Yeah, that's a pretty good thing about English stadia. We're supposed to be the world's biggest nation of football hooligans but we can't be that bad if we don't need fences at our matches.

I agree, but its mostly the out-of-england games when the english fans misbehave and all run of to the nearest pub and get shitfaced.

theres nothing wrong with running to the nearest pub and getting shitfaced, no sir, there's not, don't get me wrong there, but beeing an agressive prick to other fans and trying to act like a tough-homeboy is just lame.

David Beckham has two fractured ribs that makes it difficult to breath. He cannot play for probably two more weeks

Hey Def I was watching the local football review show here and they said that Van der Vaart has a broken ankle or some shit. Is this true? I've looked all over the internet and I can't find shit anywhere. That would seriously suck for both Ajax and Holland.

I haven't read anything about it yet. if it's true I'll hear it soon enough, but then it must have happened today or it would be in the papers.

It's not too bad for Holland, we've got plenty of men for his position, that can do a great job too, I'm not to worried about it, he's still growing in shape, he's not ready yet IMO. for Ajax, its gonna be a problem thouhg, they need him badly because they've been selling too much talent... I heard they will be letting some new young kids play in ajax A1 after the winter stop, must be a kickass yought acedemy.

What does everyone think about tomorrows games?

Played some Pro line today, here are my picks

LVP @ DEP - Draw
MON @ OLY - MON by 1
MAD @ KIEV - MAD by 1
BAY @ RMA - BAY by 1
JUV @ MUN - JUV by 1
AJAX @ MACC - AJAX by 1
MAN U @ PRAG - Draw

I bet 2 bucks this ticket wins $800

I agree with most there, but I think Man U will win and Juve will lose.

PSV won yesterday, after 10 minutes it was 1-0 for the Eindhovenaren. man, they should have won with 6-0, they where all over Rosenborg but they didn't really play with passion after the first goal. loads of near misses though, but a boring game...

Anyone of you saw the game Bremen : Anderlecht (5:1) ?
It was a really amazing game of Bremen and a really bad game of Anderlecht.
And anyone saw the punch of Adriano with both fists ? damn such moves haven't lost anything in a football match and that's right before the game ended. A bit stupid. But it was grind of him.

haha ajax was hilarious, they played like they do in our competition now, they totally sucked, Koeman can kiss his ass goodbye now. suits him well for selling ibrahimovic.

PSV will be national champs, they're way ahead of Ajax. Hell even Utrecht won from Ajax.

That was the worst excuse for a football game. Jesus christ I picked Ajax because I thought they could get the job done on all 3 of my tickets. Fucking waste of money.

you haven't seen them in the competition the last two months right? they're horrible, Koeman is going to be fired for sure. he made a mess of the team.

AZ won today from Auxerre with 2-0 lol, AZ started out as a low class team and with their (good) coach they're now running with the top teams and they're doing great in europe. Can't say the same about feyenoord or ajax. FC Utrecht was pretty shit too, but I figured they where going to be, they sold half of their team dammit.

There's no team doing really well right now, except for PSV and AZ, the rest is in the shitters, all sold way too many talented players to other countries so they need some time to get the new team running decently. Though Ajax was far worse, its more then just missing some key players, they just plain out sucked lately.

When I saw the highlights of the PSV game they looked like by far the best team. Ajax will never again get my bet. What makes me even more upset, one of my tickets was a winner except for the Ajax game. Fucking damn it.

Ruud finished right on target again with 4 goals.....Best finisher LOL

yeah, Ruud doesn't need a lot of chances to make a goal, which is a good striker capability and reminds me of van Basten himself. (Marco Goalo)

PSV plays solid, but they have Bouma, Van Bommel, Cocu, all internationals and they all play for the national team too, though they're from the old 'garde' they're still solid, thats why PSV is doing well even without a decent striker. Their game is pretty boring though, I have to say.

Liverpool played excellently against Deportivo on Wednesday - one of our best away games under Benitez. To say we could have won 3 or 4-0 is an understatement and we did it without the injured Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso in midfield! I was very disappointed in Depor, but not as disappointed as I was with Ajax - they really should beat teams like Maccabi.

Arsenal. Oh wait...

I'm thinking Barcelona. I hope Owen scores though - it'd go a long way to endearing himself to the Real fans. He's scored 6 goals in his last 8 games for them and the fans still don't want him in the team. Also remember that he hasn't played a full game for Real yet so those 8 games are probably worth about 45-60 minutes per game.

Champions League - Chelsea. i mean, it has Mourinho.

