Pick Help
I was thinking about getting some new pics. Here's some things to be noted:
-I have a 7-string that is used for non-nu-metal purposes.
-I like to do double picking/fast picking a lot.
-I like to do pinched harmonics a lot.
-I palm mute every now and then.
-I use the high and lower strings almost equal, so something good for thin and thick strings.
-I am currently using a small thick pick.
Thanks.

Well its mostly opinion on what you think good picks are but ill tell you what i have had experiance with.
Your gonna wanna go with something thicker for the fast picking you get more control, like around 1.0 or 1.14.
I used to use green .88 tortex but then i moved to 1.0 ultex.
I would recomend somthing along the lines of a thicker tortex or a 1.0 ultex.
Ive heard from people the Jazz 3 picks are nice and have good control since there small but i havnt gotten those results yet i think its just what feels good to you, i cant really control my picking with suck a small pick.
So in my opinion id go with upper mm tortex like purple or somthing, and the 1.0 or 1.14 ultex (which i use)

I use Fender Medium Gel picks or something like that. I'll have to try those dunlop ones though.

I get them for about 20 US Cents because I know the guys at where I take lessons.
From what I've found, the only two picks that have withstood my playing, and numberous trips through the wash, are both Dunlop.
Dunlop 1s, and the Big Stubby 2. Thats all I need.

Picks are the cheapest thing you can buy for a guitar.

I Think it depend what you're playing. With my electric guitar i use dunlop tortex M3
or jazz III , but when i play with my acoustic guitar i use dunlop .73 or .88. Thinner picks just feel better when playing chords.

I got a few of those Dunlop Jazz III and they are pretty nice. The ones I got were a little small but hopefully they have a bigger size cuz I sure as fuck need a bigger one. picks here cost .50, .75 cents US

well i ment just like a bigger top part so i can grip it better...I tend to hold the pick down low already and with that small point its even harder to hold on to.

I use Gibson Heavy rounded triangle. It was the closest I could find to one of Jeff Hannemans I caught at a gig. The fact that they are huge means they slip less, 3 points to wear down, hard so there is quick response.
The only problem is that they are black, and thus impossible to find when you drop the fuckers on the floor.
Oh, and I still pay for plectrums. How else are you supposed to get them? Endorsement? Theft? I'm not gonna get banned from my fav guitar shop over the price of a plectrum... geez
...oh yeah, I try to always use the same type. I used to find that chnaging plecturms randomly would seriously affect my picking, because I wasn't used to how the pick would react. Fast downstrokes and alternate picking would get sloppy becuase the pick wouldn't respond as well or was thicker than I was used to or whatever. I find it helps to have as few variables as possible, so that I have no excuses! with familiar tools (if u like) I know that any shitness is purely down to me and not my equipment, of which I consider my picks to be a valuable and equally important part of as say, my amp, pedals or leads.

Dunlop Tortex .6mm (orange). I heavily prefer the .6mm. I occasionally use 1mm(yellow) and .5mm (red). I swear to god these things don't fucking break. All the other picks I've used break after an hours use.

OH SHIT BETTA WATCH YO BACK FOO, CAUSE I'M AN E-NIGGER CAUSE I REFUSE TO PAY FOR A .15 CENT PICK, yeah that makes me a thug huh that means I've been a thug since I was 5. No I just don't feel guilt for taking .15 cents from a company like Dunlop. BUT OH SHIT I'M A FUCKIN' THUG.

The best response is no response.
PS) Thanx everyone for the help, I think I will try out the Dunlop Jazz III or the Gibson ones. Around here picks are $3-4 a dozen but hell I have enough money to experiment.

yeah my old johnson guitar has a bunch of red/black/whatever color pick I use to play with it. My new one since it is black doesn't show that shit ha. but some reminance of picks still shows up as dust and stuff.
Best thing to do if you don't entirely care about picks is go to a guitar store and buy the 10 packs of fender california picks or whatever. I bought like 100 of them for like 15 bucks or something great stuff cuz I never give a shita bout picks.

Jazz IIIs are great. They're a must-have if you play quickly or pinch. I prefer the black ones, as my fingers get slippery and they're easier to hold onto than the reds. Also, while I don't hear a huge difference, I do think they sound slightly better than the reds.

I got some Jazz IIIs and I am very satisfied with them. Although they are red ones (black ones were sold out) they are stilll good, andI'll buy some black ones eventually. Thanx everyone for your help.
