The Best Video Game
What do you feel is the best video game ever made?
I personally like Final Fantasy 7.

GTA is good but Nihilist is correct, it does not compare with Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy.

My favorite game is Mario 1 and 2 and 3. Tied with all the old Zeldas.
Then I'd have to say...Metroid Prime and the Silent Hill games.
I love most games so I'm not gonna list no mo'.

The Resident Evil and Silent Hill series. And of course the Final Fantasy series.

in consoles i think
NES: Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3
SNES: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles IV: Lost In Time, ISSSD
PlayStation: Soul Calibur I
N64: The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarine of Time, Golden Eye and Perfect Fucking Dark!!!
PlayStation 2: GTA: Vice City
PC: Mafia and Warcraft III Reign in Chaos
XBox: Halo and Halo 2... i hope
GameCube: Viewtiful Joe and Metroid Prime
Arcade: I really like Time Crisis 3 in cooperative mission
And all final fantasy and resident evil series
But the best maybe is perfect dark (N64) because it was too realistic for the epoch, like the shots with the handgun to extremities and the guy walked with a limp, the shots to the head or to the handgun of your enemy, phrases like: "Sun of a bitch", "It´s Mine, the graphics was really good, and the multiplayer mode was amazing and the best, you can put more than 10 simulants plus players, missions where interestings, and has a little comedy touch, when you was in espionage, the guys where playing with guns, or scratching his bolls For The epoch was and is the best, non other one-player game for xbox, playstation 2 or game cube can overcome it... maybe halo but it´s a relase comparing to Perfect Fucking Dark!!!

faxanadu
excite bike
final fantasy 2, 3, 7
shining force 2
chrono trigger
metal gear solid
007 golden eye
zelda
zelda: the supernintendo one
zelda: the ocarina of time
battlefield veitnam
warcraft 2
gta vice city

and area 51 for arcade. When i was in high school, i'd skip all the time and get stoned and play this game. One day I played for 6 hours on one quarter. It just got to the point that I knew where every fucking alien would pop up, all the secrets, and the free lives. Great fucking school years

Hands down, Doom is the king of all video games. It doesn't matter how many times you finish that game, you always go back for more. This is the sign of an all-time classic and is exhibited by so few games of recent years.
I think that the only game that can compare to it in the 'just one more go' stakes is Super Mario Kart on the Super NES. Another classic of days gone by.

Crash Bandicoot?? WTF?
Old NES games are probably the best. I allready listed FF7 as my favorite, but Zelda rocks and so does the first Castlevania.
I have an old Atari 2600 that stil works and Burger Time also kicks ass.

it's a poem by Baudelaire, called 'Spleen'
i found an english translation of it at http://www.fleursdumal.org
it doesn't really keep the dark mood it had in french but it might give you a general idea of the poem:
When the low, heavy sky weighs like a lid
On the groaning spirit, victim of long ennui,
And from the all-encircling horizon
Spreads over us a day gloomier than the night;
When the earth is changed into a humid dungeon,
In which Hope like a bat
Goes beating the walls with her timid wings
And knocking her head against the rotten ceiling;
When the rain stretching out its endless train
Imitates the bars of a vast prison
And a silent horde of loathsome spiders
Comes to spin their webs in the depths of our brains,
All at once the bells leap with rage
And hurl a frightful roar at heaven,
Even as wandering spirits with no country
Burst into a stubborn, whimpering cry.
— And without drums or music, long hearses
Pass by slowly in my soul; Hope, vanquished,
Weeps, and atrocious, despotic Anguish
On my bowed skull plants her black flag.

I'm having trouble downloading a emulator. Whenever I download one, that screen shows up and says"open this with..." and there's a list of programs. If anyone know what to do or if there's a place to download a good emulator, let me know. I've been itching to play Knock Out Kings, Super Metroid, and Chrono Trigger.
Oh, and at cherryroms, they won't allow anyone to download Chrono Trigger because its protected. Is there anywhere else to download it?

You have to drag the .smc file in the game's folder over the emulator, then let go. It should start up. If it still doesnt work i'll send it to you over MSN, if you have MSN.

I need to download a emulator first. What folder do I unzip the file into?

not the one on gamecube though!!!
Then i also liked all Donkey kongs, even the very first one with the climbing. Chrono trigger is great. Arkanoid. All Mario, mostly part 3 and super mario world. Rush 2 (stunt coarse). super contra.
Super nintendo is definately the best with games

We sold our SNES about 4 years ago. How I rue that decision! I think I'll go to one of those retro gaming shops and see if I can pick up a SNES on the cheap.

Those are hard. I think Zombies... is hard. Theres passwords but they are USELESS. Anyone whos tried to beat it would know that in order to make it through the levels later in the game, you must be equipped with tons of weapons. When you turn the game off and come back later with a password you have NOTHING. And the levels you get to with a password dont come close to providing these necessary weapons. still fun though.
morrowind for xbox is good

or you could just get an emulator off the internet, that way you could do it for free
although it wouldn't have that tactile grace of an old SNES

Well, I have more than one favorite. Back on the original Nes, I say my favorite had to be Blaster Master. No save points, game lasted anywhere between 1 1/2 -2 hours long. For Playstation, Castlevania:Symphonies of the Night. For ps2, hmm.. GTA 3 is gotta be one of the most challenging and interesting games for me so far. I do like the new Castlevania as well, but not like Symphonies..

Ultimate Doom
Doom 3
that's about it, I also have Battlefield 1942 that came free with my video card, but I don't like it that much.

Vice city was lame, all the missions suck, and it has very little replay value.
Way over rated. I acually Prefer GTA 2

GTA 2 is a nice game. I do like vice city though, just as much as GTA3. I like 2 becuase its fun. Some people are all hung up on graphics, but for me its just the fun of the game, not how it looks. playstation is an awesome system when considering the games it provides. But i repeat...
Super Nintendo is THE BEST!!!

I picked up a SNES a few years back, $10AU with ten games and two controllers. Best buy of my life.
It lasted exactly ten days, then stopped working for some reason, probably because my shit of a brother kept smacking the controls on the console whenever he died
The best game we had was an ancient version of Mario Brothers, Sports California (it's called something like that) or Donkey Kong, that game was addictive.

Yeh but the buisinesses did nothign but give you some lame ass missions, and some money (which didnt matter cause i used the infite money cheat)
I didnt like the whole "I rule this town" bullshit, GTA2 is better cause you work for the gang's and you gain repsect or lose respect from certain gangs depedning on what you do.. which basically decided where you were able to go in the town without getting your ass shot down.

I had started FF7 back in the summer of 8th and 9th grade. I beat the first disc, and the second wouldn't load. I was fucking pissed. And last weekend, I bought it, and my data loaded for it (the one that would. ). And its turned out to be my favorite FF so far.
And yes, if you guys knew about all the stuff in the new GTA that is coming out, just about all of you would cream in your pants. Its like the though of Chuck coming back from the dead and Death coming out with a new album.
And as far as my second favorite game is concerned, that'll probably be the Grand Theft Auto series.

Hmmm, although the gameplay is a tad shitty & the acting is fucking horrible, I still think Silent Hill for the PSX is the greatest game ever because it's the only time a game has ever actually creeped me out big time.
Ugh, those horrible little teddy bear things...brrrr....

I'm with you on that. I played it once and was freaked out by those little dead kids with the knives - that is just so wrong. That has to be one of the creepiest and eeriest games ever made. *Shudders*

Silent Hill 4 is coming out sometime later on this month or next. I can't remember which. It should be pretty good though. I look forward to it.
