Angry man u

well I'm certainly not impressed by the lackluster performance by man u. A draw against Middlesbrough is not good enough.

It's good enough for Liverpool - if we win our game in hand we'll go above Man Utd on goal difference!

Utrecht is doing well

my club is 3th in the national league now and we allready whooped ajax and feyenoord's butt! and we're doing well in europe too now

Ajax was shit in the cl, but I knew they where gonna be after selling ibrahimovic, its the only decent striker they had, fools! the others are just too unexperienced for international soccer, the oldest guy in the team is 24. Ajax has a reallllly young team, but I guess its all for the best, as long as they can hold on to some of the really good ones, Sneyder and Van Der Vaart have great futures ahead of them. Sneyder might be the next Johan 'El Salvatore' Cruyff

Ajax have always had a young team. When they won the European Cup in the mid-90s ('95 I think) there was only Danny Blind who was older than 22! Ah, they were a great side... Seedorf... Kluivert... The de Boer Twins... Van der Sar... Davids... Kanu... Bergkamp...

they won about everything in those days... like they did with Cruyff as coach (hell, he won everything as both a player AND as a coach)

I remember the Ajax - Porto match exactly lol. good shit.

Cruyff is a legend - quite possibly the greatest European footballer to ever have lived. Not a bad coach either

Yup, a legend, thats him allright, he's a cool fellow too..

when our national hero André Hazes died, he was there at the ceremony in the Amsterdam Arena, drinking an Heineken in his name. that was the country's folk singer, he wrote the national soccer team song thing and a load of other legendary songs, the guy was allways drunk and looked like one of those fat fucks from the trailer park, but everybody loved him, Cruyff's speach was legendary.

anyways, John, you know more about soccer then most of us here, and you sure know more then me, at world cup 2006, I'de like to visit one of the games in germany, if you could ferry over to holland, I'de be willing to drive us there with a couple of mates of mine who want to see some games too. I'm pretty sure we can get tickets for some qualifying games, and while you're at it we could watch a dutch game in the local pub here too and then you'll see how everybody goes apeshit here when the national team plays!

well it's in 2006! so start saving up.

I think tickets are like 100 usd max, and the ferry isnt that expensive... you could do an easy jet flight too and take a train from schiphol (or I could pick you up)

the thing is though, you'de prolly need to save around 300 bucks for beer if you're staying here for 2/3 days

I'll be in Holland for 2006 too, I'm driving to the matches with my family and shit so we could met up or something. I'll be the one dressed in orange with the Van Nistelrooij jesery and my face painted orange.

If I go I really hope Kluivert plays along with Ruud. He looks to be back on track with Newcastle scoring two goals last match. Van Basten seriously needs to consider him for the team, even if he is just a sub.

Change that to 'many' and we've got a deal! Football and beer: you can't go wrong with that combination.

Yeah, yeah, rub it in! Benitez will get it right. Yeah, Benitez will get it right. Benitez will definitely get it right. Wont he? Hahaha!

The weekend games were very interesting indeed, particularly Italy getting beat by Slovenia and Portugal only drawing 2-2 with Liechtenstein when they were winning 2-0 at half time. I feel sorry for anybody who placed bets on Portugal at 66-1 ON.

England played well for a change, although Wales weren't anything to write home about. We played three up front (Owen, Defoe and Rooney) and we looked a far more effective attacking force. Just think that we'll have Steven Gerrard to further bolster the three-man midfield as soon as he's recovered from his broken foot.

Things look much better for England now - we are in command of the group and should finish top of it barring any dreadful runs of form. Remember we've played our two main rivals (Austria and Poland) away from home already so it shouldn't be a major challenge from here on in.

hell portugal was a wrong bet.

Holland played 2-2, giving away a lead twice, but I didn't watch the game because van Basten allready said he was going to try some new players, and the one he selected where not the best choices IMO, plus we have a lot of international players not coming to some of the games because they have to play for their own clubs... I heard the atmosphere was crap over there.... racist fans or something from the other country, but I don't know the full story.
As for our group, well I have no idea, but we beat the Czechs so we're not down low, we haven't lost a single game since van basten is our coach, though that doesnt tell us much, he's still messing around with the players a LOT. I hope he gets a system in the team when we play against Finland or one of the next other matches, because I'de like to see us kick ass again like against the czechs, but hell, he needs to experiment, at the moment, Dirk Kuyt is doing really well. and Castelen should be shot lol, he sucked hard, just like Sneyder but he's been out of shape for the past months.

