn't proved himself in the Dutch national team either (he's been on the bench because of his attitude, that's the story)
It would be a weird transfer but there's not other team in Holland that can afford the guy and he's surely not going to Feyenoord or AZ. Vogel is said to go to Lazio Roma for 2 years, they're in the final stages but it's not confirmed yet.
PSV can't afford to buy Robinho on their own but they might have Chelsea backing them again, that's how they got Alex too (chelsea invested in him and 'stored' him at PSV, after 2 years they get the first chance to buy him, transfer free)
Ofcourse, PSV on it's own can't outbid Real but if Chelsea moves in and makes a deal with PSV again, who knows. PSV has a lot of brasilians and it's a great learning ground, Robinho is still young, going to Real might not be the best carreer move at this stage (though, I guess you're right, it will probably happen...)

Manure was decent, I saw a small part of that game. I also saw Kezman was interviewed today, there's quite a chance that he's leaving England, right?

We were in a gay bar in Blackpool watching the Liverpool game on the Scandinavian channel. Cracking goal, but we should have won.
I think Kezman is pretty certain to leave, possibly back to PSV. He's not done much this year and doesn't even look as good as Drogba, who is absolutely shit.

congrats Liverpool! I was hoping for them to win
I'de love to see them play against PSV but I think they don't have much of a chance against AC in the return. they could have done better in Milan if they didn't have so many injuries. unfortunatly they have two more now (Beasley too)
But... Robert might be back so they will have a decent striker, he's the man to watch!

That's if it was a goal.
But that doesn't matter, whether it crossed the line or not...if it wasn't even needed to be cleared from the line.....Cech would've been off. Penalty, probable goal. That's probably why the Chelsea players didn't complain, the ref played the Liverpool advantage and their keeper ws kept on the pitch.
What's a bitch is, my mom & sister are going to Turkey around the time of the final to visit my Dad. Fuckin' fear of flying.

PSV - AC Milan 3-1
fucking whores!
AC Milan didn't deserved to win at all, there was only one team that played football and that was PSV, AC Milan = anti-football.
90+1 minute was the countergoal by Milan, lucky fucking bastards.
damn dissapointing, though it's good to see PSV outclassed AC Milan by a long shot, it's pretty sad that the CL away goal rule fucked them up. Sad. but ah well, I guess AC will win the CL in the end, though I hope they get their italian prick asses kicked by Liverpool.
AC Milan needs one good chance to score and that's their specialty, they don't play beautifull soccer, they just lure for the counter and score. It's totally gay but it makes them win. It's the italian way I guess. PSV played great and probably surprised everyone but this was just way unjust if you look at the overall view over two matches. But PSV doesn't score every chance they get and against Milan thats what breaks you up.

Only one team deserves to be in that final, I guess being the underdogs is going to favour Liverpool...aswell as 20,000 (probably plus) fans being there.
But PSV didn't deserve that at the end, fuckin' gutted for them.

yup... it's pretty sad. they played so much better then Milan, they should have made a goal in Milan, they had 6 good chances and none went in. Them having no good striker available fucked them up, I'm pretty sure they'll have one for next season, I hope someone with experience, lol, let them buy RVN

Nah, I'd say Milan deserve to be there as well!
I'm ecstatic that the goal Garcia scored was a bit dodgy because after the terrible refereeing decisions that Liverpool have been on the end of against Chelsea this season we deserve one to go our way at last.
COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS!!!!

Based on what I saw last night, Liverpool can easily walk all over Milan...and although the following statement would usually be considered reasons for a lynchin' to half of liverpool, I do actually hope Liverpool win.
[edit]
Take that back, Liverpool can easily score....and defend solidly for a majority of the game.

It's worked well so far. I think if we press Milan early on we can score a couple like we did against Juve. The first 20 minutes are crucial as that will be where our game plan for the rest of the game will be formulated.
2-1 Liverpool!

I'd say 2-0 Liverpool, if Milan do get a goal I can see it being either a fuckin' immense wonder goal that put's Gerrards & Rooneys to shame, or absolute scrap. I really can't see Liverpool loosing their heads in that type of game....
[edit]
on another note, I still say Palace to stay up.

