I have this problem mabye you guys could help me on. Heres the situation:

Im a bit new to all this digital stuff and I don't really know much about gear,
I have a Marshall AVT 150 head and frankly it fucking sucks, so I decided to get a POD Pro XT after having a POD 2.0 for a few years. What I wanna know is can I use say a Behringer EUROPOWER EP1500 to power my
Marshall 200w cabs and have my POD Pro XT be my main 'amp'?

Could I use the set up of:
POD Pro XT
Behringer EP1500
Marshall 4x12

Or am I just bent and don't know what im talking about?

yes, that would work...
careful with that poweramp-cab setup you have... because i beleive the europower 1500 has quite a bit more than 200w, so if you push it too hard then you'll have to replace some speakers.
right now i'm using an 800w s.s. peavey poweramp to push two 240w cabs... but since i don't have the poweramp cranked out (not even close) then the cabs run really clean....
i'm not sure how badly that euro-poweramp breaks up or at what volume, but if has indicating lights that say that it's clipping then that's bad. you want as much headroom as possible.
also make sure you have your ohms matched up correctly.

Do the avt's suck that bad? I was hoping to get the 50 watt combo for college considering the pod's soundclips on the website sound like solid state garbage for distortion.

POD's are actually killer and the distortion sounds convincing, thats the last time i trust shitty sound things online, i despise the AVT head ive got it can't do nothing well and it doesnt sound like a full tube amo at all, i really wouldnt recommend that range. maybe a jcm 2000 combo? like a dsl40.(used of course)

seriously with the new 2.0 and all that other shit... a pod is a dream to have in a home studio/compact rig...

and since it's just a "preamp", i highly reccomend teaming it up with a tube poweramp... because when people talk about that "tube sound" that they love....
most of the recognisable tube color on your sound comes from the poweramp section... not so much the preamp..
avt's have a tube or two in the preamp phase so kids will be like "it'll sound tubey, and tubes are best... i'm an idiot and i don't know what i'm talking about. i'll buy it". most hybrid amps are scams.....
those avt's do not sound very tube like imo..... especially at high volumes. some love em, some hate em....

Ok man can you tell me a good tube power amp. I play mostly extreme alternative and metal like: Fear Factory, Pantera, Sepultura, Slayer that kinda stuff if that helps. Also how would set this stuff up? im a noob....

for the money, i'm totally digging the peavey classic 50/50...... the 60/60 is good too, but it's 3 rack spaces instead of 2 like the the 50/50 and the 50/50 has el84 powertubes, which i prefer over 6l6's in the 60/60...... they're both pretty equal in volume,power, and price.

carvin just released a pretty cool 50/50 style poweramp.
mosvalve/tubeswork also has an all tube 50/50 style available.

mesa: 2:90, 2:95, 3:95, 50/50, 2:50, 20/20,strategy 400 & 500, ect.