I'm just waiting for the day they get V. Nistelrooy up there with Kluivert and van der Vaart as a shadow-striker. that'de be the day (and believe me, they're gonna call upon Kluivert just before the important games start, I believe he's doing well for his new team?)

Yeah, he's scored a few goals for Newcastle despite not being a regular. He should play up front with Bellamy (for Newcastle, I mean) because Shearer is too old. I still maintain that one of the best ever striking performances that I have ever witnessed was when Kluivert helped Barcelona beat Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield. He was fucking awesome.

2-2 is a disappointing result away to Macedonia and it's always sad to hear of the despicable behaviour of fans in that part of the world. How long must we have to wait before FIFA or UEFA take some action? Millwall fans have just been stabbed and black players racially abused in Hungary (at Ferencvaros). What do UEFA do? A paltry fine.

I know I keep going on about it, but things need to change if we are to truly erradicate this sort of behaviour from the terraces, starting with banning persistently offending teams from European competition. UEFA knows who they are and yet do nothing - maybe if the offending fans were English they'd have done something by now.

Indeed. because the english are allways in the news for violence. not thats its fair but eh....

I heard a story about Macedonia that everytime a black dutch player got the ball he got whistled at. plus people in the public where throwing bottles at our keeper and shit, that's just rediculous isn't it??

Over here they'de get their asses kicked... we have militairy police at games, if theres any trouble they get their ass beat up and are deported out of the stadium!

The Macedonian police were probably joining in with the racist chants, it wouldn't surprise me. To be honest, it's easy enough to stop racist chants being made: force offending teams to play behind closed doors and only allow visiting fans to get tickets. Maybe this will be better than banning countries because if we banned all the countries that have used rascist chanting then the European qualifying pool would be very small indeed.

The beautiful game, ruined by ugly fans.

hah I'm just back from the pub (closing in on 1.00 at night here)

we started off crap, everybody was doing absolutely nothing, but then the Finns made 1-0 and we though we'de play some soccer for 3 minutes.

and bang, 2 goals in 3 minutes.

anyways, the second half was just as boring except the finns where tired and we where getting started, 3-1 by van nistelrooy, nice finish this time.

Boring game, we played crappy because nobody saw a challenge in the whole game, but I can't really blame them. Romeo Castelen should be taken off and Sneyder should make his chances count, out of 6 dead give-aways he only made 1 goal.
Van the Man only needed 2 chances and made two goals, Makaay was dangerous too for the ten minutes that he played, haha.

I heard Kluivert is coming back though, that'de spice things up a bit. I hope we get a decent right-flanker too, because Castelen was shit, I'de rather see van der Meyde there or Robben.

Nice, but I'de put Bouma instead of Cocu (he's had his days man...)

and someone else for Seedorf maybe V. Bommel... you got Davids on the right spot though, he was left defender tonight hahaha. talk about experimenting.

for substitutes, van Hooijdonk and Robben. maybe Makaay against Germany, haha they're terrified of him!

I put Cocu there to make some runs down the wing, plus I think that he has an exellent first pass. A fine wine, gets better with age!!!!

You not a big fan of Seedorf? I think he is an exellent player.

Nah, Seedorf, I think he's horrible, he's allways fucking up when things get important, we've got better players for his position at this moment. But maybe Seedorf can shape up, he's not been in the selection for a while though.

Cocu, well him and Sneyder made the first goal which was bloody marvellous, but Cocu messed up a lot of passes and is a shitty defender, he was only in because Boularhouz was suspended.

Only problem I see now is the yought, I don't know if the team is ready yet, in two years, sure. but it's kinda going fast now.

Ok so maybe drop Seedorf, he did make Pele's 125 greatest football players still living. Then again so did Mia Hamm. LOL.

Cocu used to be a Mid fielder if I'm not mistaken so I can understand the defensive collapse. I dunno where I would fit him in, but playing him in the 4 defenders is a risk, but its one I would be willing to take. I just don't think he can fit into the already full midfield.

