Gorgasm: former members launch new band
Former GORGASM members Tom Tangalos (guitar) and Russ Powell (bass) have teamed up with ex-FLESHGRIND/GORGASM drummer Derek Hoffman in a brand new band called DEPTHS OF AGONY. The group have written seven songs and are in the process of scheduling studio time to record their debut CD. DEPTHS OF AGONY's sound is said to be similar to that of MORBID ANGEL, HATE ETERNAL, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MONSTROSITY and SUFFOCATION. No further information is currently available.

Who cares. Gorgasm are the most overrated band in metal history.

im not going to get into how good Gorgasm are or aren't, but the concept of them doing a generic DM band is disapointing, we already have enough of that, i would rather they played power metal

Maybe, maybe not. I agree with you on the fact that there are a lot of death metal bands out there, but good death metal bands aren't that common. In fact, most of them aren't worth listening. I found Gorgasm to be quite innovative and worth listening. I'll just wait to hear Depths of Agony before judging it.

I can get into Gorgasm, I find them extremely overrated still though.

Nihilist, i agree...saw them live...every song had the exact same pattern and sound...we left after 4 or 5 songs...i'm asuming the songs were from different albums, but they could have all been from the same one for all know.
dissapointing...in fact that might have been the show where Cephalic was there as well...and playing before Gorgasm, so that was another reason they didn't do anytihng for me.

Oi, don't go too far now! :P
Father Death: That's just it. Alot of the songs sound the same, and they get praised for reasons unbeknownst to me. As SpiritCrusher said, they are innovative.. in SOME aspects. But I stand by my point.

I won't argue about that until death, but seeing a metal band live when you don't know it can be misleading. The first time I saw Pyaemia playing in front of me, I thought it was the most boring band on earth ; after listening to some mp3s, I changed my mind a little bit. Same goes for Gorgasm. Listening to their songs on a cd is different from seeing them live (when it's almost impossible to hear the notes they're playing). The reason why I keep saying they're good is because they're one of the only band, in my opinion, that's able to create good "brutal yet melodic" riffage. Also, their vocals are nicely arranged. And their solos are sick. The only weak point is the drums.
And, Nihilist, I was only joking, Van Diemens land rules. It really does.

Yeah Van Diemens land rules, its full of crazy two headed people
i basically agree with the general theme of thats being said, i find alot of brutal DM hard to get into in a, live setting, or even on the first listen to the CD, it takes a littel whie towarm up to most of it
as for gorgasm specifically i dont see how they are over rated, they aren't rated like disgorge or anything, i just see them as another BDM band, nothing special, nothing new

HAH! Rules for what, Psycroptic?! Speaking of which, I'm seeing a band on Friday with the current touring Psycroptic vocalist, and Chalky (Psycroptic vocals on CD) in the same band. Should be good.
I agree with you there SpiritCrusher, the melodic passages in their songs are quite good. The drumming is way boring. I think their later stuff really sucks, I CAN listen to Bleeding Profusely and Stabwound Intercourse though.

The band is called "Gorverk", is it just a take on some local black metal band here called "Bolverk". I'll see if I can get a CD of theirs, they recorded the other day.

Gorgasm rocks. I have Bleeding Profusely and I just ordered Masicate To Dominate. You know when my friend told me about how melodic they were I was eccpecting a Black Metal type band that sings about Dragons and stuff. But when I heard Morbid Overgrowth and Fisticunt I was blown away. I love how they have three singers (like Nile) and are just so brutal and melodic at the same time. Plus the lyrics are funny as hell.

Yeah, three singers is definitely a plus. The only problem is, Gorgasm is dead.