UEFA Cup - i'm going for my homies, Sport Lisboa Benfica.

national league - either Benfica or FC Porto, although Porto without Deco is much weaker.

Porto was weak anyways with Deco, who I think is way overrated. But then again I'm not too huge on Portuguese or Brazilian players or styles of play. I need control!!!!!!!!! I love you 4-4-2. lol.

As for Chelsea winning Champions league.... One injury to any of their key players would be a major blow to the title shot as they have little depth.
But I still think they are going to have problems against Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus, Man U, or Barcelona. For some reason I just think scoring goals against those teams will be very difficult for Chelsea... Although Robbin has been playing exellent football lately. National team starter for sure eh Def? Just too bad they got rid of Hasslebaink....

Chelsea can easily beat Arsenal and Man Utd and against the other big European clubs only a lack of experience counts against them. Chelsea don't concede many goals (only 6 in 19 games) so that is an excellent foundation to build on. When the brilliance of Robben and Duff on the flanks are factored in to the equation I feel that they are well armed to mount a serious challenge for both the Champions' League and the Premiership.

Real got truly spanked last night. Barcelona are playing scintilating football at the moment but I have no sympathy for Real; if you drop your most consistent scorer of the past 8 or 9 games and refuse to even acknowledge him then you deserve to lose. Real have had their day, as have a lot of their so called Galacticos - Figo, Beckham and Zidane are all looking back at the best years of their careers and even Ronaldo and Raul aren't the players they used to be. Look out for Chelsea and Arsenal in Europe and never discount the Old Lady of Italian football.

not really but he did play this weeks game and scored once and had two assist (easy 3-0 win putting us on top of the poule!)

Robben plays great for chelsea, or so I've heard. a guy from my class went to see chelsea a couple of weeks ago. he had places at the line and he took a cool pic of Robben who came in the last 20 minutes or so and ran circles round the defence

Robben is still groing but he's doing fine. PSV is the best club in Holland at the moment and AZ are doing just as good which is weird. they're a middleclass club and they're beating ajax, feyenoord and utrecht. They do have Danny Landzaat in their team and a great coach.

Landzaat is someone you will see in our national team every now and then, but he hasn't really convinced Van Basten yet.
I wonder when Van Basten will give Kluivert a call.

Yeah, they're going through a bit of a dip in form of late against the lower teams. Chelsea are in pole position at the moment and look very impressive now that Robben is back from injury.

I just feel that they really haven't proven themselves yet against any big name teams. December 12 is the date everyone should mark down on the calender because thats the day that the Premiership I think will be decided. Arsenal - Chelsea which is an away match for Chelsea at Highbury. If they can beat Arsenal I'll give it to them. (Thats right a Man U fan just said that his club will not win)

But Arsenal are having their problems with injuries right now but nonetheless, wed against PSV will be a good match.

True, he was injured too, so he won't play next match (didn't play last match either) but he will be up in shape soon.

Kluivert, hell, I think he will be the final surprise of the lineup, like in 2006 or something. I can't imagine him not participating. BUT, in Euro2004 he didn't play either, so who knows. It's kind of a waste of talent though but apperently van Basten thinks he has better strikers. RVN and Kluivert should play together with Robben and Kuyt in front, but well that might never happen.

I'd rather see Mr. Kluivert start and bring on Roy Maakay as a sub, but what do I know....I'm not Van Basten. FUCK.

Its such a shame though having that talent not even touch the pitch...

Man Utd should win.

Ajax - Juve too tonight, but with ajax beeing in crap shape lately...

don't know about it. they have been doing better the last two weeks, out of the blues. so they might be able to pull of a surprise (they have a 17 yrs old striker who scored this weekend, lol. new talent from the ajax yought acedemy, who knows he'll save their asses)

Yeah, maybe United will get a penalty and he can score from that!

Liverpool, despite poor recent form, to win in Monaco tonight. You heard it here first, folks. Also, United to beat Lyon by 2 clear goals. I think Arsenal might struggle at PSV if they play like in recent weeks but Chelsea will walk their game against Porto (I think, I'm not sure though - it could be PSG).

PSV has been BORING lately, they play like most spanish teams, which is lame.

They haven't lost anything lately though! Arsenal should win on class and on entertaining soccer.

Monaco, don't know about them but then again, haven't seen Liverpool much lately so that could go either way.