I hope Liverpool whips AC.
I don't think AC deserved to be in the final if you look at the overall game view over two matches, definetly not. Though they made their chances count, anti-football won another time, which is sad.
tonight it's AZ playing, I don't think they have much of a chance with half the team injured (even though they played 2-1 in the out-game)

Damn, yesterday was a frightning day for AC Milan, PSV played their LIFE GAME, and played very well, don't giving any chances for the Rossoneri, but Unfortunately for the PSV fans, and AC Milan Happyness ( ) Alex wans't there when Ambrosini was, heading the Ball and leading Milan to Istambul, we have a great chance to Win Uefa Again, we just have to play the way we're used to, Shevchenko opening the score and defense doing their Job back there...
Okay, just for the people who don't know what happened Yesterday, PSV deserved a better result, just check the Players individual score for the game, (according to Goal.com):
Milan:
1 Dida Goalkeeper 6
2 Cafu Defender 5,5
13 Alessandro Nesta Defender 5,5
31 Jaap Stam Defender 5,5
3 Paolo Maldini Defender 5,5
8 Gennaro Ivan Gattuso Midfielder 5,5
21 Andrea Pirlo Midfielder 5
23 Massimo Ambrosini Midfielder 6
20 Clarence Seedorf Midfielder 5
22 Kakŕ Midfielder 6,5
7 Andriy Shevchenko Forward 5
PSV
1 Gomes Goalkeeper 6
16 Theo Lucius Defender 6,5
4 Alex Defender 7
5 Wilfred Bouma Defender 6,5
3 Young-Pyo Lee Defender 7,5
6 Mark Van Bommel Midfielder 7
14 Johann Vogel Midfielder 6,5
8 Philip John Cocu Midfielder 7,5
7 Ji-Sung Park Forward 7
9 Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink Forward 6,5
17 Jefferson Farfán Forward 6,5

that's something completely different, English teams allways play an entertaining match, that's why I allways prefer English teams as opposition against a Dutch team, it's guaranteed to be a great match if there's something at stake.

Haha Def, you were quite angry back there! But yeah, I understand how you feel about divers. I don't see how they can call themselves men when they fall to the ground like fairies evertime an opposing player has the audacity to step within five yards of them. These players wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes back in the 60s and 70s when there were REAL hardmen playing the game.
I tell ya, Tommy Smith (legendary Liverpool centre half) would kick them so far up into the air they wouldn't want to come back down again for the inevitable seconds that he would administer five minutes later. Unfortuantely FIFA have given too much protection to forwards and defenders can't afford - to paraphrase an old English football saying - "to let strikers know that they're there" anymore.

yeah, it's lame how these teams are allways portugese, italian or spanish.
see teams from holland, england, germany, denmark, you name it, they all play a 'harder' game, they don't drop on their ass and don't start bitching and moaning if they get a little push!
the dutch where gutted though, twice. It's said in the media, we've gotten rid of our penalty syndrome, now we've got the extra-time syndrome.... (PSV - AC, last 2 goals in extra time, AZ - sporting, last goal in extra time..)

If he gets a majority of pens from them, then they can't be that bad....
Michael Owen's dive in the last world cup against Argentina is one of the worst i've ever ever seen.

As long as he ruins Man Utd, I couln't give two shits about him.
I'd prefer to know an american's view of him though, just to work out what he is going to do to English football.

no way.
it's probably going to be a shitty match with Milan winning it 1-0 by Shevchenko with a header from a corner.
Or, it's gonna turn out 2-1, with Baros opening the score in the first half. I don't think there will be a lot of goals.

I hope it will be an exciting game. But I really don't care who will win the cl.
Both teams reached the final and so both have deserved it. So the better ( or more lucky ) team will win the cup tonight.

I have never posted in this thread so figured I would only to say...
I LOVE the thug factor in sports and enjoy the insanity I see from fans at live games.....
Humans at their worst...amuses me in an odd way.
I have a video of a soccer game where people are actually throwing firebombs on the field....a goalie gets hit with one....
Fucking Crazy!!

haha, humans at their worst or best is more how you could put it. some people totally flip out and become damn happy and excited about soccer, man I remember when Holland played those games for the EC, I had a great time!
that soccer game with the firebombs, maybe that was ac-milan vs. inter milan haha, that was pretty bad. Hooligans are the discrase of soccer if you ask me...

I bet you guys know these teams....made a few screen caps from the video....it's very odd seeing a soccer field on fire.
What confuses me is....why dont the 99% that arent throwing these stopping those few that do???
Enjoy...

yup that's AC vs. Inter, that's Dida that got hit with fireworks.
that shit came outta the hooligan corner of the inter fans, or so I've heard. I don't think you've ever seen a soccer hooligan up close, the ones I know are all twice as big as me and bold. not the kinda people you wanna argue with.

that was the cheekiest free kick i've seen since Argentina v England in '98
[edit]
Before I woke up this morning, I had a dream about Jamie Carragher & Gerrard walking off a pitch with very dejected looks upon their faces....then I watched Invader Zim, then I had chicken and mayo....now I have beer.

HAHAHA, Liverpool is playing absolutely desperate, they can't leave Kaká playing like that, 2 assists, 2 gols. (counting the offside Sheva goal).