And on one last note, I'm sick of this no Kluivert business, the man is perhaps one of the best strikers in the world and Van Basten refuses to put him in the line up? Bullshit, fucking put your god damn differences aside and at least have him on the bench or something. I need a world cup victory, and for damn sure Makaay, van Nistlerooij , and Kluivert would strike fear into any and I mean ANY defence. Just imagine that, Brazil who?? Thats right ORANJE for WORLD CUP

Yes, for the national team, together with some other players like de Boer (he was golden in his last match) and Bergkamp a while back.

Black Star, Kluivert will be back, its just a matter of 'when' I think he's going to be the big surprise thing he's keeping secret, must be..

England played shit this week, or was that just me john? (whats up with all decent countries allways playing like ass the first bunch of qualifiers?)

I dunno man, we might be a bit tired, but I'm gonna say 2 - 0 united, Saha is coming back and he is fresh legs so beware of the frenchman. Van the man is kinda on a roll of late, and Smith didn't play that much for England. Paul Scholes is also making his return. Sir Alex said he wants to use four strikers!!! FOUR! thats nuts if you ask me, I'm looking forward to it though.
Starting line up:

G. Neville - Ferdinand - Heinze -Silvestre

-Scholes - Keane - Giggs-

Smith - Rooney - Van Nistelrooy - Saha

Now I don't expect them just to stack 4 forwards, that would be a waste, I do however expect V. Nistlerooy to be slightly ahead of Rooney and Saha, and I suppose Smith would play the role of attacking midfield (he has good pace and would be used similar to Van der Vaart - kinda like a shadow attacker), which would leave the gate open of Ronaldo to come in later in the game.
Subs:
Ronaldo
G. Neville ----->Please trade him away!!!!!!
Bellion
Djemba
Kleberson

Sorry for the long post, this is what you get for getting me to talk about football. UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is perhaps the best goal of all time. The fact that he guided it through the defenders legs was so unbelieveable, and then roofing it oh man..... my dad went nuts.

Yeah, Def, England were shit. I missed the first half because I couldn't get out of work early but I made it home just as the second half was kicking off. I might as well have stayed in work! It's always difficult going to the Russian republics but we should have won more comfortably.

Liverpool won away to Fulham today. We were getting beat 2-0 at half time but Benitez brought Xabi Alonso on for the second half and he inspired us to score four goals! I don't understand how we can be utter shite in the first half but then turn in a brilliant performance in the second. I guess it's the sort of inconsistancy borne out of a new boss trying to apply his ideas to the side.

Anyway, we are now just a point behind Man Utd with a game in hand but we are 12 points behind Arsenal already. I just can't see anybody in England who can rival Arsenal in this years Premiership - they're so far ahead of everybody in terms of class it's frightening.

Heh, guess England was kinda like holland at the first game against a russian republic kinda team. (all other matches before where great, last one with 3-1 wasnt bad but we needed 0-1 to shake everyone awake... thats how boring it was haha)

about new coaches and doing shit, its the same with van basten, he does what he wants and leaves everybody guessing about the lineup, even the players don't know themselves before the game!
and he's getting critique too but he's well armed against it, haha, he's fucking cool in the media, I hope he gets some results, he'de be the next Cruyff as in winning loads of shit as soccer player AND coach!

Arsenal is scary in england... V Nistelrooy has been doing great too hasn't he? and how's van persie?

Van Nistelrooy hasn't done that much this season. Van Persie hasn't played much for Arsenal but he's made a couple of substitute appearances and has generally looked quite good. I think Robben will be good for Chelsea when he's fit - he looked an excellent player in the summer for Holland.

yeah, he did great over here, I wonder what he'll do when he's on top of his game.

van Nistelrooy was ace in the national team, scoring two goals out of two chances...

what the hell are you doing up man? hah, I got my wisdom-teeth removed and can't sleep.. the lady is on my bed sleeping but I couldn't catch my sleep man.. didn't have the feel to go out either, my head hurts like shit, so I just raided my booze supply to numb the pain, those painkillers don't do shit.