We have Steven Gerrard returning to full fitness so he should play some part in the match tonight. Unfortunately, Baros and Cisse are injured which leaves Kewell and Luis Garcia as our only fit, experienced strikers and even then they are both more suited to midfield roles. Despite this, I think the influence of Gerrard will spur us to victory. Hopefully!

Arsenal have played badly of late so if PSV keep a clean sheet then they have an excellent chance of beating them.

A Spot kick is one that I'm sure all Liverpool fans would have wanted last week against Middlesbrough. HAHAHA

And yes Ruud the man came through in the clutch again. 36 goals in something like 39 games, fuck me. We just need Rooney to start hitting the net.

Nah, just a decapitated ref! Actually after last night's shambles, make that two. That little cheating bastard, Saviola! The referee was 10 fucking yards away and said it was ball to hand - can you fucking believe that? The cheating little scumbag moved his arm to control the ball.

Anyway, Liverpool are fucked now. We need to beat Olympiakos by 2 clear goals in order to definitely qualify. Two goals? Fuck, we couldn't even buy a goal with our striker injury crisis. Garcia pulled up with a hamstring injury last night to add to Cisse and Baros. We have had no luck at all this season, none at all.

ehm, PSV wins its poule! 1-1 against arsenal which was pretty sad. they played like ass and still tied. the ref sent out two arsenal players though, I don't know what Viera did for his first yellow card, but the second one was justified..

anyways, good for PSV, a guy in the crowd had the sign 'Amsterdam are you watching?'

haha!

I think Arsenal have to win their last game to go through. It looks like my initial prediction of the Champions' League winners is going to be proved wrong!

Australia:

Australian Rules Football is called Football or Footy.
European Football is called Soccer.
American Football is called Grid Iron or NFL.

Rugby is called Rugby, and it's quite different to Grid Iron.
Grid Iron= Ball thrown forwards
Rugby= Ball thrown backwards, then run forwards.

Because I've only just got back from the pub! It was indeed a fantastic result, especially considering the injury problems we have at the moment. Gerrard was awesome in only his second full game back after 2 months out injured - he completely ran the game and dominated Vieira. A well deserved victory - Arsenal had one attempt on goal and scored from it.

I just saw the replay of that game on Tv. That last minute strike was brillant, where was Mellor last week when you needed him eh? Perfect bend on it, tucked it right inside the sticks damnnnnnn.....Anfield went nuts!.

He's still a first division player at best though, although he did take his goal well and probably deserves a chance to at least attempt to change my opinion of him. Fair play to him, he keeps trying and trying but I don't think that endeavour alone is enough to become a Premiership class striker.

Well I think thats where the problem lies right there. I don't think he should be playing supporting striker/attacking mid because he just doesn't have the ball handling skills. Maybe stick him way up front a la RVN style because it sure looks like if you give him service he'll make ya pay for it. Also another thing, when is Baros due back? it's really important because I'm placing a bet for the Carling cup game this week and it's come down to the Liverpool game. I need to know what to expect. help please...

Sorry I've not been around to help you out with that bet! Liverpool won on penalties so please tell me you didn't put the bet on. Most bookmakers will have the game down as a draw because it was 0-0 at full time. We played practically our youth team aagainst a full strength Spurs side and still managed to win. I think Benitez was expecting us to get beat! Spurs are crap. Take it from me, never bet on them to win!

Baros is in light training at the moment and is way ahead of schedule. He's hoping to play against Olympiakos next Wednesday but a more realistic target will be the Everton game the Saturday after.

According to GOAL.com, Valencia is the #1 ranked team in the world! fucked if I know how that works but i'll go with it... go Los Ches, things are starting to look better, but most of our first team is injured.

You take him near an aeroplane and there'll be two puddles on the floor: him after melting and the piss he took out of sheer fear just before melting.

I can't see Ajax winning anything in the state they've been playing lately. PSV however, I think they'll move up for a while. they're basically allready national champs too. only AZ is a treath to them.

I guess I should have known about PSV, but they where allready through so didn't bother to put up the good players...

surprised by Ajax tonight, 2-1 for a long time and some weak as subtitutions resulting in 2-2, but at least they're not out of europe yet. Ajax sucks right now though, it's pretty sad, but they'll be up there in the future with all their young talent shining through!

As soon as the knockout stage groups I'll post'em to let you guys stew over the next set of picks. But I suggest for the new year we set up some sort of system for the english premiership or all agree on one league (Def I dunno how much you watch the premiership so I'm down for any of the major leagues in Europe German, Dutch, Italy and Spain). Maybe we can join a web service or something like that. Just an idea to toss out there......a metaltabs league lol.