HAHA what a game!
AC fucked themselves over, glorious!!!
congrats you reds, you fought and won!!! Dudek was beeing a total retard, but it helped
I'm glad AC milan lost, they didn't deserve to be in that final anyways, even though they played a great match at first, they fucked themselves over, thank god!

Oh my GAWD!!! that was one of the greatest matches I've ever watched. I came home from school right after Smicer scored his goal, and then Alonso makes a PK coupla minutes later. Dudek was fucking amazing in the last parts of the game.

haha yeah, that was one of the greatest matches I've seen.
And Dudek ruled after the first half, that was his tactic to confuse milan and it worked.
Congratulations to Liverpool

that was the most fucked up match ever, fuckin cheated shit, Milan just gave the game, anyone that judge "smart", can see that Sheva and Pirlo missed the shit proposional, not to mention that they just "watch" Liverpool playing in the second half. Bah, fuck that!

That was the most lucid display from either top team I've seen in all my 15 years of watching football. Rafa had his defensive tacticts in extra time down to a fuckin' tee...and he(and stevie G)is the only reason I am appluading this result.....they fuckin' deserve it. NO ONE CAN DENY THAT.

RAAARARAAARRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a night! I didn't get home from the pub until 8am on Thursday morning. Good job I booked the day off work! Then I went to see the boys bring home the bacon later that day - it was one of the best experiences of my life and I still can't believe it.
EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!!!
I can't wait to see Robbie Fowler hold up five fingers to the Stretford End next season!

Tonight is the DFB Pokal Final between Bayern Munich and Schalke 04.
I bet (just with a few schoolmates, I can win 15 € ) Schalke wins it with 3:2 after 90 minutes.
Schalke had beaten the bayern twice in this season with 1:0.

haha, yes, that's true!
PSV won the Amstel cup yesterday (the Dutch FA Cup!)
with 4-0... damn. so PSV's got the 'Double' this year and played great in europe. Van Bommel is off to Barcelona and Vogel off to AC Milan. I heard PSV is buying Vayrinnen and they allready got Affelay. (who's also on the dutch national team -20)
Next year it's going to be PSV, AZ and Ajax. Feyenoord is still in the shit and they just kicked out their coach. Ajax is going straight back to the top, can't wait for them to get back in shape (but things are looking up for them)

Wow, that sounds so cool actually coming from an English guy rather than seeing some Liverpool fans on Skysports on tv. I saw the game, but was outta town starting on Thurs. for like 4 days, so kinda missed any news on whatever happened afterwards.

Haha, cool!
I had 17 heart attacks during the game it was that exciting! It's so much better when you have a team to support and will to victory. So are you going to be a Liverpool fan then?
"When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone"
That song sends shivers down my spine.

The season's over now, yeah, but during next season there will be the world club championship that will comprise this season's champions of Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, etc.
Of course there is the World Cup that countries compete for which is being held in Germany next year. You probably know about the World Cup already because America staged it back in 1994 (if you remember, Brazil beat Italy on a penalty shootout with Roberto Baggio missing the crucial kick for Italy).

Hey there's something I don't understand, what do they mean when they say that Liverpool should be able to defend their European title next season in UEFA? I thought the Reds already qualified for UEFA and shit.

Nope, they finished 5th in the League. Only the top four in England qualify....
[edit]
But this has happened before with Real Madrid, they finished outside the qualifying positions but in the same season won the ECC, yet they were still allowed into the competition the following season.

...at the expense of Real Zaragoza who finished 4th in La Liga. Madrid took Zaragoza's place in the Champions' League. The English FA had the same dilemma of whether to choose Liverpool (the Champions' League winners) or Everton (4th place in the Premiership - the last qualifying place) and, inexplicably, they chose Everton.
I want Liverpool to be in the Champions' League next season, but even I can see how ridiculous it is of the FA to say that Liverpool should be in the competition next season when they themselves could have made it happen. In typically spineless FA fashion they passed the buck on to UEFA and shirked the big decision to be made.
Having said that, UEFA should never have scrapped its provision for the holders to be automatically entered into the competition the following season. There was never a limit on clubs playing in the European Cup back in the day - when Liverpool won it in 1978 (thanks to King Kenny!), Nottingham Forest won the league and so both clubs entered the competition the following season (Forest subsequently knocked Liverpool out thanks to a 2-0 victory at Anfield following a 0-0 draw at the City Ground. Forest eventually went on to win the competition).
I believe this will all be sorted out on June 17th (or thereabouts).

It'd be dumb not to let the champions defend their title, but it'd be as equally as dumb not to let those who achieved a qualifying place play in the compitition.
Besides, Zaragoza went shit ever since Aragorn(no jokes)left.