In all fairness

Van Nistlerooy just hasn't done much for Man U in league play. He has been exellent in Champions league and for Holland so far this year. Give him time.

Yeah, it's kind of late for me and I'm actually quite tired. I guess that I'm still a little pumped up after Liverpool's fine comeback today!

I've never had a problem with my wisdom teeth but I know people who've had them removed - not very pleasant by all accounts. However, as with many of life's ills, alcohol is the great healer!

I had two removed at once on both sides (on the right side the upper one and on the left side below. I just had two). But it wasn't that bad. I just needed one of those damn hard painkillers. But, yeah, the work wonders!!!!

BTW Schalke 04 won against Bayern Munich 1:0. Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuck those bavarian asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man U draw

Man U played to a scoreless draw. Showed no intensity whatsoever, hopefully that means they are saving it all for Sunday.....

Yeah, FUCK. I just found out before

Damn we really need Ayala . If only he didn't play in the Olympics.

Ranieri is a good coach, but I think its because of him (and Ayala's injury) that our defense has gone from probably 2nd best in the world (behind Milan) last year to some unorganised heap of shit that keeps conceding goals.

Rafa Benitez, you are a trecherous (sp?) fuck but please come back. Ranieri is not the right coach for this team, he is too attack-minded, and that is not where Valencia's strength lies.

Yeah, Sheva is prob my favourite too, followed by Ruud.

The best finisher that I have ever seen was Ian Rush. He's Liverpool's all-time top goalscorer and he was absolutely lethal in front of goal. Better than Ruud and Shevchenko combined.

The next best that I've ever seen is Alan Shearer. When he was in his pomp during the mid-to-late 90s he was unstoppable and only Robbie Fowler can come close in comaprison. Robbie Fowler was my God when I was a teenager - it's a shame his career has been ruined by injury and 'other' matters.

I started supporting them when I was like 7 or somthing. Then I knew NOTHING about football and my uncle told me to support them. So I just did, the first year I couldn't even remember the name of the team But it's also a nice plus that Eiður is playing with them. My favourite player was always and will always be Zola thoug.

Sorry, I ment best finisher playing today

Best all time? I dunno about that one, we need a poll LOL. I dunno, way too many players to list and to put them in order is almost impossible. You would need some kind of formula to plug in stats or something lol.
My personal favourite even though he was before my time: Johann Cruyff exellent pace, deadly finishing touch, all around threat. Go to http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/p/index.html they have lots of videos of older stuff, they even have the greatest goals ever in international play so take a look!!

I think he's a great coach. His ideas seem to be bedding in already and I can see that the team is moving forward. At home, we are playing some really exciting football. Away from Anfield, we are a little more frustrating, but I put this down to a manger who is still trying to form the team in his image. Once the team has been playing together for another 3 to 4 months the results will be more evident and I'm sure the good times will roll next season.

You mustn't have heard about the rule - non-Man Utd supporters have two favourite terms: the club that they have supported all their life being the primary team while the secondary team is always the team playing Man Utd. This is often referred to as the 'anyone but Man Utd' rule. Hehehe!

Black Star: The best finisher playing today would have to be a straight fight between Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry, Robbie Fowler and Alan Shearer. Fowler and Shearer both have their best days behind them but they were both awesome finishers none-the-less. I'd say Fowler was the most instinctive finisher out of all of them. Alas, the lad faded and he plays like a pudding now.

Ruud and Thierry are at the peak of their powers at the moment but right now at this exact moment, Henry has the edge. I would have said Van nistelrooy but he doesn't seem to be scoring so much these days. As a finisher though, he certainly is very good. Of course, considering all-round goalscoring ability, Henry is head and shoulders above anybody else playing in the world right now. Even Shevchenko, Marino!

Oh by the way, Owen scored a great goal for Real last night. I'm very pleased for him as he's a great player - he deserves a chance to do well in Spain. People forget that he was the first Englishman to win the European Player Of The Year Award since Kevin Keegan back in the late 70s. Now that he's off the mark I'm sure that he will shine.

psv-ajax = 2 - 0

PSV is the best dutch team at the moment, feyenoord is shit this season and AZ are doingwell. PSV has some great players now, Bouma, Cocu, Farfán, vennegoor of hesseling, park and that Gomes keeper guy is doing really well. Ajax on the other hand sold to much of their yought, again.

