Slipknot metal?
I have been thinking a lot lately, would you consider Slipknot metal or nu-metal (I don't consider NM to be metal since it has none of its attributes)? Since they have solos and double bass, would you consider them metal or not?
PS) I don't like them at all, it's just been on my mind.

since when does double bass have to make something metal? look at black fucking sabbath...unless i'm mistaken I believe they used only single bass pedal...if i'm wrong beat me...I wouldn't consider slipknot metal anymore because of that cunt corey who pussified the band by joining stone sour and making his voice extremely feminine (sp?). Anyways the fact that they have a DJ doesn't help and how they somewhat rap doesn't help...bye

oh for crying loud. another slipknot thread 
this has been settled before. repeatedly. slipknot is nu-metal.
i will go over it one more time: having double kick doesnt make you proper metal. as has been said, black sabbath and iron maiden and other bands etc. have single pedals. theyre metal. mudvayne is a top example of a double kick not making them proper metal.
having solos does not make you metal. this is perfectly exampled in that many black metal bands dont have solos. theyre metal. slipknot is not metal.
why bother bitching about nu-metal when there is so much good metal out there that you can spend your time enjoying?
i feel sorry for the poor bloke who has to close this thread, and i think maybe a ban is in order for anybody who starts a slipknot thread.

Call them Nu-Metal all you want, but to be honest, most "nu-metal" bands are only in that genre because 'tr00' and 'kvlt' metal heads don't want them considered metal. I personally think thats bullshit. But I'm only making this exception for Slipknot.
Metal, yes. Fairly good now and then, yes. Anything that should be celebrated? Fuck no. They are good, but to me, they'll never be more than mediocre with the masks, and shit. Thats why I'm not vocal about this in public.

Just because they are metal does not mean they should be discussed here for the following reasons:
1.) The fact that their genre is argued
2.) The fact that you idiots seem to argue over the simplest things
3.) Mediocre, and refer back to the previous 2 points.
4.) Shut the fuck up, I settled this.
I won't get into why they are metal unless some dipshit decides to argue.

i have to agree with dissection on this one, i still don't like them (iowa was the only thing even tolerable from them IMO, which no one gives a fuck about anyway). but minus all the bullshit theatrics and the fact that the actual band is only 5 members (ok do we need a guy that just walk around like an ass on stage and hits a beer keg?) they are pretty different than most of what we've decided was nu metal

Slipknot fucking sucks. Two of those guys accually were in good grindcore bands before they joined Shitspot. Paul was in Anal Blast and Mick was in a reallly fucking cool underground grind band call Knifeslampussy.
If they got a new singing, left the DJs and pointless two drummers behind. Then mabey we might have something.
And Corey once said that Cannibal Corpse was the biggest insperation for Slipknot. George Fisher must be kicking himself now. I mean in the guitar work I hear a little Corpse but for the lyrics and DJs that's another story.
I think Iowa sent them downhill. Their first self titled one was not really too bad. But Iowa and That new bullshit just killed it.
But all in all they fucking suck.
