hey i was just wondering wat everyone thinks of Sovtek amps, i m not really in the market for an amp but i just want to know a little bit more about them. I've been searchin the web but cant find much information on the amps, the main site itself has nothing on it. So i was just wondering wat you guys think of them?, whether you know a online shop which has information on them/prices and whether anyone knows if they sell them in england/europe?

the MiG 60's and MiG 100's are basically marshall JCM800 copy's,

great amps for their money, I've only heard a MiG 60, but with a good analog pedal the thing really screams like a cranked marshall (they've built it kinda the same way but it does have its own tone somehow.)

they're not expensive either, I've seen a few for sale here, for 400 bucks or so for a used 100w tube top. there must be some info on those amps on the net, but you hardly see them in stores at all...

yeh, the migs are pretty much just jcm800 clones setup to run 6l6's instead of el34's......
good amps for pretty cheap too...
i'd put set it up for el34's if i had one... more breakup, then a simple analog dirtbox to send it over the edge.

if you want a MiG 60, use a RAT distortion pedal, fuck, I've tried a MiG 60 with that pedal and I nearly bought it right there, good shit for a great price.

those proco rats work wonders with medium-lowgain amps.... ever play one on a fender hotrod? omg!

but if you want a mig, you'll have to buy used, as they don't make em anymore.....

I used to have Sovteks in my preamp, i like the Electro Harmonix tubes im using now much better.

Im interested in these amps though, you say the migs are basically JCM 800 copies. How close?? I might pick one up if they go for as cheap as you say

well, they're not an exact copy but they sound like an old jcm800 mixed with a plexi in someways, but a bit darker, just try for yourself if you can find one!

I don't like EH tubes much lol, the sovteks seem to have way more gain (the LPS's) but maybe your sovteks where run out or something ?

pretty similar, but since they run 6l6's, they don't have the zing of el34's... switch em' to el34s and it's even closer.... not exact but very similar.... and like half the price too.