Well looks like Ruud won the head to head battle against Henry today. Ya thats right 2 - 0 United. Thank you all for coming out, the streak stops at 49. Victory is that much sweeter when its against Arsenal. HA

Van Nistelrooy was shit, the only time he touched the ball was when he took the penalty (which Rooney dived for, incidentally - Campbell pulled out of the tackle). Henry wasn't much better, but honestly, Van Nistelrooy played better? Your 'avin a larf inchya?

I thought a draw would have been a fair result. United had all the big decisions go their way and when you consider that the referee has officiated at Old Trafford 8 times and awarded EIGHT penalties to United, then it was always going to be impossible for Arsenal to get anything off the ref.

Ferdinand shoud have walked for his professional foul on Ljungberg and Van Nistelrooy should have walked for his disgraceful studs-showing assault on Ashley Cole's knee. Needless to say, free kicks weren't even awarded never mind red cards administered. Any other ground in the country and these players would have been sent off, no question - teams have never got these decisions at Old Trafford. Why? Referees are scared of Ferguson because the FA are gutless when dealing with him.

Man Utd have gone above Liverpool by one point but Liverpool have a game in hand. That means if we win our game in hand we'll go above United and will only be 6 points behind Arsenal. Things are looking up for the Mighty Reds!

Def: I thought Ajax kept hold of a lot of their youngsters? I know that Van Der Vaart is still there but what about the others? I'd love Van Der Vaart to come and play for Liverpool. At the moment we don't need him because we have Luis Garcia to play in that position, but Van Der Vaart is still young so maybe in the future.

Sounds like a lot of excuses coming from a disgruntled Liverpool fan. LOL

"Campbell pulled out of the tackle" ummhumm, after he chopped down Rooney. He had no business sticking his leg in Rooneys path anyways, he was clearly beaten and pulled that stunt, hence the free kick.

The Arsenal defence didn't look too sound from my point of view, and the back 4 of united I thought kept a better shape.

I'm biased I know.

Def: I was so pumped for the Bergkamp, Van Nistlerooy match up, but both of them didn't really play that well. I was disappointed.

PSV - Ajax - Young-Pyo Lee played pretty decent from what I saw.

Not disgruntled per se, after all, Liverpool are closer to Arsenal than they were last weekend. I just hate it when Ferguson will complain til he's blue in the face that, "Arsenal get away with murder" when his own side have been getting away with murder for the past 30 years. Look at the statistics for fouls and bookings this season:

Man Utd

104 fouls
4 bookings

Arsenal

120 fouls
13 bookings

United get a player booked every 26 fouls while Arsenal get a player booked roughly every 9 fouls. From the hard facts, it looks to me like United are the ones getting away with murder. It isn't just Liverpool fans who recognise this: in fact, it's everybody but Man Utd fans who realise it!

This is one of the reasons why, as a club, Manchester United are detested and abhorred by the vast majority of the nation.

They'll still never be as successful as Liverpool

Oh, that reminds me, in the paper today Ferguson was claiming that no other club in England can compare to United in terms of history, heritage and tradition. When he can put FOUR European Cups on the table I might consider him to be talking something other than complete and utter bullshit.

United cannot compare to Livepool in any of the three categories that Ferguson mentioned. He knows it, but the eternal stream of diarrhoeic effluence that emanates from Old Trafford is still forthcoming. This arrogance is just another reason as to why they are so roundly hated.

Rant over!

yeah, but those are actually older players coming from the yought, the new talent has all been sold unfortunately, thats why they bought Rosales now. As for v/d vaart and Sneyder, they've got future but are still young, same goes for heitinga and some others, they lost on expertise from PSV today (cocu, bouma, v. bommel, vennegoor, all oranje players for the national teem..) they just lost on pure experience, Ajax fought well though but them lacking decent strikers just costed them their heads (selling ibrahimovic was stupid.) they're not gonna win this years competition, PSV is! Ajax was close to getting back in the game, sneyder and van der vaart both hit the post... unlucky though, the Ajax keeper had to be substituted after an unlucky injury. Vonk (the replacement) showed his experience from the national team and played a FLAWLESS match. Damn that guy rules, he's like the 3th keeper they have and 34 years old but he has loads of experience and was backup for the national team once, he dares to come out of his goal and outplay attackers and shit, he was awsome today!

Jeez, watched arsenal - man utd. too, but arsenal was much better in the first half IMO, manchester didnt' deserve shit, that portugese ronaldo guy is a fucking wanker!

the ref looked like he was asleep, rediculous...

United pay him to be asleep. Notice how he was asleep when Ljungberg was fouled by the last man and when Van Nistelrooy 'stamped' on Cole, but when Rooney dived he was wide awake and gave the penalty. Strange that...

well van Nistelrooy made a sneaky foul, though I don't know if it was intentional. It must have hurt though... Rooney's dive was a schwalbe.

lol, ronaldo crying was funny, but seriously, he sucks, I think he's overrated.

ronaldo

As a complete football player I too would say that he is very overrated, but the fact is he has perhaps the best ball handling skills out of anyone. Sure, you may not like step overs or think it looks gay but I'm willing to bet if you would ask any defender who he would rather not play against one on one more times then not I'd say Ronaldo. In football the proper way to defend one on one is to keep an arms distance from your opponent and never under any circumstance look at the attacker in the chest, this is the unoffical rule of defending. Now the problem with Ronaldo is that because he does so many crossovers he can effectively 1) shield the ball from the defender 2) Cause confusion with his feet. The most important of the 2 is that he causes confusion because as a defender if you feel uncomfortable or you lose track of what direction the ball is going, you must look up in order to separate the man from the ball. This is the last ditch effort trying just to block his lane but he is so explosive that most times if he gets one step on you and you look at his chest he will just headfake the defender. So not only has he just made you look stupid but next time he is coming down the wing, more often then not the defender will give him even more room and that just spells disaster for both the defender and the keeper.

Sorry for that ramble, but I've been playing Football competitively since I was 5, and now I'm 20 (Durham storm, semi pro in Canada). I just had to rush to his defence because a lot of people are slaging him lately, saying how he isn't a good player blah blah blah. He is young, but he has the skills, give him time to develop all aspects of his game and I bet he will change your mind.

My oh my sorry for wasting your time. lol

Fucking FA

Arsenal being the bunch of babies that they are, can't stop crying about their loss to god's team (Man U). Look whats happened now.....

"Arsene Wenger pledged last night to fight the FA all the way for the right to call Ruud van Nistelrooy a cheat."

"The acceptance of the charge of "serious foul play" was lodged with the FA in time for Tuesday night's match against Crewe to be included in the three match ban.

Van Nistelrooy will now miss the forthcoming Premiership matches against Portsmouth (30 Oct) and Man City (7 Nov)."

Fuck THAT. They even started a fight in the tunnel you could CLEARLY see from the TV angle, yet the ref doesn't even have the balls to say anything.

"Referee Mike Riley, who was trapped in the officials' room, made no mention of the clashes - worse than first thought - in his report to the Football Association yesterday. He missed the extraordinary scemes in which United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was pelted with soup and pizza hurled by Arsenal players as he and his opposite number Arsene Wenger were engaged in a furious row over claims of cheating and diving."

Are Arsenal playing a double standard? I think so.....
"One of the game's top referees has accused Arsene Wenger of "double standards" and "spitting out the dummy" after Arsenal's defeat at Old Trafford. Winter, who sent off Sir Alex Ferguson at Newcastle last season, told Sky Sports News: "We have got double standards in the game now. At the start of their run Arsenal got a point against Portsmouth after one of their players deliberately conned the referee for a penalty. Accept it when it goes in your favour but don't spit the dummy out when a decision goes against you. Had that been at the other end of the field and Arsenal had got a penalty I can guarantee Mr Wenger would say that he had not seen it."

Fuck Arsenal, your beaten accept it.

Arsenal should accept that they were beaten but Man Utd should accept that Van Nistelrooy is a cheat. He is. Wenger will prove it with about 4 hours of Premiership footage. Ferguson can only prove that Arsenal were beaten with 90 minutes of Premiership footage. What does this mean? Fuck all! Why? Because Liverpool are better than both of them!
